Why would anyone be offended by a wishlist? Like as much as I would love to get sent free books, seeing you opening your gifts and your face light up makes me really happy on your behalf! Like no one is forcing you to send someone books, it's ridiculous that people were offended, and it's not fair on your behalf that you had to take the wishlist down.
I honestly don't see the problem with the wishlists. This whole situation was because of assumptions. Also, I think some people are using the word "uncomfortable" in place of the word "jealous" and no, they're not synonymous. Wishlists are an awesome idea and if you don't want to send a book, then don't.
It's not fair that people can't send you books anymore. if people are uncomfortable with it, they don't have to send you books. I, for one, was planning on getting all my favorite booktubers books for their birthdays. I think that there are more people that enjoy th unboxing hauls and sending the books than there are that are uncomfortable with the whole ordeal. I really hope that you put the wish list back up, because i love looking at wish lists for book ideas and also for gift giving.

Meh. I wholly recommend you putting your wishlist back up. The people who bought you books were doing so out of a good place, and not an obligated place. Wishlists are an indication of what books you WANT to read, for family and friends who don't have the luxury of knowing what you have already read. If they have an issue with the concept of a wishlist, that is THEIR issue, not yours my darlin'. Oh...and good luck on the move!

But if so many booktubers noticed that some subscribers don't like the wish list system, there must be a lot of them and I personally think they'd rather take down their wishlist than lose subscribers. And it's not that I have something against the wishlists themselves. It's a great way of sharing which books one like to read, but I just don't like the fact that you are able to send books through it. If a subscriber really wants to send a special book to a booktuber, it is still possible to message them and ask for their address. If they than don't want to give it out, that is perfectly understandable as well, but 'their problem'... Also, I just don't really see, why a booktuber deserves a package of 8 books because in the end they are nothing better or worse than their viewers. I mean, it is on Amazon, a online shopping site...so...it's kinda a given that they would include that function, it doesn't mean anyone that see the wish list is obligated to buy the book for the person.
I don't even share your taste in books but I love watching how excited you get about reading... makes me want to go find a cozy cottage with a fireplace and just read forever. Totally agree with what most of the other commenting are saying about the wish list. I had absolutely no problem with it and I really don't think it's a big deal at all. It's practically the same as having a P.O. box, except the gifts are actually relevant to the channel. Like others have mentioned, it's seems to me that it's not us, the viewers, who have a problem with the wish list, but other lesser known booktubers.
....That makes no sense, I have like ten different Amazon wishlists that I have put together for MYSELF. I don't have it on private, but for friends and family on holidays and birthdays it is a great tool. The art in the Shadowhunter Codex is so gorgeous, I couldn't believe it when I first opened the book. Also to see all that information combined in one book, made me appreciate Cassandra Clare's world building even more. :)

People make wishlists all the time, from the time when we proudly posted our Christmas wishlist on the kitchen fridge and shared that with friends on the playground. I think it's pathetic when people hand down shame.. you don't deserve it... I'm a huge fan of your videos and find no offense at all at a wish list.. it's something you " wish" for for petes sake... There are thousands of other youtubers that ASK for things... I've NEVER seen that in your videos... I'm all in favor of you putting your wish list back up!!! People have the right to send you stuff if they want.. that's part of human nature is sharing .. I have plenty of friends that LOVE to gift books in general to anyone they know.. a real book lover receiver is few and far in between!

I personally never felt obligated to buy any RUclipsr anything. If I did buy anything it is because I wanted to. Its sad that you have to do away with your wishlist because other people were feeling insecure. Either way, I appreciate you and your vids. The discovery of Witches is really good. The author seems to get a little crazy with the wine talk but other then that its a good story. Book #2 is much better and book #3 is coming out in about a week or two. WhooHoo!
Howl's Moving Castle, and all of Diana Wynne Jones's books, were a big part of my childhood. I would defiantly recommend reading the Chrestomanci (if I remember how to spell that correctly) series as well. It's fantastic as you don't need to read them in any particular order and you don't even have to read all of them, even though I highly suggest you do.
I think we all know that what those people were feeling was jealous not uncomfortable. I mean I feel jealous that I don't have that many books and people sending me books but you know what I would never expect you to stop posting your wishlist link just because I can't handle myself. Some people... I love browsing wishlists though, they usually help me choose what I'm going to read next.
I have read A Discovery of Witches & Shadow of night! Very good! That was two years ago and I still have not read the third book. Unbelievable! Must find that book! Awesome unboxing video!!!

Kudos to you for linking to charities in your tumblr post. I always felt icky watching booktubers open piles of books whilst standing in front of hundreds of their own beautiful books. I kept thinking about kids and schools who can't afford books at all! You've done a good thing.
Have you already watched the H.P. movies? I know it sounds stupid because books are books and movies are movies, but I suggest you to read The Mortal Instruments. I've read it, except for CoHF and for me it's one of the best book series. Of course, H.P. is one of those, too. I'm only giving some suggestions to you :)

I love unboxings!! Especially when the person unboxing the items is excited haha. Also I really don't get the whole being uncomfortable with the wishlist thing because why do people care so much about what others do? If it makes them happy and it isn't hurting anyone, then it's their decision. I also find it strange that people don't feel like good subscribers if they cannot send the booktubers books....you can be a good subscriber without sending gifts...

In response to a lot of the comments wondering why someone would be uncomfortable with someone making videos of gifts from other people or talking about their wishlist: even though I personally am not uncomfortable with it, there are mental illnesses, disorders, neurodivergencies etc. that can manifest those feelings. Yes, no one is forcing someone to buy another person books. No, Kat has never made any passive aggressive comments or ever urged people to send her anything. Yes, it may be "irrational" to feel so uncomfortable with it, but those things are not meant to be "rational". Kat is being very kind to those who feel this way. She could have easily brushed what they were saying off but she chose to listen to what they were feeling, apologize, and stop her actions, which is extremely mature and thoughtful of her. On behalf of the people who felt that way, I thank you.
Howl's Moving Castle (the book) is so fantastic! It's super clever and engrossing. The movie's lovely too, of course, but you're definitely gonna enjoy the book!

That is crazy if you want to have a wish list on amazon have one anyone that feels otherwise it's their own problem to deal with if they want to buy you something good for them if not ok then it's not your responsibility to take on what everybody feels that watches your videos

I think it's pathetic when people hand down shame.. you don't deserve it... I'm a huge fan of your videos and find no offense at all at a wish list.. it's something you " wish" for for petes sake... There are thousands of other youtubers that ASK for things... I've NEVER seen that in your videos... I'm all in favor of you putting your wish list back up!!! People have the right to send you stuff if they want.. that's part of human nature is sharing .. I have plenty of friends that LOVE to gift books in general to anyone they know.. a real book lover receiver is few and far in between!
Congrats on all of the awesome books, Kat! I never felt "uncomfortable" with you posting your wishlist, and I think that it is a good idea for your viewers who want to send you a book to have a list of titles that you still want because you already have so many books! I think the problem might be jealousy? Anyway, I'm sorry that you felt like you had to take it down.

I personally never felt obligated to buy any RUclipsr anything. If I did buy anything it is because I wanted to. Its sad that you have to do away with your wishlist because other people were feeling insecure. Either way, I appreciate you and your vids. The discovery of Witches is really good. The author seems to get a little crazy with the wine talk but other then that its a good story. Book #2 is much better and book #3 is coming out in about a week or two. WhooHoo!

Howl's Moving Castle, and all of Diana Wynne Jones's books, were a big part of my childhood. I would defiantly recommend reading the Chrestomanci (if I remember how to spell that correctly) series as well. It's fantastic as you don't need to read them in any particular order and you don't even have to read all of them, even though I highly suggest you do.
'The Blood Of Eden' series (The Immortal Rules..) is one of my favourites! Hope you enjoy it!

A Discovery of Witches and Shadow of Night are two awesome books. It's about a witch and a vampire. I loved both books, and I'm sure you will as well.
I think we all know that what those people were feeling was jealous not uncomfortable. I mean I feel jealous that I don't have that many books and people sending me books but you know what I would never expect you to stop posting your wishlist link just because I can't handle myself. Some people... I love browsing wishlists though, they usually help me choose what I'm going to read next.

Kudos to you for linking to charities in your tumblr post. I always felt icky watching booktubers open piles of books whilst standing in front of hundreds of their own beautiful books. I kept thinking about kids and schools who can't afford books at all! You've done a good thing.

I've read it, except for CoHF and for me it's one of the best book series.

I love unboxings!! Especially when the person unboxing the items is excited haha. Also I really don't get the whole being uncomfortable with the wishlist thing because why do people care so much about what others do? If it makes them happy and it isn't hurting anyone, then it's their decision. I also find it strange that people don't feel like good subscribers if they cannot send the booktubers books....you can be a good subscriber without sending gifts...

In response to a lot of the comments wondering why someone would be uncomfortable with someone making videos of gifts from other people or talking about their wishlist: even though I personally am not uncomfortable with it, there are mental illnesses, disorders, neurodivergencies etc. that can manifest those feelings. Yes, no one is forcing someone to buy another person books. No, Kat has never made any passive aggressive comments or ever urged people to send her anything. Yes, it may be "irrational" to feel so uncomfortable with it, but those things are not meant to be "rational".
Kat is being very kind to those who feel this way. She could have easily brushed what they were saying off but she chose to listen to what they were feeling, apologize, and stop her actions, which is extremely mature and thoughtful of her. On behalf of the people who felt that way, I thank you.
Howl's Moving Castle (the book) is so fantastic! It's super clever and engrossing. The movie's lovely too, of course, but you're definitely gonna enjoy the book!
I swear I must be the only person who hated the first Mara Dyer book. I'm indifferent on amazon wishlist but I've got to miss I'm going to miss these surprise unboxings...and oh my gosh. Hopeless! You're going to love it!
