    I saw Elvis on May 26th of '77 here. Today was my first day on the job as an usher at this very arena. This is what inspired me to find this video. I was 10 years old at the time and I was fourth row from the stage. I got on my mother's shoulder and Elvis spotted me because I was higher up than all the other women. He came over slowly while he was singing and handed me a blue scarf smiled and then walked away. I still have the scarf.

      Same here have said it all my life. Back in 1977 I was all of 18 years old and saving my summer money so I could attend an Elvis show that year. Never had a chance as Elvis had passed in august of that year. So yes today with the means to attend any show anywhere all I am missing is Elvis himself.

    I asked my Grandmother what music she used to listen to when she was in school? She looked at me, like I was stupid, when I asked her, "Did you listen to Elvis?" LOL. "Of course I listened to Elvis!" She said. She told me about going to see him live at the Binghamton Arena and then how she was outside of his hotel and touched his arm.. When she told me about seeing him in concert I began looking up on RUclips videos of his performance. I was hoping to bring a smile to my Grandmothers face with the memory and because of you two and the video you made I was able to do that big time. As she was telling me the story of being at his hotel and her touching his arm I was watching her story unfold in your video
    In the picture of Elvis facing left and the security guard and police officer holding the crowd back my Grandmother is the girl in yellow shirt and glasses in between the cop and security guard reaching out to touch Elvis. Finding that picture made my Grandmother so happy that I felt I had to get on here too tell you both about the good your video brought into someones life and to Thank you both for making it! I asked my Grandmother if she was the girl that jumped up and made Elvis and his security decide to leave.. She said, "It might have been, I don't know, -I told you I touched his arm! Haha. -THANK YOU!

    Thank you, for the great concert review, as usual. I had the rare pleasure of meeting Mr. Leech's wife, Mrs. Rosemary Leech in the mid 1980s. She and her husband were invited by the "Elvis In Canada," Fan Club, located in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. The fan club was celebrating Elvis' birthday, and the festivities were centred around this moment. Rosemary and her husband presented some of their Elvis in Concert 8 mm film footage. We were so grateful to see the footage. They set up a retail booth to sell some of their Elvis in Concert photos. This gave me the opportunity to share a great conversation with Rosemary. She pointed to the photo of Elvis and Joe Eposito being locked out of the arena, and one photo she showed Elvis kicking the door with the heel of his right boot if memory serves, and we see his huge trademark grin as he is doing it. She shared some details about the moment. Thanks Mr. & Mrs., Leech for sharing the Elvis birthday celebrations all those years ago. And thank you, Elvis Back On Tour for presenting your review of this show.

Oh some neighbors across the street HAD tickets to see Elvis in concert at the Loyed Nobel Center in Norman Oklahoma, they were die hard Elvis,not my mom and dad they were all country fans..Every time I pass the Myriad (cox convention ctr.) I really liked this video!! I particularly liked the map you showed showing the 13 cities in order that Elvis played at!! The shows at this concert, the seventh stop on the tour, were May 25th and 26th, 1977....exactly 1 month before his last concert on June 26th at Market Square Arena in Indianapolis, Indiana

    • @waynepotter550
      @waynepotter550 4 года назад

      Sorry....I sent that comment by mistake before I was done....I was going to ask, since you did research for this great video, Elvis went to Indiana at the beginning of this tour....and he must have been around half way through this tour by May 26....do you know if Elvis did another tour after this one? He must have done another tour, with not much of a break at all between tours, to have done another tour which ended in Indiana?? Also I'm wondering, the fifth stop on this tour in your video was in Maine...do you know where in Maine it was?? I'm thinking it looks from the map in your video that it was Augusta, Maine maybe? (Or it could have possibly been Portland, Maine but from the map it looks too far north to be Portland) I think Elvis had a concert in 1976 at the Augusta Civic Center, in Augusta, Maine because in the lobby of the Civic Center there is a large gold plaque with the date and a picture of Elvis commemorating the date he played there. If Elvis played there on the tour you are talking about in your video, you would think they would have a plaque commemorating the last time Elvis played there, but perhaps I have the date wrong....but I'm pretty sure it was June of 1976....since you have done research on his 1977 concert dates (I like the 70's Elvis best), perhaps you know the answer to this question....but then of course maybe Elvis did play in Augusta Maine in both 1976 and 1977 on this tour you mentioned....but yeah it seems odd about the date on the plaque but again, maybe I'm wrong on the year dates. I didn't know Elvis played that many concert tours on the east coast toward the end....I'm sure you already know this, but his last tour was supposed to begin in Portland, Maine on August 17, 1977....and from Maine I'm not sure where he was going to go next, maybe New York, but of course he could only go south. Lol. Great video though!!

    Hey Guys! Great job with what you do! I also happen to be captivated by the arenas, as well as the hotel or "location" of the hotel site at that time or arena now for that matter. Anyway, I currently live in Knoxville, TN and know that Elvis performed here 3 times. The first was the spring of '72, second was sometime in '75, and I believe the last time Elvis was in Knoxville was in May of '77 just 3 months before his passing. Now I know he performed at what is no longer standing, and that was the old Stokley Athletic Center. That was demolished some 8-10 years ago I believe. Here's my question. What hotel and room did Elvis stay at on any of his 3 visits to Knoxville and what was it called then/now! Thanks guys!!👍✌️🤟👌😎

    My Dad took my Mother to that show, tickets were only $15.00. He was set for only one night but sold out so fast and still had so many fans left who were not able to get tix, so he added another date (the 26th date) which was sold out in record time also. The Binghamton Arena was a major stop for all the greats, (I mean everybody) from the 70's till the late 90's. I started going in the early 80's tix were $7.50 gen adm. then slowly crept up to around $20 for gen adm . My last show there was Alice Cooper Sept. 14 2022 and got great seats for $38.50 right from the box office that hasn't been taken over by Ticket Master and the other online scalping services.

    Brilliant guys. I went to Binghampton in about 2002 when my son Callum and I travelled up from NJ for the (motorcycle) speedway. We didn't stay in the hotel (well done) but we got into the auditorium and were shown round by the same guy that was there when Elvis did the concert. He showed us how the car came in from the hotel. I have no idea where the pictures I took are but, like you said, I was surprised at how small the venue was including bleachers which pushed back to accommodate the stage. I love what you guys are doing and it's a really important record.

    So Elvis performed in New York State in 1977? I find that quite surprising because I had tickets to see him perform at the Nassau Colosseum on Long Island, NY for the second time in late-August of 1977, having first seen him there on July 19, 1975. I find it curious that he would have performed in Binghamton, NY just months prior to beginning his ill-fated Northeast tour beginning in Portland, Maine August 1977. In fact, as per the video, Elvis had also performed in Maine in 1977 and was scheduled to appear there again in August of the same year. Two concert tours in the same region of the country, the Northeast, just months apart?

      I believe it but still find it surprising nevertheless.
      I’ve seen a list of where and when Elvis performed on-tour in the final couple of years of his life and the schedule was absolutely grueling, especially for a man with serious health issues. I guess the Colonel really needed to increase the cash flow to pay his enormous gambling debts. Sad.

      Security guard Dick Grob, wearing a pure white jacket (vs. Elvis's off-white jumpsuit) had actually been beside Elvis when they entered the hotel garage area. A group of fans had gathered along the wall along the walkway leading to the doorway Elvis was to enter (to get into the hotel). Grob turned so his back was to the fans and stretched his arms out to hold the crowd back, protecting and enabling Elvis to get to the door without incident. (The area where this took place is very, very small and cramped!!!)

    Since we know the amount of Elvis’s concerts 1684 perhaps you can break down the numbers in terms of total attendance and average cost of ticket. From my calculations Elvis performed in front of 12-14 million people at an average 10$ bringing in 120-140 million dollars without concessions. Adjusting for inflation that would be a tidy 500 million dollars today. Of course this does not count record sales and merchandising. The colonel came out like a thief in the night taking in 50% of all revenue and I suspect a good portion was cash.
