Because elvis presly wasn't gay if he was the oscars would gave the movie and austin all awards i think he did much better than rami malek he wasnt singing at all while austin sing too but 💔💔
When Rocky came out that also was an amazing movie for the times. Yet it did not win awards either. Something in Hollywood is fishy. Austin Butler was great at this and the movie was very well done. Should have earned more credit and awards than what has been given.
A true scandal but Elvis doesn't suit the woke agenda of the Academy. Austin totally deserved the Oscar for his performance and work. But at least a few technical ones
One of the best movies I have seen in a long, long, time. I think Austin Butler’s portrayal of Elvis was absolute perfection. He definitely should have gotten an Oscar! Can’t imagine what the judges were thinking but they sure got it wrong. The late Elvis shined through Austin Butler!! I’ll watch this movie over and over again!!
Hollywood is very much a ‘business town’. ELVIS didn’t win anything-and it deserved more Oscars than BEST ACTOR-is because Baz Luhrmann isn’t a Hollywood guy. He doesn’t play their politics. Austin and ELVIS won the international awards. But not any Oscars or Screen Actors Guild awards. Austin definitely won the hearts of movie goers the world over, especially the US. After all, Elvis belonged to America. And we saw the 50s, 60s, and 70s in America through Elvis.
There are no "Judges" in the Academy Awards, the entire membership of the Academy votes on the nominees. That is the main reason that the winners are so proud of their awards.
If Brendan Fraser hadn't been nominated for "The Whale" in 2023, too, I think it would have been Austin. But Fraser was really absurdly brilliant in that movie and I think he won that Oscar fair and square and also against all the Hollywood politics. Austin Butler has more chances and possibilities now after "Elvis". He is still young.
@@TERRYMism Part of me hopes there will never be another Elvis film after this one. Like Elvis, this movie should be the penultimate phenomenon that crowns the glory that is Elvis Presley.
If the Oscar’s cannot award this film and Austin Butler then Oscar’s are meaningless in my understanding. This truly is the best film. Austin Butler is an exceptional actor.
the Oscar’s no longer serve regular audiences you have to gay to be honored by them or woke or be a leftist activist, or just make movies that no one watches because the movies are so bad, if you meet those requirements then your film might get an Oscar
He truly captured Elvis in every way. I can't imagine walking in Elvis's shoes and feeling some of the heartbreaking pain that he lived through. There is no way, that he could have done this without feeling some of the real feelings that Elvis must have felt 😢
When my wife and I were waiting in the hallway for the theater to be cleaned, a young couple with a small boy walked by. The little boy saw the poster and immediately pulled back against his parents and yelled, “I want to see Elvis.” His parents reminded him, “We’ve already seen Elvis. Now we’re going to see Buzz Lightyear.” The boy continued to fight his parents as they dragged him down the hall, screaming all the way, “I want Elvis!!!” I turned to my wife, who is not an Elvis fan, and I said with a smile, “That’s why Elvis is the King.” As a postscript: After the film, my non-Elvis-fan wife wept for over two hours - she was THAT moved by this film. Kudos to Baz and Butler and the entire crew who created this masterpiece of filmmaking.
Absolutely everything about this film is magnificent. Truly, truly, incredible. What a talent Austin Butler is too. I completely agree that he should have won the Oscar, and the film itself an Oscar for something at least. I think Austin will go on to win many an Oscar though, he so deserves to. He is so special in every way.

I was a big Elvis fan ever since I heard Jailhouse Rock. My favourite era of Elvis was the 70s because the music really embodied the man himself. I have to unfortunately disagree with most people here that say this movie was awesome and really showed Elvis . The fact is that it would be really hard to capture the essence of the man because he was a genius and multi layered that an actor could never catch without looking like another tribute Elvis impersonator. Where I think this movie failed was it should have really spent more time with Elvis’ life just when he started to tour the south and also his relationship with his parents at that time. This was at the cusp of growing up dirt poor and just becoming successful enough that they could have some sort of stability. It is during this time that shaped Elvis’ drive. The acting was ok. Just ok in this film. The production and film style was too out there and it was here where more care would have captured Elvis. The insightful Elvis. The genius Elvis.
