"Organize the candy" That girl is going places!
I watch a lot of movie reactions, and YM&TM is one of my favorites, especially with their technical difficulties (i.e. little one interruptions) lol
I'm dead.
They told Tim Burton he couldn't kill Jack Nicholson, because he was too big a star. So Burton gave him two roles, and promptly killed them both.
For the longest time I didn’t know it was Tim Burton because it definitely does not look like him! His style is gothic and this movie was not gothic
@@nsasupporter7557 It's the high energy that I find most un-Burton. He's used bright colors before in Scissorhands, but Mars Attacks moves with a frenetic pace that not even his Batmans can reach, though Beetlejuice comes closest at times.
and Burton was like "Pal, I've been killing Nicholson since before you were born."
That’s hilarious
Remember, this is just a movie. And, no Martians were harmed during the production of this movie.
They were hehehe
@@leonardodavid4670 The actors playing the Martians were Venetian.
I love this movie, the aliens are so creative and fun, it’s like Gremlins mixed with Independent Day mixed with cheesy 50’s sci-fi movies
my too
Me too. It's also one of my favorite Tim Burton movies of all time.💯👏🏻
Unfortunately it came out just a few months after Independence Day so no one really wanted to see it.
The joke with the music is that it was Slim Whitman, who was known by most people from TV commercials selling his "greatest hits" records in the late '70s and early '80s. They touted him as a massive figure in music, but young people just knew him from the commercials and found his high pitch yodel strange and definitely not good music.
Only a Martian would say Slim Whitman's music was no good, hmmm
The cast is so large that most of the actors don't stick around very long, but each has his or her moment to shine.
I wish Pam Grier got more to do. And Danny DeVito showing up for the third act escape is so funny to me.
More like, have their moment to frizzle at the end of a laser gun.😊
its called blackmail
The large cast of names is a nod to the old big blockbuster disaster movies like the Airport movies, Earthquake ,The Towering Inferno, The Poseidon Adventure etc
Except Christina Applegate, she did nothing in this movie lol
The little one wants to organize the candy. So cute.
This movie has the greatest ending ever. I remember just laughing my head off in theaters at that part as well as when the grandma said "They blew up Congress!!"
I cheered at that moment! : )
I always watch this movie til the Martians vaporize Congress… then I can go to bed happy! 😃
Your daughter always steals the show! Too cute!
ew
@@mckrackin5324Bitter much?
Go ahead and bubble wrap your own kids, Karen.
Lespaul3100 ...That is probably why they play "live studio audience applause" sound effect whenever she appears.
Go with God and Be Safe from Evil. 😎 👍
@@DLites151 WTF?
@@DLites151 Don't make it weird you creepy fuck. He's just saying that they have a beautiful sweet child. Time to grow up a bit.
Fun fact: One of the conditions from Nicholson’s agent for Jack Nicholson to appear in the movie was that his character couldn’t die in the movie. So Tim Burton cast him in two rolls and killed him twice.
Two roles even
Jack Nicholson might not be around much longer… he’s 86 now and he has Alzheimer’s
“I had a crush on Natalie Portman”
“Who didnt?!”
“I still do”
🤣😂🤣😂
Yes, my friend and I had a crush on her when Star Wars: The Phantom Menace came out in 1999.
Thank you for NOT editing out your daughter! The interactions with you were real AND hilarious! :)
I think she does it at least once a taping. Real and cute and funny every time.
How did you know I melted all the ice cream?!? 😭
Daughter child loved this movie when she was 5. She went around making the Martian sounds for months afterward.
Adorable. Ack ack!
me too aahhahaha
Mine started screaming in terror during the opening credits.
You guys are so lucky to have your own in-house candy organizer.
I love that your daughter came in at the moment the audience clapped it was almost like she was entering like “here I am, the star” 😂
I have some news for you.
They have an applause track they play when she comes in.
"That's a lot of freaking people."
"Like Burning Man."
Me: Well.....
"Chintz" refers to a type of printed cotton fabric that is typically colorful and adorned with intricate floral patterns. It's often used for upholstery, curtains, and other decorative purposes. The word "chintz" can also be used to describe something that is overly showy or ostentatious.
Actually "chintzy" refers to cheap-yet-ostentatious. And the difference between "chintz" and "chintzy" is what ended my wife's momentum on Jeopardy.
@@rmhartman good point. I always just assumed the two were interchangeable.
Director to Martin Short: Just be yourself. But, like if possessed by Gary Busey.
The beehive woman was played by Lisa Marie, Tim Burton's partner at the time. He also cast her in his other movies around that time like "Sleepy Hollow" and "Ed Wood."
Elvis' daughter? 🙃 no way.
I find it funny that war-room had a collection of flying saucer models ready for just such an eventuality!
Look up PROJECT BLUE BEAM
Your kid's entrance got applause
To be honest it was perfect for the tone of this review
Richie saved his grandma, and grandma saved the world.
Fun fact: that hotel with the flying saucer on top was a real hotel that was being demolished in Las Vegas. They mixed the real footage with the Martian spaceship and gave it that cool effect.
The reason I enjoy this movie is because you can tell the actors had a lot of fun filming it.
This was the first professional reunion for Burton, Nicholson, and DeVito since the Bat-films.
Oh yeah, good call
The grandmother was the same actress who played Juno the case worker from Beetlejuice
@@nsasupporter7557 Cameron wanted her after seeing her in the laserdisc release of one of her earliest films The Old Dark House (1932) with Boris Karloff, directed by James Whale. And yes, as she said in Titanic, she was a hottie. She was actually alive when Titanic sank.
@@Joe-hh8gd you’re talking about Gloria Stuart
@@nsasupporter7557 You're right of course. Not sure how I confused her with Sylvia Sidney, except that they both had careers dating back to the 1920s.
Yay, 2 technical difficulties today!! Every time I hear It's Not Unusual, I can't help but think of Carlton. LoL
We never got an ACK ACK from Mrs. Movies 😢😢😢😢
I acrually do like the little bits with the kids you two have. hilarious.
"don't run, we are your friends" :D I love this crazy film
Someone compared Aaron Rodgers in his NFL gear to the alien and I haven't been able to unsee it. 😂😂😂
14:26 I laughed my ass off!! She was so shocked that you knew
My favorite Tim Burton film. It's so damn funny
The yodeling song that killed the martians was sung by Slim Whitman.
Big Fish is a Tim Burton movie with a very different look from his usual.
They need to stop fighting in the War Room!!!!!
I love how accurate the movie is when making fun of our society. There is a lot of truth in the jokes, even if they are a bit over the top. Really brings home the point, “common sense isn’t very common.”
“Do not run, we are your friends!”
I've taken to cheering out loud whenever y'alls little girl comes into the room - to the annoyance of my dogs.
The scene where we find out that Tom Jones can fly a plane is my wife's favorite - she's a big Tom Jones fan. Even now, many years later, whenever something comes up where it's appropriate, she'll say in a vague Welsh accent, "Sure. You got one?"
I enjoyed the extended cameo in the video today, very 90s sitcom-esque. :D
The grandmother played in Beetlegeuice. She was June the caseworker
I can't wait to see the little ones getting even MORE chatty durring your filming xD
"I'll not only organise the candy, i'll eat it before diner as well."
your daughter had me rolling!! "organize the candy" ! What a genius!
Still hoping for Star Trek reactions. 🖖😌
Agreed!
Sci-fi isn't really in her wheelhouse.
@@Joe-hh8gd I know but there have been quite a few sci fi movies that she really liked, and also Star Trek is awesome!
@@kaylzshter6153 I think she didn't like 2001 (although that's a movie that should never be seen on such a small screen, which didn't help) so she certainly won't like the first Trek film on a non-immersive screen. Might call it indulgent, which it isn tProbably best for them to start with the lower budget, Capt Horatio Hornblower- inspired Star Trek 2. More peppy, less cerebral. For me, both movies are my faves of the series, for different reasons.
Never, never, NEVER underestimate the power of Slim Whitman!
"Don't eat the cheeto puffs on the couch!" CLUNK
This is the best alien invasion movie ever made. I'm so glad they finally watched this 🤯
That cellphone was bigger than a Viet Nam era walkie talkie.....
Technically, it would be a Flying Saucer at the beginning... Because we can clearly identify it, so UFO is out. xD
I love how your guys daughter just breezes into the room
"Guess it wasn't the birds." I still quote this at times today nearly 30 years later.
The kid that your wife thinks was elliot from ET. She probably remembers him from the movie Solarbabies.
17:14 That exchange of looks was priceless! 🤣
“He reminds me of Elliot from E.T.”……“No, he’s in Witness, with Harrison Ford.”
Don’t know why that made me laugh 😂
19:30 I thought you were gonna say "notice there's no red or green on-screen up til now" b'coz they were saving those colours for the red and green skeletons so they really pop😊
Takes the term "killer music" to a whole new meaning
It's amazing how this movie takes place simultaneously in the 60's and 90's
15:55- says the dad in jean cut-offs. 😂😂😂😂😂
15:15
"I'm gonna move the chair to the candy so I can organize it."
Yup. Sure you are....
The little kid is so cute. She melted the ice cream? Jesus!
When I went to LA I stumbled upon Randy's Doughnuts. I remembered it from this movie. I thought it was the coolest thing ever. The doughnuts were amazing too
The guest appearance in this video was too great 😂
What an adorable interruption. Those types of things are precious, my little girls are in their 40's now, enjoy it while you can. 🕊💖🖖
She was looking right at you. Haha, love it.
No his not elliot from ET but..
Lukus Hass is from films like Boys (1996) with Winona Ryder.
And that college movie Bookies (2003) with Rachael Leigh Cook and Nick Stahl, johnny Galecki. I recommend you give it a watch. Lukus Hass is a rare actor play many small rolls.
Tim Burton absolutely smashed it out of the park with this one, and beautifully paid homage to those old B-films from the 50's and such that had A-list stars in them. And it's just darn funny!
And just like those 50's star-studded vehicles, very few made it out alive at the end of the story
" *I'm gonna move the chair to the candy so I can organize it* !
OMG 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Tim Burton's movies stand out. They're different than most if not all other directors. I understand it can be a "pill hard to swallow" for some people but for others it's the ride what makes it fun... It wakes up the weird side in each one of us.
the "do the martians have two sexes.." joke didn't age well 😂
More like it was some nostradamus level prophecy .
YeaH . . 🤣 "I'm going to organize the candy!!" . that was a good one!
I remember getting mars attacks as a kid on VHS I just turned 30 on the 13th I'm getting old I do miss movie gallery blockbuster lol 😆 just that shopping experience of a movie I love streaming but this movies very nostalgic
She is so precious! You should include her in your video, where appropriate of course
Having the Joker as the president was soooo wrong, but sooo perfect for this movie.
I think the overall silliness/campiness/weirdness of the film is the source of both its humor and charm. It is a great send-up of 50s movies with modern sensibilities and bizarre twists. You do remember how the Martians died in War of the Worlds, don't you? Although Jack Nicholson again nailed it, everyone did so well in their roles it is hard for me to single out a favorite. Pierce Brosnan as the caricature sophisticated scientist was so refreshing as a counterpoint to his Remington Steele and James Bond outings.
Fun time, fun reaction.
26:56 *They blew up congress.* My favorite line of dialogue in the movie.
You guys are such teases, never filling us in on the details. I wanted to hear the story of the melted ice cream, lol.
"Thats a big AA meeting."
It's in Las Vegas. A lot of tenptation there
It's not just yodeling, but Slim Whitman's range that does them in lol
Lmao I always crack up when your daughter comes in and the applause starts 👏 🤣
I will always remember Ritchie was the main guy in My Chemical Romance's Black Parade music video.
Lucas Haas. Loved him in The Lady in White.
Oh shit, that was him playing the Patient?
Rest In Peace Eric The Actor. This was his best role. Ack Ack!
The actress who played the grandmother was the same one who was Juno the case worker from Beetlejuice
You've got a cute "Candy Arranger" their, lol! Hug her until M & M's pop out of her nose while you can, before you know it you'll turn around and she'll be a dreaded Teenager...
Oh my goodness! Little angel stole the show. That was so sweet!
I have this on dvd, and one of the special features is that you can turn the entire soundtrack into the Martians language which is hilarious 😂
13:40 Aw, here comes Mrs Movies Jr. ☺️🙂🙂
Ack! ACK ACK!!
Hahahah that kiddo is wonderful!
Watch out! Ten years from now and she will be adult.
lol this might be the funniest interruption by their lil superstar yet 🤣🤣🤣🤣
OMG The little one, she is adorable!
The burning cows at the beginning are a direct nod to the comic books.
The president tried to call in the Batman.
But, he was home, washing his tights.......
CLEVER! Lol.👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
That was the cutest kid ! You get a thumbs every time she appears !
This movie scared me as a child and still as a 35 year old man 😂😂😂
You guys took this movie way more seriously than it was intended.
Mr: She was asking you.
Mrs: She was looking RIGHT at you.
Might be my new fav technical difficulties
Fun fact, the red and green skeletons is how they keep score.
Martians are needed more than ever now.
The happy potty moment in the 2nd interruption is just too funny... "effin shithead...." 🤣🤣
As your lost 50 year old child I must say you can never divorce!
Believe it or not, that yodeling was a top ten entry in the U.K., and considered a country/ pop crossover hit in 1952, performed by Slim Whitman, called "Indian Love Call" more mistreatment of native Americans.
I don't believe it.
The good news: they come in peace
The bad news: its opposite day on mars
They had the right idea about congress at least
