The ways you guys answered Brooks question was phenominal. You showed so much depth of knowlege as well as compassion. I have grown to really look forward to the Q and A part of your show, even though they rarely relate to me or my situation. It's still really interesting to watch you guys work through their challenges and come up with a solid path forward. Thanks again for the great content.

Y'all have really changed my life. I've stuck with my fitness journey for 2.5 years now, instead of exercising and dieting on and off like years prior. I don't diet, I eat healthy and have been trying to eat more calories since I strength train. I love y'all programs. I have learned a lot from y'all with fitness, things going on in the world, and life period. Y'all are funny and make me laugh

I've noticed this so many times over the past year listening to this podcast: The thing about Mind Pump is that these 3 humans won't just tell you about practical (actionable) knowledge you can apply to your workout routine (my entire routine which I've designed is based on knowledge gained from this podcast over the past 12 months). Yes, every episode will have its focus in the first 8-15 mins, and then it's a free for all. They'll talk about life, the big things happening in the world, their experiences as fathers and family-men...
I think this is why we all love this podcast so much. We come here for the fitness aspect. But we stay for the life force these 4 men exude in every single episode. It's beautiful.

Thanks fellas! It’s crazy that topics always come up on the show like exactly when I need to hear them. I have a 5 year old daughter a 3 year old son and a 4 month old son and I really enjoy when you guys talk about parenting. And I will for sure be practicing some of the stuff you talked about today when it comes to tantrums and helping my children learn coping skills. And since you all know that I have zero free time and I basically have no friends because I have 3 kids, thanks for being there and being the only people I can talk to about my fitness journey and the struggles and stuff that come along with it. Appreciate the content and the company while I’m at work grinding for my family.

Morning mind pump brothers! I did a nutrition consultation 6 weeks ago at college for a personal trainer that can't seem to put any muscle on. As well as sending him off with a dietary plan, I suggested some things that I learned from listening to you guys, and also gave him access to my Maps Anabolic program for 6 weeks for him to follow as he was doing way too much. I have a follow up with him in 2 weeks and look forward to his feedback. Listening to you guys gave me the confidence to articulate to a personal trainer what I believe he needed. So grateful for you guys. Have a blessed day lads 👊🏼💪🏼🙏🏼.

Caller 1: I’ve tried the locks, moving the food to the garage or trigger food out of the house entirely, habit apps, trackers, having my husband hold me accountable. I think the craziest thing I’ve tried is i put a bell on the bedroom door so he’d wake up if i tried to leave the bedroom, in the effort to put a barrier there. Put chairs in the way of the kitchen doorway. My sister has this condition too. When i try the hardest to not do it and when stress levels are the highest , it’s the worst.
Sal your advice is the best I’ve heard and that’s saying a lot. Journaling will be very hard. Very very very hard. But Brooke if you’re reading this, please try their suggestions. You’re 22 and open about this, trust me that’s huge. I’m going to try this too. You can get a grip on this if you get to the root cause. I’m 36 and I’ve dealt with this since probably my late teens. I’ve always “gotten away with it” due to a faster metabolism but it’s slowing with age. People would brush off my struggle because i wasn’t overweight- they didn’t know i felt out of control, i never got a full nights sleep, i had to know i had snacks whenever i stayed at a hotel or at someone else’s house. I’m just NOW at a point where I’m making slow steps to improve my relationship with food. 32 year old you will thank you so much… it got much harder when i had to get up with my babies to breastfeed or up with a sick child once i had a family, and keeping foods my husband and sons like in the house.
Guys, keep up the great work. You impressed me in a new way with this podcast. I enjoyed anabolic, and finally got off that chronic cardio type bulimia last year. Just started doing more mobility with MAPS performance and I’ve noticed the explosive movements force me into proper form and im curious to test it out back in anabolic now 🤣
Keep it up and thanks for the constant free content!!

Something that helped me to stop bingeing was getting an intermittent fasting app, and changing the settings so there is an icon on the top bar of my phone and a banner on my locked screen. But seeing that icon is reinforcement, that trigger I need to know it's not my feeding window. It's like writing down your workout or meal plan versus just thinking what you want to do. It's a tool to help me structure my thoughts so I have a clear roadmap on how to reach my goals. I hope that women can get the help she needs.

I did compound lifts at the start of my workouts for the first 3ish years of my training but never really 'felt' it properly, so I ended up doing exactly what Adam said and eliminated them completely for more isolation movements for the next 2-3 years. Then I started to understand more about the benefits of compound movements so I decided to really focus on doing them again and properly, the progress in my physique even after all that time training was insane!

I agree with doing the big compound exercises first but if you do technical exercises eg snatch, power snatch, clean and power clean as well as the jerk, they should come first. That's if people utilise those exercises.
I generally use 3 main exercises than add a few for Rotator Cuff or arms etc. One routine I did for along time was
    Power Clean
    Back SQUAT
    Bench Press.
If I wanted to annihilate my back I just keep adding weight to the bar but change exercises so -
    Power Snatch
    Power Clean
    Clean High Pulls
    Dead Lifts
    Heavy DBRows
I'd be f____d and sore for days.

I do have some feedback on the night time eating. Not saying this is true in this case but, it doesn't mean it's disordered eating. I remember something way back when I was struggling with similar things before addressing the primary issues. It could be related to gut bacteria that are sending signals to crave certain types of foods that it craves when you're at your weakest. Like you try and avoid them all day. You have no problems avoiding it but, when you're tired or feeling run down or not at your peak willpower, those cravings sneak in. Something about how the brain/gut connection that triggers you to crave certain foods.
It doesn't mean it's disordered. And just because you've had disordered eating in the past doesn't mean that's what it is now. Sometimes, simply knowing it is your gut wanting foods to feed the bacteria in your gut can be enough to calm it down with some water, maybe some electrolytes or something, and get back to sleep. I would have recommended working with their connection that does the gut tests as well as the therapy portion. Doesn't hurt to try both angles. Could be just a small dietary intake change that helps resolve it and then therapy to process what that means to you.
