Absolutely loved that you discussed perspective in this one. I have always felt that it was a love of the journey that has always kept me coming back (pregnancies, births, lots of miscarriages and put on bed rest each time has brought me back to what felt like square 1 more than 7 times). A love of the journey and also focusing on the things I could control instead of weight loss like shooting for a certain weight on a lift, better form on a lift, etc. Heck, I’ve celebrated just getting in my water on some days😅! You guys are right, nothing changes in life’s responsibilities by simply just losing weight. Learning to cope with life’s stresses helps with enjoying and committing to the journey.
Mind Pump is the best channel on YT. They way they simplify and make everything relatable to just about every type of person is so fantastic!! Keep it going guys! I can't wait to try my very first maps program eventually when I'm able to get it!!
What a powerful conversation. I’m 35 years old. I have a good job that supports my family of 6 comfortably. Last year I made the decision to become a personal trainer. While scaling back the hours of my day job to transition into building a training business, I get discouraged. But after listening to this conversation, I am as excited as ever to put 110% into this transition. Not sharing the knowledge and passion I have for fitness would be selfish. Daily I am told I am making a mistake. Maybe I am. But not trying would be a bigger mistake.
I’ve been in the gym since I’ve been 15 and I’m now 58. I love balance. I can go have a splurge meal gain 3 pounds love every minute of it but know how to take it off. I love food and I love working out, but I love balance more. Really enjoy your podcast. I’ve been a certified trainer with Ace for 17 years and I know what it’s like to kill a client in the beginning and I know what it’s like to teach my clients balance, and that makes long-term outcome. I’m also a certified life Coach through international coaching academy for 15 years, this has been an Intercal part of my love for coaching clients is incorporating the life coaching, health coaching, and fitness and tying it all together.
You guys touched on something that is key, being genuine. Like you've said, it's applicable everywhere in life, and it will better your life anywhere you apply it. If you are being genuine with other people, you will realize more of the things/outcomes in life that you want, and in the rare case you don't get what you thought you want, you'll realize you weren't wanting the right thing.
Guys, I believe the knowledge you give us on the podcast is the ingredients to success. The Maps programs are the recipe and the Maps clips channel is the directions, i need all that to become successful. Thanks guys Jason Phillips is always awesome.
Absolutely beautiful insight into the journey. Years of training, and as I look back it is really about enjoying the journey not the destination. Really every aspect of enjoying life is finding enjoyment in the process.
I love Mind Pump and they give amazing advice. They have not done the proper research into what #75hard really is. It is 1. Not meant to be a fitness program like MAPS products, it is a program to build mental toughness. 2. It is free and always has been. 3. It is part of a year long program called #livehard that is meant to be repeated yearly as well. It IS a lifestyle and it ISN'T for the average person. It is for people who aspire to build the tools to become a HIGH ACHEIVING PERSON. So with respect fellas do the proper research into it like you preach to your listeners to do. Love and appreciate all you guys do.
I can't remember what episode, but you guys talked about addressing the knee and elbow issues instead of wearing pads or sleeves .Big thanks to you guys, I hit a PR of 410 on my squat with no knee pain or sleeve on .
One of the reasons I’ve been a huge fan of your show is because ive been a trainer at a high level for 17 years. From 1 on 1 in person full time to running gyms, to personal training director at cooperate to now running a successful online training business for the last 10 years. I said all of that because I typically relate to your point of view. Your point of view typically comes from a place where you are versed enough on the topic that your perspective may not always be popular but it always comes from an educated space. It’s clear you have not done much if any research on 75 hard at all. As intelligent as you guys are I think it would be beneficial to take some time to do that before you give such a strong opinion discrediting the program. Let’s start with it’s not a fitness program. It’s a mental toughness program where people happen to get in shape because simply sticking to any beneficial nutrition habit of your choice, drinking water and going for a walk daily is part of the deal. It’s also free. There’s more to it but I think you’d find more value by you actually looking deeper into it yourself. Other wise I think it’s fair not to use your trusted and respected influence to discredit it. Thanks for taking the time to read this. Again I’m a big fan of the show
What an insightful episode yet again, and a GREAT Help to all of us new up and coming Personal Trainers. Keep on pumping out these BANGER episodes guys!
Todays topic made sense to me becoz of a quote I heard from Sal in one of Mind pump episode: “ a man who loves walking will walk further than the man who loves the destination” It is until then I stoped obsessing about weight and focussed on showing up to the gym. I’m still not satisfied with what I see after a year of training( it maybe dysmorphia) but I keep showing up 4x week. Thanks mind pump for rich wisdom❤
Happy f Monday: Ma passed away 10 years ago. Had azure certification test, failed that. Listen to mind pump. Got home deadlift: 320 2x PR. Rescheduled re-test. Thanks MP for good vibes
Signed up with NCI at the beginning of the year because of you guys having him on the pod a while back, putting Jason on my radar. Thanx for the great guests 🙏
AS I personal trainer myself this episode just change my life and the way that I see fitness. Is not about cherry pick customer, is about put yourself out there and help as many people as you can either with free content or is they take the step and ehire you as their trainer
Prime and Prime Pro are the 2 programs I want most. I am finally understanding how important corrective exercises and mobility are for my being able to feel good on a daily basis.
I work for a training and performance company that improves people’s mindset and skill set around sales, service and improves coaches/leaders. The negative mindset around selling is a tough thing to do but when we help someone understand it is an extension of service their world can change.
It is interesting when they are talking about people who put on weight/fat and they don't care about it. I consider myself one of the lucky ones who thinks that way. I am currently prepping for my bikini show for the third time and I love the journey. For me the first prep was a real eye opening. It made me realise that the only thing I need to change is the way of thinking. I wouldn't be happy being that skinny the whole year around, but it serves a purpose, same with the bulking, it has a purpose. As soon as I understood that my life has gotten easier and I accepted my body and my look and I can fully concentrate on the journey and what I can accomplish just by changing my mindset. Love the show by the way ❤😊
One big thing about the 75 Hard idea is Why are you doing this? If you are doing it to punish yourself, you are not likely to stick with it or even finish it. If you are doing it in order to develop resilience and hardiness, then you are more likely to integrate it into your way of life. This is how you learn to enjoy the journey!!!
Hi I'm 22 years old calisthenics athlete dealing with shoulder issue for several years. I have started fixing it a bit and learned a lot from your amazing free content. Nevertheless I would benefit a lot from something like maps prime and maps prime pro XD.
My view I don't think it's fare to say a trainer failed if someone gained the weight back and stopped training . Often times people go through crisis emotionally, and they stop caring, hears we're therapy Comes in which is were it can be lost. As you probably know the relationship with the training is a big part of why they Maintain there results. Of course results vary with the client. The selling is easy if your a salesman and you believe in the product. Many clients have been with me for more than a decade, some will not train with another trainer if I paid for it. Hard to find good help. Then they have big dreams and open there own gym. You guys are great alot of good information. Thanks Coach James Shamrock Boxing club
Morning mind pump brothers! Beautiful stuff as always. I'm going through a breakup right now and looking hard in that mirror. It's something I have learnt in recovery and is such an invaluable tool yet very tough thing to do. I'm just so grateful for my experience with my ex, and am detaching with love. Thanks for your podcasts. And thank you Jason! Have a blessed day lads. 💪🏼👊🏼🙏🏼
Great conversation guys 👍 So much wisdom and motivation that you're giving away with kindness! It's true, you're giving the best stuff for free and that's building so much trust 🤝
You guys should do a contest and have a listener-submitted workout program contest. Best program that incorporates your info and that you guys like will win a grand prize
Having a random number for income is a goal to strfe for, but I know studies that have come to the conclusion that (surprise) more money does not translate into more happyness. Part of the reason is certainly because people dont actually want money. They want >enough< money to not have to worry about if you can afford this or that. Enough money gives you peace of mind. The threshhold for this is nowhere near a million. I think studies said everything above 70.000, or something like that, had diminishing returns. This can get messy if when you get money, you spent it to make yourself feel better, instead of focussing on what you actually need and want.
Sometimes Sal goes off on these tangents and I wish I could reach through the screen and lightly slap him on the head and tell him to let other people talk.
