The early Hemi cars are my favorites(1966 Belvedere/Satellite, Charger, and Coronet) This is when the Street Hemi was at its best. The Hemi became a bit milder toward the end of their production run because Mopar switched from a solid lifter cam to a hydraulic cam in 1970 for emissions reasons.
Happy to read this Hemi car is one of your favorites :-)
Another stunning Coronet.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Hi Ricarda, Happy to read you enjoy "Another stunning Coronet" :-) Lou
I met them some years ago, great people, Ray's got some nice cars!
Happy to read you enjoy these Care Takers :-)
I had a '66 Charger in the early '70s and LOVED that car. It was VERY dependable and looked great (especially after I dolled it up). My interior looked very similar in design to the Coronet, except mine came stock with 4 bucket seats (the rear 2 would fold down) and a console that went all the way to the back. The rear deck would also fold down into the trunk compartment very nicely for those occasional "dates" at the local Drive Inn Theater..... ;-)
Hi Curt Brennan, Thank you for viewing, sharing details on your car, and adding to the story, Lou
Sweet jesus what an amazing car.
Amen.
My dad bought a brand new one in 1966. My idiot brother (still an idiot to this day) decided to pull it out of gear while it was parked and jump out while it was rolling backwards down a hill. The door caught the embankment and it buckled the door backwards. They traded it in because he wasn't in a financial position to have it fixed. he tried to buy it back 2 years later but the dealership that he traded it in at wouldn't sell it to him (JERKS!!). that was in 1970, I wasn't born until November so I never got to ride in it. I barely remember riding in the car that they got when they traded it in which was an Oldsmobile 442. Sure wish he'd had that hemi when I was old enough to appreciate it, or see it for that matter. He's gone now and I'd give anything to talk to him one more time and hear stories about the hemi.
Hi Wylie Stivers, Thank you for viewing and sharing memories of the car your Dad bought. Lou
Love these Vintage Mopar;s,Great "Car Story" Lou!
Hi IrishPat64, Glad you "love" this oneand enjoyed the story :-)
When you mentioned "engine mounts", I am assuming you mean those orange lifting brackets on the front and rear of the engine...What a cool car indeed...I am ashamed to admit that I have never really seen a hemi car up close or had the thrill of riding in one..Will definitely have to add a hemi ride to my "bucket list".
Hi Kramden, You're right, they are not engine mounts, since they are there to help pull the engine. Good idea to add that to your "Bucket List" as I think you'll have fun with that one, Lou
I saw it before on Jay Lenos - pretty interesting car, i really like it! Thanks for the video!
The torque flite trans in this car was actually the fastest shifting transmission ever produced on a american car, right? Well, if this is not right, anyway: it was really fast at shifting trought the gears.. :-)
Hi HardwareTV, Thank you for sharing, and you're welcome, Lou
Black is hard to beat in this car. Sinister!
