    A couple tips / Tip#1 : Strap your clutch lever to the handlebar, this spreads the clutch plates apart, and helps to get all the oil out. Tip#2 : Make a slide out of tin foil to cover your pipes with, this will stop the oil from dripping all over your pipes, when removing the oil filter. Tip#3 : Fill the new oil filter up with oil, before installing.

    • @zipper978

      If anything more oil doesn’t make it out with clutch lever pulled. When the clutch plates are touching there’s almost no oil in between them

    • @loki887
      @loki887 2 года назад +1

      In regards to the clutch plates, you can give the lever a couple squeezes once most of the oil is drained, if you're really worried about that. Kinda an unnecessary step though. Same for pre-filling the filter. It doesn't hurt to do it, but it ain't super necessary.

  • @oOLLOYDOSOo

    The oil bottles you used had 946ml in each not 1 litre, if you rest one upright you will see the level will be short of the litre mark, you have put 946ml x 4 + 100ml = 3884ml. That's why you are towards the middle of the scale. You are short of 216ml. Not a problem for now but you will be below the minimum before your next service interval 👌🏼

    If your gonna show how to do something please learn how to do it right, warm up engine, remove fill pug, put pan under belly pan, use aluminum foil or something else to stop oil from spilling on your headers (exhaust), remove drain plug, remove oil filter, clean area where drain plug sits, reinstall drain plug to torque spec, apply new oil to gasket on filter I also prefer to fill oil filter with oil let it soak in then add a bit more, clean area where filter sits, reinstall oil filter with a proper filter cup and torque to spec, fill oil very close to amount needed, put back filler plug, start engine 1 min, let sit couple of mins recheck level add oil if necessary, make sure no oil spilled has touched the tires, make sure oil filter seal is good and drain plug crush washer is sealed good wth no drips after it has been cleaned. Go for a ride remember to check your engine oil level the next day when engine is cold because some bikes level can change when oil has settled. It is one thing to do how to videos just remember to show the safest way it should be done so newbies do it right and don’t end up crashing there first bike from oil leaks. With that many subs a lot of people could be doing things wrong using your info

    Ice cold oil changes are better because the oil has all drained to the bottom of the engine and when you pull the plug 99.9% comes out in 5min. Hot oil gets sloshed all throughout the engine and isn’t sitting in the oil pan and most people don’t wait long enough to wait for all the oil to drain and leave some dirty oil in the engine. Hot sounds good but cold is better

    Chase by my calculations you short changed the amount of oil you should have put in by 116ml which is why the level looked too low. Those bottles held a quart each which is only 946ml so the total you put in is 3784ml plus the 200ml for the filter = 3.984 litres. 116ml short. Manufacturers prefer the at rest oil level to be close the the upper level. Better put some more oil in Chase.

    So many face palm moments.. but please take note of what many have said - put some form of catch when removing the oil filter - lubing your seals are good thing to do (just a little dab will do ya.. that little trust but verify goes away when you do it) - crush washer replace for the drain plug - Fill the filter with a little oil (if you can) - if wet clutch pull it in to help get more oil out - and personally try to catch the drain plug instead of fishing for it and then having to clean that as well. Yes I do my own oil, and Yes you should totally keep doing your own and as many jobs you can do. cheers.

    I changed the oil at 250 miles then again at 600 then again at 1000 I know you don't need to do it I now ill change it again after the winter down time the cheapest thing you can do to ensure long life out of that awesome engine

    Don't forget all the particles from the clutch (if it's a wet clutch) not only are you braking in a motor but the transmission and clutch all will give some particles

    I dont think you need a service manual to figure out how much oil to put in a motorcycle. He's done how many wrecked bike rebuilds now and he doesn't know how to change oil? I'd just get a dealer to do the first one anyways
