I live in rural Wales, where the population is high 90's % wise Caucasian. Some years ago I had a summer position, where at the end of the season there would be a chance to get a full time position. I didn't get the position, even though I was local, spoke Welsh, was much closer to where it was and was good at my job. They gave it to a black man who had moved down from London. I would see him once a week whilst at work. I preferred to read a book on my breaks but I could hear him bragging about how he dossed on the job and had been unfaithful to his wife many times since he had moved down to Wales. Used to work with a guy who was a fireman and he told us about a policy where at least 15% of their staff HAD to be foreign born. Even though we live in a place that is largely homogenous. To have a racist/diversity policy like this in a profession that deals in saving lives is sheer lunacy. What is the world coming to.

I really cannot wrap my brain around why creatives in the gaming space can't understand the simple concept that the consumption of Art is not mandatory by the masses. If you went into an art gallery and you did not like a person's painting, you are under no obligation to purchase it. It does not make you any sort of bigot or homophobe or racist or any other derogatory term that people who don't want to see certain premises or subject matter in gaming get labeled as. When a painter or a sculptor create something, anyone who identifies with the sentiment it invokes is able to purchase it. Also, I feel nobody can say that every modern piece of technology or medical advancement was done by a white male. I'm quite sure of a black practitioner of medicine doing the first heart surgery ever in the 1890s, for example. That said, denying white people completely in the video games industry the right to work is wrong since they helped massively build it too. That's not the ideal any real person industry should be supporting. I know that I have been passed over for less experienced people who are women or other. One was my first job application after highschool for a front desk attendant at a local car dealership. I had an interest, I had experience with mechanics in highschool, I had experience volunteering, and I had experience working part time during highschool. They did not even call me. They hired a girl from my class who had zero experience (according to her, when I asked). So either they did somthing improper or she falsified her resume. In university similar things happened I applied to various roles for the co-op program. However, Despite having a couple years of work experience at that point, and superior grades. Other people I knew with no experience were selected. Those are just the two I know about. Now it may not have been a matter of sex or skin colour. But I know that in a fair hiring process I should have at least gotten a phone call, if not an interview.

During the hiring process even if a person has more years of experience, skill, talent they wont hire them unless they have "the diversity points" the company needs to not pay the fine. If they don't have enough disabled people to fit the quota - you're hired without an interview. Avowed is gonna try and pull a Veilguard-but-done-right by taking as many Guaranteed Sales deals they can get. Veilguard only had the nVidia deal but Avowed has a much larger Guaranteed Sales deal to tap into, this is gonna get pushed as hard as Sony pushed Concord. Sony is at least equal to Microsoft and Concord couldn't be saved. It's become more than obvious to companies they can't keep this up. It's not even DEI alone ruining their games. You not missing much. It's not "a space game", and they never declare it - just loading screen between moons and planets. Not New Vegas on alien planets, story is linear and replayability is limited on who to include to your crew. II played it 3 times, 1st - to just stumble on each stone, failing almost every personal quest, second - to complete all crew's quests, and last one - solo, no crew. BEST experience. And since then long uninstalled and forgotten.

I have purchased every Obsidian game ever made, including the underlooked games such as Dragon Siege 3 and Alpha Protocol. I even supported Outer Worlds and Pillars of Eternity 2 even though it didn't really meet my expectations, and I still play Fallout New Vegas regularly. However, you can put Obsidian up there with Bethesda, BioWare, Ubisoft, Rocksteady and CD Projekt Red, as names that no longer mean anything to me, and I even go out of my way to ignore entirely.
I previously worked at MS - not in the games component, but the DEI parts were rife. They actively promoted Asians, Women, people of colour over old Whitey males. Even so far as to promote their capabilities over everyone else as how much they shine, but when I asked the woman promoted what she did to achieve this success - she was not able to articulate any of it at all. My then Skip manager said she was actively only recruiting females into the team. I did have a bullying case with HR (who did nothing btw), and the skip manager said "Well, no one else has complained" ... could you imagine if that was the line given to a woman in a HR complaint .... alas, nothing was done for me as old whitey male, I had to sort it out myself. They actually have sectional groups inside as part of DEI - one such called BAM: Blacks at Microsoft, run by white women of course. ASIANS at Microsoft, LATINX at Microsoft, and so on. I live in rural Wales, where the population is high 90's % wise Caucasian. Some years ago I had a summer position, where at the end of the season there would be a chance to get a full time position. I didn't get the position, even though I was local, spoke Welsh, was much closer to where it was and was good at my job. They gave it to a black man who had moved down from London. I would see him once a week whilst at work. I preferred to read a book on my breaks but I could hear him bragging about how he dossed on the job and had been unfaithful to his wife many times since he had moved down to Wales.

Also, I feel nobody can say that every modern piece of technology or medical advancement was done by a white male. I know that I have been passed over for less experienced people who are women or other.
One was my first job application after highschool for a front desk attendant at a local car dealership. I had an interest, I had experience with mechanics in highschool, I had experience volunteering, and I had experience working part time during highschool. They did not even call me. They hired a girl from my class who had zero experience (according to her, when I asked). So either they did somthing improper or she falsified her resume.
In university similar things happened I applied to various roles for the co-op program. However, Despite having a couple years of work experience at that point, and superior grades. Other people I knew with no experience were selected.
Those are just the two I know about. Now it may not have been a matter of sex or skin colour. But I know that in a fair hiring process I should have at least gotten a phone call, if not an interview.

It is essentially a situation where they are creating the disease, so that they can come in and sell you the treatment. All of the things like DEI weaken the power of a unified population by creating rifts that prey on our weaknesses in order to separate people into categories that are easy to manipulate.
If you actually look, it is pretty easy to see what is going on. They basically announce their intentions every year at the WEF.

They place huge fines on companies that don't have enough "diversity". It's not a secret that a lot of white people are in the creative industry. During the hiring process even if a person has more years of experience, skill, talent they wont hire them unless they have "the diversity points" the company needs to not pay the fine.
If they don't have enough disabled people to fit the quota - you're hired without an interview.
If they need 8 POC - they will look through the applied people and pick the ones with the skin color they need.

Avowed is gonna try and pull a Veilguard-but-done-right by taking as many Guaranteed Sales deals they can get. They're already on Microsoft's ecosystem and they think that being a flagship title by Microsoft being pushed on Microsoft platforms means it's a guaranteed success. Veilguard only had the nVidia deal but Avowed has a much larger Guaranteed Sales deal to tap into, this is gonna get pushed as hard as Sony pushed Concord. Please report on this stuff before it hits Live Pass.
Sony is at least equal to Microsoft and Concord couldn't be saved. It's become more than obvious to companies they can't keep this up. It's not even DEI alone ruining their games. Especially in the US/Canada after 2020 they further rushed to hire as many non straight white men as possible but only a few were qualified so they took whoever put their hand up. The lack of ability across the board is undeniable but especially storytelling/character development which they treat as though any can do it. I had two girls tell my employers at my last job that I was verbally sexually assaulting them at my work. However what they didn’t realize is that there was a security camera in the room they had accused me of committing the act in. I forced them to apologize to me so I wouldn’t file a criminal report on them for there actions.

You not missing much. It's not "a space game", and they never declare it - just loading screen between moons and planets. Not New Vegas on alien planets, story is linear and replayability is limited on who to include to your crew. II played it 3 times, 1st - to just stumble on each stone, failing almost every personal quest, second - to complete all crew's quests, and last one - solo, no crew. BEST experience. And since then long uninstalled and forgotten.

I have purchased every Obsidian game ever made, including the underlooked games such as Dragon Siege 3 and Alpha Protocol. I even supported Outer Worlds and Pillars of Eternity 2 even though it didn't really meet my expectations, and I still play Fallout New Vegas regularly. However, you can put Obsidian up there with Bethesda, BioWare, Ubisoft, Rocksteady and CD Projekt Red, as names that no longer mean anything to me, and I even go out of my way to ignore entirely.
I previously worked at MS - not in the games component, but the DEI parts were rife. They actively promoted Asians, Women, people of colour over old Whitey males. Even so far as to promote their capabilities over everyone else as how much they shine, but when I asked the woman promoted what she did to achieve this success - she was not able to articulate any of it at all. My then Skip manager said she was actively only recruiting females into the team. I did have a bullying case with HR (who did nothing btw), and the skip manager said "Well, no one else has complained" ... could you imagine if that was the line given to a woman in a HR complaint .... alas, nothing was done for me as old whitey male, I had to sort it out myself. They actually have sectional groups inside as part of DEI - one such called BAM: Blacks at Microsoft, run by white women of course. ASIANS at Microsoft, LATINX at Microsoft, and so on. They promoted no sectional groups at MS, however, these groups say otherwise ... and ... no sectional white groups though - that would probably be unfair, right?

I'm a senior artist in the industry and I don't have a surname like ''hansen'', I look white but I have curly hair similar to an hispanic and slightly bigger lips. Based on this I ask Hansen (racist surname) to politely move out and give the position to me, (I even interviewed for a lead artist position recently).
First thing first we slowly redesign the characters and we shift the mood closer to an Arx Fatalis game, also character design will slowly change de-fenotyping the fantasy creatures and to look actually like fantasy races and not like a black dude with blue paint on. No stance or political message will come to me, what matters will be the game and game only.
Don't worry guys this kind of stuff will have a cultural backlash, also Americans are losing they're power to make games. Every major productions i worked on got ruined just because americans started changing things to a point where it was highly un-interesting to the people working on it me included.
