Before 1994 maybe only 0.0001% of people on earth knew about Rwanda. There were in some mountains in east Africa, ordinary people living in small villages who knew nothing except from farming sweet potatoes and beans. The general public came to know about those people when they decided for no apparent reason, to slaughter one another . Now they have build an almost normal country mostly using the compassion of western nations who feel guilty for not assisting them during those terrible days. However, the same people are becoming extremely arrogant these days, believing they are better than anyone. That's the main reason you see no Rwandese name on the score sheet of AFCON before 10 years ago.

@@snapsorfly Because the good performing countries in the CHAN are those who have a functional football national league. It makes sense because this competition is only for players who play in their national league. If you look at the history of the competition, the most successful country is DRC winning the competition twice in 2009 and 2016. DRC has one of the most competitive league in Sub-Saharan Africa with teams such as TP Mazembe, AS Vita Club, DC Motema Pembe etc. The other country having won the league are Tunisia, Morocco and Lybia. With the exception of Lybia, these countries have high quality national league. Rwanda too has a good national league now. For the same reason national team which have been very successful in AFCON are not that good in CHAN because most of their players play in European leagues. That's why you don't see names like Cameroun, Senegal, Ghana, Nigeria, Ivory coast etc. They are excellent players in European leagues but a poor national league.
