Love seeing him in a fishbone shirt! Some of my favorite concert moments was the Lollapalooza in 93 when I saw both Tool and Fishbone along with many other great bands.
Their are so many amazing drummers in this world!that deserve more credit! The two who really standout to me are, Danny carry, and shanon larkin. Both very technical. Nothing but respect. ✊🤘
This man with the help of his friends just melted who I am as an entity separate from the things around me and completely stripped my internal dialogue away leaving me as nothing but just an essence of perception
Danny Carey IS the best drummer/percussionist on Earth. He was my inspiration since I was a pre-teen to get into the drums, and every time I listen his work....instant motivation. What a fuggin' legend.
Wait, only 10? It was divine intervention that Maynard and Danny got together. Both are the best at what they do A lot of bands change out drummers and to the average fan it goes unnoticed, but there are a few bands out there that could never replace a drummer without it just killing the band and Danny Carey is definitely one of them.
Technicaly the're probably as good or better drummers but what makes Danny stand out is his composing skills. Playing around and with drumpads, polyrhythm, speed changes, time signature changes, volume changes, etc. thus creating atmosphere and emotions. And all of this in a mesmerizing interplay with the rest of the band. And that is what making music is all about creating a feeling and emotions......
I can think of one time. ONE time, and it was when he was playing The Pot with a different band. He messed up a few times. But other than that, I've got nothing.
Portnoy, Peart, Copeland, Paul, Jordison, Weinberg are definitely up there with him. I'm sure Bonham was a huge influence to them all, along with Buddy Rich
And this is exactly why he gets to pull up behind the staples center in LA in his lambo and walk right in to watch the game at center court... great video 🥁💀💀🤘🏼
One of my favorite parts of the tool show is when I throw my hands in the air to the heavens after the beast mode drum solo on 46 & 2. SEE MY SHADOW CHANGING. mix the drum solo with my personal journey and its feeling I cant really describe in words
His creativity is just out of this world. How he comes up with all those poly rhythms is a million dollar question. He looks chilled when he's playing, when a ton of drummers out there still figuring out how to play like him.
This proves what drug use and burnt brain cells do for you. I'm a Tool fan too, but to rate Danny above Neil Peart is a joke! The man has been playing for 30+ years (age 67) and can STILL blow the doors off anyone.
GoldwingGary1 Remember that Carey is only about a decade younger and you’ll realize that Carey is a million times better. He’s pushing 60 and he still plays this shit like it’s nothing.
Danney Carey is one of those guys that can adapt to any situation that's put in front of him. An absolute phenom in the drumming world. Plus, he plays Pai IsTe cymbals. That makes him just that much better!
This guy joined tool because he felt sorry for them because he felt they weren't good enough to jam with. Little did he know that becoming apart of these guys was an awesome decision. Rock on dude.
Now they're gonna have to make a new list. That fill in Invincible (you know which one I'm talking about), that breakdown in 7empest, the entirety of Chocolate Chip Trip, which is basically Tool's version of Moby Dick by Led Zeppelin... so many great moments!
A drum battle between him and Chris Turner from Oceans Ate Alaska would be legendary. It would be like 2 drum gods battling... The world would probably end.
Mathieu Pharand They May be different in terms of style, but their technical drumming is similar, even though the both of them are so different. That’s why I think they’d be a perfect fit for a battle
The way that Danny plays reminds me of mine ...we both using two sticks .Just technique, harmony and magic separate us.
Maybe a few borders aswell, hard and language

I've always thought that. He is like a prog John Bonham, plays weird stuff with a strength that's similar to him. Two GOATs.
Don't even know him.
@@birkganze2977 drummer of Led Zeppelin. He's rated as the best rock drummer of all time on a ton of lists
Love seeing him in a fishbone shirt! Some of my favorite concert moments was the Lollapalooza in 93 when I saw both Tool and Fishbone along with many other great bands.
Rolling Stone magazine, never fans of metal, couldn’t help but call Ticks & Leeches the greatest drum performance.
Danny Carey is one of my favorite drummers of all time and I've been around since the 70s.
Uninstalling my drum kit after watching this
Lol
This comment literally made me LOL
🤣🤣🤣 already did that 10 years ago! 👊
Dammit I thought this was a video of *Dana CARVEY* and his best-of Wayne’s World drum solos 🥁
Thanks....I like to play *ting* 🤣
Party on...
*schwing*
me too! lulz!
Glad I wasn't the only one.
Their are so many amazing drummers in this world!that deserve more credit! The two who really standout to me are, Danny carry, and shanon larkin. Both very technical. Nothing but respect. ✊🤘
Danny Carey is always the best drummer on earth
Definately the hardest hitting drummer out there!!! Every Danny Carey piece is a masterpiece!
Danny is no doubt one of the greatest of all time! Tool's music is so mesmerizing it is easy to overlook how great he really is.
The drum outro to The Grudge is easily some of the greatest drum pieces written in music history.
G. Baker, Danny, and Neal are just really crazy drummers!
And Mario
MPEG compression is incapable of rendering his arms: interdimensional phase shifting.
He’s been the best drummer in the world since the late 80’s
Maynard going ape shit in front of Danny during 46&2 was hilarious 😂😂

Danny: sits at his drums
Announcer: GOD HAS ENTERED THE BATTLE
“How many symbols and toms do you want Danny?”
Danny- “Yes"
Hoglan Haake and Carey.... not necessarily in that order....
And Adler ;)
Adler, Dalior, and Duplantier have to be on that list
Lars Ulrich... nah just kidding
Flo from cryptopsy dennis from macabre danny from tool and adam jarvis from many bands
Add Duplantier and Lomardo and you got the top 5 metal drummers of all time
This needs remade and pnuema put in there as its absolute quality
Danny’s been the GOAT since at least Aenima in 1996 if not before.
Show me 10 times Danny Carey is not the best drummer in the world.
I know one. It was when he was in the womb. But even then, he was pretty good
hahaha Right?!?
@@djentrification1631 you mean that time he played with the 12 year olds? Lmao legendary
And this is exactly why he gets to pull up behind the staples center in LA in his lambo and walk right in to watch the game at center court... great video 🥁💀💀🤘🏼
Do you really need to list the amount of times Danny Carey was a god? HE IS ALWAYS A GOD!
One of my favorite parts of the tool show is when I throw my hands in the air to the heavens after the beast mode drum solo on 46 & 2. SEE MY SHADOW CHANGING. mix the drum solo with my personal journey and its feeling I cant really describe in words
Let's now add Danny aged 61 smashing "invincible" live on the latest tour just WOW
His creativity is just out of this world. How he comes up with all those poly rhythms is a million dollar question. He looks chilled when he's playing, when a ton of drummers out there still figuring out how to play like him.
Or that part in Lateralus where he plays 4 different rythyms at the same time for like a minute
Kornel Paroczai he upped the ante on pneuma for like 3 minutes
When Danny sits down to play drums he is the best drummer on Earth.
That brass kit of his is fkn legendary. I miss seeing it.
Goosebumps every damn time I watch any tool videos. They're all masters of their craft.
I'm a simple man. I see Dana Carvey and I click... but this guy is pretty good, too.
I hope Geddy Lee is watching I know hes bored here's a drummer to play with him
This proves what drug use and burnt brain cells do for you.
Who else has seen this video after listening to chocolate chip trip
Mhmm
Yee.
Dan Gollapalli thanks for reminding me.
Been here prior, but choccy trip brung me back ✊✊
I swear to christ, every time I listen to chocolate chip trip, it sounds different than the time before.
Danney Carey is one of those guys that can adapt to any situation that's put in front of him. An absolute phenom in the drumming world. Plus, he plays Pai
IsTe cymbals. That makes him just that much better!
Seeing Tool in concert is on my bucket list.
Danny Carey the god of thunder and time
Sup Dawgy
John Bonham*
John who??

This guy joined tool because he felt sorry for them because he felt they weren't good enough to jam with. Little did he know that becoming apart of these guys was an awesome decision. Rock on dude.
Now they're gonna have to make a new list. That fill in Invincible (you know which one I'm talking about), that breakdown in 7empest, the entirety of Chocolate Chip Trip, which is basically Tool's version of Moby Dick by Led Zeppelin... so many great moments!
One of the reasons I love Tool is because of Danny's amazing drumming
Fun fact: There are no lights in the arenas Tool play in, that's just Danny's grin from the enjoyment he gets playing drums.
I knew ticks and leaches was gonna be here once i read the title
Ive never clicked so fast!
WHAT did Katie Holmes ever do to you?
A drum battle between him and Chris Turner from Oceans Ate Alaska would be legendary. It would be like 2 drum gods battling... The world would probably end.
They're use two completely different drum styles tho
Mathieu Pharand They May be different in terms of style, but their technical drumming is similar, even though the both of them are so different. That’s why I think they’d be a perfect fit for a battle
His rhythm sense is phenomenal and he's so humble at same time
I've always dug the sound of roto toms, and Danny is, as far as I know really the only modern drummer who uses them a lot
