I kinda prefer night photos that really look like night, not "let's make everything as bright and sharp as possible with purple sky" stuff. Results are great !
I really like the Leica vibrant, did test the authentic as well, it`s very similar, not that punchy, but I am all in for more punchiness :) and yes, the color science is what`s best about this Xiaomi, cause I doesn't have the 1" sensor ,it doesn't have the best optics but... it nails it with the main camera, human faces, skin tone, also night photos, really dark, blue to dark sky, no "day" night like... it`s good for me.
From 02:54 did you reuse video inside the shopping centre that you filmed before? Running past the shops, walking in the parking basement, up the ramp?
Thanks for watching. Im fact I got foggy lens on the ultra wide camera but it for away. Tip for dealing with it: remove the Sim card slot and run cpu/gpu intensive benchmarks to heat it up. Some times this helps.
Good camera review. It has a good main camera. Like you said zoom is the weakness. No periscope. I found when trying it that even 5x indoors drops a lot in quality compared to the 2.6x default. It is well behind the Oppo Find x8, Vivo x200 and x200 pro mini and Oneplus 13 which are similarly priced for zoom. However, the main camera is good and you get a relatively compact phone that will be available globally in many markets
@VelianSpeaksTech Yeah, periscopes work much better for crops from the periscope compared to these standard upright telephotos. They'll surely upgrade to a periscope next year! Other than that it's a solid camera system
@@xyarte9524 There is a 3x periscope with a 1/1.95" sensor on the x200 pro mini. Much bigger and better sensor than the jn5. I've tried both and they are incomparable for the hybrid zoom beyond the default 2.6x and 3x levels
@@xyarte9524Not the same at all. The x200 pro mini has a 3x periscope with much better 1/1.95" sensor compared to the small 1/2.75" Jn5 sensor on the Xiaomi
No, the optical zoom is 2.6x sadly, not 3x False advertising. Xiaomi 15 is equipped with three Leica ultra-high-speed lenses, with the primary featuring a f/1.62 large aperture paired with a 1/1.31" Light Fusion 900 image sensor, offering faster speeds and superior image capabilities. The telephoto lens uses a new 28nm sensor, supporting richer features while implementing the highly-praised floating lens design. This telephoto achieves a super-large focus range from as close as 10cm to much larger ranges, allowing both telephoto portraits and magical close-up shots. The ultra-wide-angle lens has an equivalent focal length of 14mm and an ƒ/2.2 large aperture, capable of capturing landscape photos with exceptional visual impact. On the software front, Xiaomi AISP 2.0 platform has been upgraded and is capable of computing up to 4.3 billion pixels per second, speeding up the entire shooting process and capturing complex scenes vividly. The default toogle is even 2.6x
Thanks for watching Fraser. It seems no, at least no dedicated auto macro mode kicks in. There is also no manual "macro" mode, but the 2.6x can get to like 3-5cm, mostly 5cm.
@VelianSpeaksTech that's disappointing. The Xiaomi website says this "The telephoto lens uses a new 28nm sensor, supporting richer features while implementing the highly-praised floating lens design. This telephoto achieves a super-large focus range from as close as 10cm to much larger ranges, allowing both telephoto portraits and magical close-up shots"
I said it in some of the videos. Had some fogging just on UW, went away. Put up cpu throttling test on 100 threads or 3dMark extreme stress test. Remove sim card tray before hand. Might help.
Hi there, does the Xiaomi 15 video mode have the smooth ' slider ' zoom or the zoom ' wheel ' ? I liked the slider much more, I don't know why they changed it since HyperOS2. Also the special audio recording modes in video pro mode got worse. Front mode sounds terrible now, dull and phase shifting. I bought myself an extra Xiaomi 14 / HyperOS 1.22 and plan not to update it to OS2. I wish you a Xiaomi 2025 😊
Honestly I didn't test the Vivo X200 mini, but I ll bet my horses on Snapdragon 8 Elite, although latest MTK chips are very good and the 9400 in particular...

Well the Xiaomi 15 by default is the "none Pro/none Ultra" phone, so hence only 2.6x optical zoom. Pro will get you 5x optical and above and the Ultra will get you the best zoom I guess.

Does the HyperOS 2 have double tap to lock? Last time I heard that miniscule feature was only available in Poco Phones
Only on the lock screen to AOD
Can it go 4k 60fps in ultra wide?
Yes
