2020 Yamaha YZ250FX | First Impressions

- The Yamaha YZ250FX received many updates for the 2020 model year, many of which were carried over from the 2019 YZ250F motocross bike. Some of the stand out revisions include a new frame designed for much more rigidity, a reworked engine with brand new head, and Mikuni's EFI system which combined with the GYTR Power Tuner App allowing the owner to quickly adjust air/fuel ratios and ignition timing maps to adapt the bike to your riding conditions. We had to see how these changes felt in the real world, so we sent TJ down to southern Utah with a 2020 YZ250FX for a great day of riding and to get his first impressions on this newly updated bike.

Nice review! I just bought the 2020 YZ250FX a month ago. Super nice to ride and can’t wait to get more hours on it. Hopefully will start seeing some aftermarket parts hitting the market soon.
Man that’s a great machine!
I bought a 2020 Kx250 and I’m super happy with it but the Yamaha is also more than interesting 💸
I was like wtf is Leone Messi reviewing bikes ... 😂😂😂
Kwplai Jamatia Same here...😂😂😂
Sweet, looks like the next bike to ride. Super nice. 👍👍
Best keep getting better...
It took me a little while to figure it out but anytime the blue map light is lit, it kills the low end. It doesn’t matter what map you put in position two. The old bike had 44 fork springs and the new one has 46s. I’m going back to 44s. In my experience so far the old fx had a longer fuel range. I’m getting 5-10 miles less per tank.
That silencer is awsome looking being all short 👍👍
Hey, will you guys be doing something similar for the 2020 WR250 as well?
Sick bike
nice video
Did you have issues with fouling plugs and having to adjust your CO setting by chance? Mine seems to be running rich from the showroom floor. I'm running a leaner map, but it still feels like it should be a bit snappier. Just curious! Love the vids, guys!
I know this is a random question...but what lavalier mic are you using? Sounds great!
Thanks for sharing this video! You’ve guys helped me gain knowledge as a beginner ride and have gotten good quality products! One question, where is this place located at or what’s it called? Seems like a fun ride!
This video was filmed by Warner Valley in Southern Utah!
Wow, what a surprise. I clicked on this expecting to see Chase doing his thing.
kings17court you should buy the X it's waaay Better than the FX
@@j-rox8551 how come? I need help deciding what bike to get
Bought a 2020 YZ250X back in September , loving it .
I got my 2020 YZ250X in July, loving it too!
BigSkyBrews 0311 congrats man , how was the Factory jetting for where you are ?
@@RelentlessCo It was fine...BeRad's videos suckered me into getting a Lectron Carb for it haha haven't installed it yet though, waiting for it to warm up a bit since I live in Massachusetts. But i haven't even changed the jetting in it since it's been cold and it still runs fine, maybe just slightly rich.
BigSkyBrews 0311 lmfao I was on the edge of getting a lectron as well. I’m about 800ft , bike was crazy rich from factory . Would idle fine and run good as long as I was wide open but slow technical stuff or just casual riding it’d load up and foul . Went through about 6 plugs in 8 hours haha. Rejetted it last weeekend now it’s like a whole new bike. Let me know how the lectron works for you
@@RelentlessCo will do!
Do you think about this bike would be suitable for a 6’1” 235 pound beginner rider?
I love riding
I have a ktm 390 adv and want to trade it in for either this bike or the 450fx… does anyone know if the 450 is just way too powerful? My 390 is pretty tame but I want a more off road worthy bike..
Nice dirt bike
How is .2 of a gallon increase in fuel capacity impressive?
How do these types of bikes go as far as low speed stalling, overheating, ect.. I like to put around 75% of the time woods riding. While also being able to rip on a light bike the other 25%..ktm 350 better for that?
eli hamou my ‘17 250FX is a blast in the PNW woods. Loaded a good map for the slow technical stuff. Over 80hrs no flame outs, plenty of low grunt to climb hills and no overheating yet. Tubliss in the rear, rad guards and a a proper bash plate is all I added. Set the suspension for my style of riding and let her rip.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I was hoping they brought a re designed 2 stroke
thats my dream bike
Mine too
Same here
Yessir
Same here but I guess a 21 now!!!
00:35 you looked like Messi haha
I do mostly trail riding and I'm still debating between the 250f and 250fx
go a fx
Nice bike, chassis welding looks a bit lumpy though.
Sounds like this bike is more a 250F than a woods bike. Wonder how it handles out in the wild PNW rocky, rooty trails.
Works great in the whoops, fine ,but will it hook up on a greasy ,root strewn hill side?
Probably good!
How much could a person mess up the mapping playing around with it. Like suspension clickers and a lack of knowledge you could really get lost. Just asking because I’d fear I’d be like not sure what I’m doing!
Not much cause you can always just reset it back to the standard mode…
ชอบจัง
I have a 2004 Yamaha ttr 125
Nice review as long as your lok for riding impressions of a cross country/ woods bikes proficiency at motocross. Kinda sick of those. Go ride it in the trees, with rocks. Climb some hills in the woods as well as the fast stuff👍
Will the power on this bike work for 200+ pound riders? Test rider weight would be good info.
I would say that depends on your skill level. As a novice/beginner then it wouldn't be too bad. Definitely a little under powered but the Yamaha does have one of the best 250 motors in its class. If you're more of an intermediate rider or better, then I would suggest a 450. - Chase
Is it torquey?
Whats the difference between a yz250f and a yz250fx. (Im knew to this dirt bike thing)
The FX model is the "cross country" version of the F model. It has a wide ratio transmission which makes certain gears taller to give more top end speed to the bike, comes with an 18" rear wheel instead of a 19, has a kickstand. The F model is built more specifically for motocross.
Can you guys help me? I wanna trade in my 2018 Raptor 700R for an FX. I want a bike that will challenge me and last me years, I want to do some hard enduro. Something Lesotho's Roof Of Africa. I'm stuck between the 250 & the 450. Can you do a pros and con of each bike
I need .
okay.. silly question.. I'm a bigger guy.. 6'4" 225lbs.. would the 250FX be too small or underpowered for me? Should I look at the 450? Thanks
At that weight I would definitely consider the 450. Even if you're a newer rider, as you progress and get better, chances are you'll want to step up the 450 regardless - Chase
@@rmatvmc Thank you
how much..
hey thats not chase
Did they shave 25lbs off of it?
I wish these were 300's
Build the wall 👍
FX mean 4 strokes enduro ?
But without handguard and light 😢
Oh ic thanks 👍🏻
Yeah the WR250F has a light and stuff but it’s heavier. I guess it’s more of their trail type. ruclips.net/video/z9lHjHU0om8/видео.html
Since it has a battery you are easily able to add a L.E.D bar wich is way lighter and way brighter then the wr lights anyways
รถแรง ต้อง YAMAHA
Is the 2020 worth the extra compared to a 2018, 2019 bike for anyone who’s not a top notch rider!
Whichever year the 250FX got the updates as the 250F, (I believe it was 2019) you want to get that year or newer. - Chase
To me, this is top of the pops for a 4 stroke. But 2 stokes for life. 🤣👍🇺🇸
LostInPA I mean 2 strokes kinda suck in everywhere compared to four stroke besides maintenance
Chris Hansen How dare you! Lol
LostInPA don’t get me wrong I have fun on my cr250 but if I’m doing any riding even on a track my crf250x is much more comfortable and fun
Chris Hansen jump on a KTM 250 or 300 and then let me know what you think. Much more options to tune the low end and they’re lighter. These new 2 strokes are nothing like the old ones, the power isn’t so on or off anymore unless you want it to be. Keep in mind that I ride a 250SX track bike out on enduro and it does great. I couldn’t do that with my old CRF250R without a lot of struggling
What’s the difference between the yzf and the yzfx both 2020 250
The FX is the off-road/trail model. It comes with an 18" rear wheel, kickstand, and the transmission is a wide ratio as well.
Rocky Mountain ATV MC which has a higher top speed ?
Is it a Leo Messi at the beginning of the video?🤔
Fuel Addicted omg hahaha
This bike for motocross or enduro cross?
The YZ250FX is designed more for cross country and enduro style racing.
Não sabia que o Messi andava de moto!!!!
Eu nao sabia tambem! haha. Mas ele veio aqui e disse que ele quer comecar andar de moto! Que legal eh? - Chase
Is that a two stroke bike ?
Ésos motores que tienen muy recto la parte del aciento son incómodo Hacen que uno se vaya de boca porque no hay seguridad en la nalga
what do you mean by FX?
Four Stroke Cross Country. For GNCC, Harescrambles and such.
Cooper, Ferrandis, and barca are makin me think twice about those heavy YZ yamahas... make them lighter because KTM builds the lightes bikes but are less reliables
Yamahas can take a beating but I guess you pay with some more weight.
Motor kaleng
How can yamaha realistically step it up anymore? There's almost nothing left to improve.
Give us a steel frame, 300cc 2 stroke hard enduro monster. 👍 Would slay the Euro bikes.
@@lostinpa-dadenduro7555 325 kit on a 250x......
hydraulic clutch would be nice
BlaZteR 6 Good thinking. 👍
Ineed to sell my kwasaki 👍
Bike football, Messi?
The very very 1st thing you do to your 2020 is remove that kick stand hahah
Might as well just stick with the 250f plus it's cheaper
👏👏👏👍👌🇳🇴
Sounds good and all but he sounds like a paid advisor
Another garbage 4 stroke.
Another dumb comment
Lol.
My wr250f has over 500 engine hours and still runs like a million bucks with only 2 valve adjustments and 20500 kms on it I would love to see a 2 stroke do that
