    Its really good of you to post this video. It’s a great looking bike and very powerful. Having watched your video I’m less convinced it’s a viable starter bike. For me it feels like a 2nd or 3rd bike.
    Unless the A2 conversion actually helps so the rider can use more of the gears and get to enjoy the bike more with 47bhp before moving up to 94bhp. For a couple of £100s it could be worth doing even if you have passed your test and achieved A Licence status.
    That way you can save on depreciation by not having to buy a new CBR500R first.
    One reviewer from Washington DC bought a new CBR500R and said he should have bought a second hand one first because it was great to learn on aand was cheap to run but after 6 months wanted something bigger!
    It seems an impossible decision. I hope you are still safe and have grown more into your ride. 👍

    I have had an r1, an Aprilia tuono and a Daytona 675. This bike is better then all of them on the road. It’s much more fun to have a bike you can use all of the power on. I would have a Daytona as a track toy though.

    Great review mate. i just passed my Mod 2 at the end of November so I’m looking for my first big bike for the Spring, and the mat black version has caught my eye cause it looks great. I’ve never been interested in bikes until last year, so I’m doing all my homework now to get up to speed and I’m wondering if this would be a good first bike.
    I’m not interested in racing and hitting 100mph in an instant because I did all that in my Supra where it felt a lot safer, but I would be interested in cruising around and just enjoying riding with the occasional blast. I thought the CBR500 with the same paint job initially, but read some things that made me think I would get bored of it quickly with the lack of power and then want go change the bike, where as with something like this as a good all rounder, it may be better. What do you think as an owner?

    • @ToxicChillz
      @ToxicChillz  2 года назад

      I had the same choice, cbr500r or 650R, went with the 650 due to the 4 cylinder nature and more power. Its not a bike you'd get bored of the lack of power, its a bit of a rocket.

    I picked mine up in May and I can't fault it. As you say, it's as fast as you want it to be, but also perfectly happy in town at 30mph in top gear.
    I fitted a tail tidy. It wasn't on for long. You get absolutely smothered in crap, but worse is the underseat area where all the wiring looms and fuses, etc, are located which becomes saturated with water. I didn't think that would be good long term.

    • @ToxicChillz
      @ToxicChillz  4 года назад

      I love mine, it definitely can be fast if you want it to be. Mine has been out in all the imaginable weather's and is still doing fine. Honestly the looms and fuse thing does concern me a little bit, just with how much it does rain in the UK. Ill get in touch with honda and see what they say.

    Thanks to this video I’ll be sticking with a Ninja 400. I’ll never need to go 120mph. And getting 40 mpg is really bad. But you you shouldn’t be going WOT on every ride either. But I live in a much denser city too. Usually in the city it’s 40 to 50 mph anyway. Going fast for a few hundred yards isn’t worth it.

      @Ohmz27 4 года назад +1

      I've had my CBR650R for a few months now, and not had any real issues. The engine did run hot during break in period, but i'd expect that - afterwards it's been absolutely fine. Not had properly sweltering weather in the UK yet tho, but been out for hours on several nice days and heat wasn't a problem.
      My old CBR650F would get roasting hot after riding for a few hours in normal weather, and would just suck in the summer. Maybe heat will be a bit unpleasant on the 650R too when summertime fully comes around, but so far it seems to manage heat a lot better in my experience. I had a doublebubble windscreen on the 650F, which probably made it a bit worse for heat too now that I think about it.

    • @wirenut3020
      @wirenut3020 3 года назад +1

      I had an older Kawasaki 650 and never had this Honda cbr 650r but the inline 650 is going to be much faster and a higher quality bike than the ninja 650. The ninja will have more power down low and the Honda will have to be wrung out to access its extra power. The ninja will be easier to ride for a beginner and probably more forgiving but either of these bikes is doable for you.

    • @awnis001
      @awnis001 4 года назад +2

      MT-07 has notorious rust issues. people have replaced swing arms and are still getting rust on their 3rd OEM swing arm even after treating them with anti rust aftermarket products. MT-09 suffers from a rusty OEM chain and rear shock. In short, do not buy yamaha bikes if you live near the sea or where humidity rises above 60% or if you plan to keep the bike for more than 2 years. Honda has had bullet proof bikes but 650r is pretty new to make any informed judgements. However, 650F has been bulletproof and pretty reliable bike, so you can bet 650r will follow its footsteps.

    • @ToxicChillz
      @ToxicChillz  4 года назад

      Personally I would pick this or a tracer version, simply because the fairings help a lot to keep the weather off you, and on motorways/freeways it will be much better as you can dip below the screen or like I have, a bubble screen that will put it above you rather then straight at you

    Hi there from Western Canada ! I was wondering what was your opinion on OEM Dunlop D214 tires ? Is it Good,Bad,Ugly or get rid of it ASAP ? Another question, Do you find the riding position is hard on your back or another words , is it too sporty ? Thanks for your review btw

    • @ObitoUchihaisgay
      @ObitoUchihaisgay 4 года назад +2

      Sporty bit very little weight on your wrist so pretty comfortable. The tires are fine when warm but not really usable in the wet or cold, would swap them pretty early if you can.afford to. Go take a test ride with it :)

    • @ToxicChillz
      @ToxicChillz  4 года назад +1

      For me the position is sporty but not uncomfortable, its canted forward so you do have a bit of weight on your wrist which can be negated by gripping the tank with your legs. Ive been using the OEM dunlop tyres in all conditions, ice, hail, sleet, rain and obviously dry in the summer months. The tyres for me tend to just take a bit of time to warm up, however I have had the traction control kick in a few times when riding on cold, damp/wet roads especially on cold tyres. For me ill probably replace the pair once one of them is at its limit, the tyres are definitely good enough unless you want to get right up to speed on a track or whatever in colder conditions. Ill probably go with the michelin road 5's

    Thanks for this review man. I have an 07 Ninja 650 and I've been looking at getting this gorgeous bike. Most of my riding is commuting on country roads. The Honda has more power but maybe not as much torque down low? I don't want a supersport, because I want something reasonably comfortable... and I don't need to race my buddies on the highway at insane speeds on a regular basis. Do you think I would be happy with this bike?

    • @ToxicChillz
      @ToxicChillz  4 года назад +3

      The bike would have way enough power, a lot of people say that the bike may not have torque down low, but to me it pulls away in 2nd and 3rd at any speed without any complaints, so I wouldn't be worried about that. If you can I suggest getting a test ride on one when it comes to what the seating position is like. For me it's not to leaned forward and I've done 230 mile + days with little to no issues

Sometimes having to pull in the mirrors to get past those who try and stop any bike filtering, but either way its been fine for the commute, I generally commute about 20-45 mins everyday and its perfect, well behaved and not to snatchy when you get on the throttle. It pulls and can get you out of any trouble if needed, but will also pleasently sit at below 30mph in 6th gear with no complains and just a smooth increase in power when you open the throttle.

    How on earth are you getting 200miles to a full tank? The most I've had is 130 even with taking it easy, I'll put it down to my lack riding experience and ability to use the bike more efficiently.

    • @madmike171
      @madmike171 4 года назад +1

      @@madmike171 I've still got the OEM tyres on so that could be a factor, he might of changed out tyres early but that's still quite a jump from 130-150miles to 200miles. I've just ordered a set of Bridgestone BT21 so they might get a bit better fuel economy, but being honest I've not got a sports bike to try conserve fuel 😉🏍️💨

    • @ToxicChillz
      @ToxicChillz  4 года назад +1

      Most of the time I spend riding is commuting, but I don't tend to go revving the nuts of it, it definitely does fluctuate for me. If I'm riding hard then I definitely see a fairly big drop in efficiency. However taking it easy and just plodding around, on the motorway just chilling at 70mph its definitely quite good in 6th gear for fuel economy, but that's just been my experience. I did a ride of 110 miles to the lakes and didn't need to fuel up till I was on the way back. I had 2 bars left by the time I fuelled up, just to make sure I had enough to get home.

    • @craigdewar6301
      @craigdewar6301 4 года назад

      @@ToxicChillz Yeah I was using it to commute as well, I try and try to ride efficiently to and from work but theres almost always some reason to make use of that power ;) If you haven't already, get rid of those OEM tyres. I managed to get around 4800miles on them and thats with quite a bit of messing around and never felt unsafe, even in the rain. But the new shoes I put on my bike are Bridgestone Battleaxe BT16 and the level of confidence for grip is soo much more (to be expected when compared to OEM tyres of course)

    • @ToxicChillz
      @ToxicChillz  4 года назад +1

      Abs is something that is there to help in certain situations. Relying on it as if it will stop you no matter what is a rather stupid decision. If i mentioned relying on it in the video, I meant that it will kick in, if needed and nothing more.

    • @hemansx
      @hemansx 4 года назад +1

      You don't rely on it, but it saves your arse in those split second situations. ABS has saved me twice in my biking career, without it my wheels would have definitely locked and I'd have gone straight over the handlebars or low/highsided.

      If you don’t know where youre going, google maps on the phone on the “dash” like that is a life savior. Quick glance and you know where you are. Versus, theres a phone in my pocket and i think i missed my turn but i don’t know and now i have to stop completely to empty my pockets and check my phone. RAM mounts are amazing! Now i wouldn’t recommend trying to text or read texts on it but for maps its the same as any cruiser these days with gps screens built in.

      The only reason I have my phone mounted there is because there isn't any better way to mount it. Also I use the phone for gps and have a bluetooth headset connected while riding so I can answer calls without touching the phone, its just there for emergency, the bluetooth that is. The phone I use for maps when I'm riding to a place I have never been or touring. For example if I was following a programmed route, then I barely have to glance down to see the phone, as I can angle it so it is in my view.

      Toxic Chillz your answer confirms my point. If you think using your device while riding is safe for you and other road users go right ahead. But do not encourage other bikers to do so by using them on your videos and defending there use in these messages. Finally, the law will not look in your favour if you are on the phone in an incident. Wake up.
