Frenzy, the greatest live TV performance that I have ever seen or will in my humble lifetime. Geordie Walker, sublime genius, raven, kickass bass, and the demonic hob goblin upfront. Note to all the so called rock bands masquerading in 2022 you haven't a clue.
When you read a list of rock's greatest frontmen chances are Jaz Coleman's name will not be mentioned but it should be, he is fucking amazing. This performance of Frenzy is incredible
Saw KJ support Joy Division in February 1980. Youth was wearing an immaculate white suit, a cross between a fashion model and Sid Vicious. Both groups were superb. What a great night!
That version of ‘Dominator ‘ is so friggin good. The guitars sound amazing, Jaz has great vocals, and the electronic clap is so key. My kids just pulled out their toy instruments and started to jam along to it. Amazing.
R.I.P. Paul Raven. 12 years gone today. This was the first time I saw Paul on bass, having replaced the amazing Youth (who's now back in Killing Joke), and his style was so different. A lot more of a rock bassist than the funky Youth.
I vividly recall watching this performance on, 'The Tube.' I was 13 and this completely blew me away. That bassline is epic. There is so much energy and power going on here. Outstanding. If armoured divisions produced music, this would be it!

I remember watching this live on TV on a Friday night in 1983 before hitting the pub. This live version is better than the studio versions in my opinion.
Fantastic - I saw them live at Trafalgar Square CND rally in 1980 and then a couple of years ago. Same manic energy then as now, superb! One of the best live bands that I have ever seen.
The Tube always congratulated themselves because they had George Michael or Tina Turner on but REALLY we watched it for this type of artist being on earlier in the show. Turn it off for the ultra mainstream headline tossers. Saw Killing Joke in Nottingham last Friday and they’re as good if not better than this. Fucking awesome band.
This was that short-lived mid-80s Killing Joke lineup that featured Brian Johnson on bass (on loan from AC/DC) and Wayne Gretzky on guitar (on loan from the Edmonton Oilers). A+

Kboy Their rendition of 'Eighties' on The Tube was a massive pivotal moment for me as a 13 year old. Still holds tremendous emotional resonance. I agree with you as a point of pure TV music perfection. Cheers mate.

Raja! I Fully agree with you. Killing Joke came from another age where individuality and creativity and creating your OWN record label was energised by SELF BELIEF. It all seemed to go down hill once the X Factor and Simon Cowe and other Millionaire Controllers of the musuc scene started interfering with UK music scene. ALL they seem to be interested in is singers with perfect voices to sing Eurovision contest type songs now. Sad really.
What happened to music? Record Company Executives looking out for PRETTY PEOPLE they can control and manipulate into a sellable product. As for CREATIVITY, INDIVIDUALITY, PURPOSE, well, that’s gone out of the window. That’s what happened music. Real musicians, bands, will exist. New bands will create a following on an underground level and people will buy tickets to see them live. For now, auto tune, lipsinking/ miming, looking pretty on photo shoot and on stage is the norm. Where’s the next generation of metal, punk, new wave bands? We shall wait.
Not true - record companies sell what sells... if they don't someone else will. The truth is, people still are making music similar to this, but people ain't buying it. The whole of human musical output has gone in a million different directions, so there aren't big genres that people coalesce around - although there are movements. The only degree of "control" that is going on is spotify (etc) algorithms that try to predict what will be popular, then promote on the basis of that. The bottom line though is that "taste" is coming from the audience, not the companies. Even TV (which I have been boycotting for over 7 years now) is driven largely by demand. Absolute shite "talent quest" shows are on TV not because they're forced down people's throats, but because people (apparently) cannot get enough of them. If I'm wrong - there's an epic money-making opportunity waiting for you. Either find or start a punk band, and do it yourself. You won't be alone though - because actually, quite a lot of other people are already doing it, but they ain't selling. My current fav is this : ruclips.net/video/U7gbFMWZWlo/видео.html
