Always appreciate you creating these videos, even when it isn’t about a product you sell! This is why I’m always willing to spend money on parts and merch from you! (ramen hoodie ftw)
The battery in my '23 BRZ died about one month after picking it up. Had it replaced under warranty and no issues since then. Never found out why it died.. Thanks for the content.
This makes a lot of sense. Imma b honest, ive been having to jump my car often, and was lookin to replace the battery as a whole. Never knew i could just do this. Ill do this n see if it fixes the issue. Fingers crossed.
It's weird toyota went with a Flooded lead-acid battery, I haven't seen one in decades... my last 3 cars had Sealed Lead-Acid Batteries. These you to be the main type of car batteries from the 60's to late 90's. It's antiquated battery tech.

I wasent aware of that. Last summer my battery felt low on my BRZ tS. I was charging it about each month until i realised the level where low. Add distilled water like you said, gave it a charge with a intelligent charger and she still feels like new.
I had a dream last night about my 86 battery dying on me 5 meters out the driveway LOL, definitely swapping this out for another. It was a horrifying dream
Before working on a car battery I think you want to put A LOT of emphasis that a car battery is filled with sulfuric acid. It is corrosive and cause serious or permanent injury. It will severely burn the skin and eyes.
In Germany we have like 50+ GRZ owners (me included), who had dead batteries after like 4 to 6 days leaving the car parked. Anyone already found the electricity sucking module? I can see with the App of my Liteblox LiFePo battery, that like around every 20 times locking the car a module stays on with about 0.4-0.7 A consumption. Any solution?
@@KronosX3Thave you seen the damage the lead acid batteries (fumes, spilled acid, corrosion of the terminals) can cause to a chassis? Also these oem batteries do fail often. Anyhow I guess we all have facts and opinions
The Anti Gravity battery is not a cheap replacement, but the weight savings and ease of use are amazing. And with the backup mode, I never have to worry about it going dead on me.
He says it quickly early on, but missed it the first time, and I was looking for it cause I knew it, so a reminder, do not put tap water in your battery. Used only distilled water. The minerals in tap water are not friendly to your battery
Definitely didn't need to take it out(as I mentioned), but how am I supposed to show people clearly how to go about this with the battery stuck in the corner of the engine bay? haha
Yeah, he said that. He wanted to demonstrate the process for the audience and show the indicator levels in the side of the battery, which you cannot see when it is installed.
"Sorry I can't go to the meet today I forgot to water my battery"
Thanks for pointing this out. It's been so long since I had a battery that wasn't maintenance free, I didn't even think about it.
Always happy to help!
This actually applies to the so-called maintenance-free batteries too!
What’s the typical maintenance schedule for the battery, didn’t hear it mentioned in the vid?
Great information. Safety glasses are a must for battery handling.

Bro your videos are so helpful thank you so much for sharing them with me ❤
thank you for this, ive seen a lot of posts lately about dead batteries
I've had my fair share of moments where I went to start the car and got nothing haha
Thanks a lot as always Kevin! Your videos have helped my GT become much less stressful to maintain and DIY!
Thank you for all the support throughout the years!
THANKS FOR THIS BRODIE. ONLY 3K MILES IN ON MY TRUENO. BUT WILL KEEP MY EYE ON THE BATTERY LEVEL EVERY OIL CHANGE. THANKS.
NAMASTE 🙏🏽 FROM BROOKLYN.
Always love to see the 6 minute Two Minute Tuesday videos! Cheers
Wish I seen this before having to replace my battery last week! Luckily the replacement was free
Thanks. ❤

I've never heard of this silliness, but there it is right in the manual... 🙃

Use a quarter it fits those slots perfectly. And I use syringe for adding water.
I thought we'd stepped away from old lead acid cells and went to SLABs (Sealed Lead Acid Batteries). Glad I remember this!
Hi Kevin. Disconect IBS sensor for better charging battery.
Put a deposit down on a base model in red excited to pick it up later this month
Congrats! They're fantastic cars!

I needed this video
GR86 supplied into the UK were delivered without an alarm!
How often should do this? When the alarm goes off?
How often should this be checked and maintenanced ?
My boss was pretty cheap on our service trucks. I’d always check it once every 6 months.
I had a dream last night about my 86 battery dying on me 5 meters out the driveway LOL, definitely swapping this out for another. It was a horrifying dream
Refill that battery!
Why are the bonnet struts placed opposite? One is upright and the other upside down?
Nothing resets in the car when you take the battery out?
Just a friendly reminder that eye protection is a good idea when you could accidentally be exposed to the sulfuric acid in the battery.
Yes, why does the GR sit for weeks on end?
Did you hear about the new purple BRZ coming out
Of course!
Did not know the battery needed this kind of maintenance, and I also did not know that the car alarm default is set to off.
There is a Min-Max level on the battery case if its the Panasonic brand

How often should you check the battery levels?
What mileage did the car have when u filmed this? I'm at 22k, thinking I should check mine 🤔
I know this is random but any tips on long term storage, especially outdoor storage, ive been worried about my car lately. thank you
How many miles should you do this service?
Why is the battery not sealed? I haven't heard of a single car with this setup.
Mine died 1.5 years in and subaru would not cover for it. My costco battery works even better then the stock one.
The "series" was on hiatus forever :P

I haven't looked into this, but I've had my car die more rapidly than expected as well. I'll let you know if I find anymore info!
Wish I would have known sooner 🤦♂
My gr has 23k miles when should I do it?
I'd recommend just taking a peak at the fluid levels when you do oil changes.
@@KevinVo thanks Kevin
bruh why is this a thing lol good know. We need some update vids man! Looks like there’s something new in the engine bay 👀
lol don't bother, leave it alone. cover under warranty. I work for them, Subaru batteries are junk. there's always one one a tester throughout the day
Should have replaced it with an Antigravity battery.
But this is free! haha
Oh yeah, why spend a couple bucks on a gallon of distilled water when you can just pay $800 to replace the entire battery to save a few pounds?

You never said what type of water can be added!!!!!
Pretty certain I mentioned distilled water, but yeah make sure it's distilled water!
Kevin says “a ten millimeter wrench and a bit of distilled water” at about the 0:46 second point of the video.
He says it quickly early on, but missed it the first time, and I was looking for it cause I knew it, so a reminder, do not put tap water in your battery. Used only distilled water. The minerals in tap water are not friendly to your battery

Appreciate you!
You did NOT need to take battery out
0:48 He said that. Better for the camera to take it out though.

Im almost at 50k miles and haven't checked the levels whatsoever 😳
