Hey Amigo, I’m a drummer, errr a Very old drummer (71) and needless to say I’ve lost more than I’ve retained. I’ve always been a Huge fan of Latin music and the beats. I recently purchased a set of medium ranged bongos, Latin Percussion and I love ‘em. I can’t tell you how informative your videos have been for me. You do a masterful job in relating the instrument in breaking down the step by step instructions. Thank you for so much for your time and effort. Take Care.....
Hallo sir good evening I love to play bongos Now my age is 60. You may laugh. But I Love to play in the Church. Thanks for Teaching so nicely. I will try learn from you. God bless
Why do you think anyone would laugh? 60 is "NOT" old if that is what you are referring to... and ... it has nothing to do with loving to produce beautiful music, art, whatever. Enjoy your journey.
Even if i play bongos for years, I watched this vid, always things to learn. Thank to you I bought a ATV Aframe, amazing instrument. This channel makes great work, thanks ;)
I watched like the first 10 seconds and the before continuing on with the video, I watched you’re video on how to properly hold the bongos between your legs - which was surprisingly easy even though I’m someone with only skin and bone (well, I guess I have most of my fat and muscle in my legs, everywhere else has nothing lol) - and I had already known that you were supposed to hit it on the edge with your fingertips, so then once I had my bongos in position, I was already doing it pretty well, and it came naturally! I was even doing the percussive stroke all on my own! Granted, I do have musical experience, but I own or play any other percussive instruments - besides piano. But I think that because of my musical experience, I had learned quite a few things just through osmosis alone, and it seems like my ability to play the bongos showed that. None of that meant that this videos wasn’t any help to me! I learned the names of the bongos; a basic rhythm; and, despite already realizing through experimentation (and from prior knowledge) that you could put you’re finger in the middle of the drum to mute it or produce a higher pitch, I still didn’t think about the different _ways_ to mute it, like the difference between putting your finger _pads_ on the drum, and putting your finger _tips_ on the drum. This video was really helpful, because even when you were saying some things that I already knew without them being said, it was still helpful to have those things actually stated! Didn’t mean for this to be so long! I was just planning to say that I was already doing a lot of things naturally, but it then became a review, haha! TL;DR Thanks for the great video! This video really helped, and I learned quite a bit despite having prior musical knowledge - just not much with the bongos! You’ve earned yourself a subscriber! ❤️ Although, I’m not sure how hard it is to earn me as a subscriber, because I subscribe to all sorts of channels, and will subscribe pretty quickly. However, that doesn’t mean that I set a low bar, it just means that there are lots of channels out there that are able to make good, quality that appeals to me! And you’re one of them, which still something to be proud of! 😄 I write long comments all the time, but I’m _PRETTY SURE_ this one takes the cake! However, I don’t think it’s my longest comment in terms of the amount of time spent typing it. Anyways, I really need to stop myself! Keep up the good work man! 👍 Ok, now it’s finally the end! No more writing! I’m done!
As a local professional conga bongo drummer this video is great for the beginning bongo drummer & you in the past helped my bongo skills to being the professional bongo drummer that I am today!!! Plus the LP Aspire bongos sound better than what you are using just heads up! These bongos you are using aren't bad just more vintage sounding bongos.
I’ve just started playing around with bongos in my 50’s. I have played various instruments (guitar my main instrument since my early teens). Always wanted to try bongos. I found it interesting that striking closer to the edge on the large drum was suggested as an “unsatisfying” tone; I quite like the sound created-thinner maybe but seems more resonant, sharp and ringing. Maybe a matter of taste? Coming from guitar there is an unlimited variation in style and tone; I imagine bongos/percussion players have some differences in their tonal preferences too though.
Hello from the Philippines. Thank you for all the videos you share. I recently purchased a Tycoon Ritmo Series Bongo. Your tutorials has helped me alot with the basics. I want to ask if you can share a video on how to play Bongos with House music. I am a DJ and Producer mainly Afro House. Thank you very much.
Hello thank you for the very informative lessons. I got a new set of low end Tycoon bongos and I am a total beginner. I tried tuning the drums, the hembre still sounds dull and doesn't "ring" in the middle of the drums. Is that ok? If i tighten more i am afraid i might tear the skin. Any advice? Thanks a million in advance.

You make me smile.. I just finished 73 and newly started to bongos. Don't feel bad with yourself. We have so many things more to learn sir.
Thanks for these easy to follow videos. As a percussionist, I’ve never received any training on how to obtain correct tones. This helps immensely.

Your content is excellent. Thank you. Why do the bongos have to face away when you play them?
Thank you!
Why should the bongos face away when you play them?
In order to line up the heads with the hands and create an ergonomic playing angle.
Great job thank you for this tutorial 👍
you can stand up on the bongos😂😂 that killed me bruh idk why😂 i’m lk blitzed so that might be helpin😂😂😂🤟🏾
Nice sir

Hi. Kalani, you said you're left handed. Why is that you play right hand leading in this tutorial?
What type of drumheads do I need to make them sound like yours? Mine came with the default one and they dont sound right 😭
I've got a question, where on the bongo do u tune it?
i tried my best to not laugh but this was hilarious😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

For the edge tone: I keep hitting the bearing edge. I’m not supposed to do that right?

I need help tuning my bongos. They are new and I can't find anyone to tune them for me during this time. Do you have a tuning tutorial for this. 😪
