This is probably the most personal lesson I've shown to date, but it's one that I learned as a kid that really helped jump start my percussion playing.

"This is like way beginner stuff." ~ I'm a beginner and I really appreciate it! Very clear and understandable. I feel like I have a chance. Thanks!
I sent you stars because this was well filmed. you didn’t talk for 20 minutes before you started drumming you gave a top view so you could see what’s going on. very very good video. I gave my three year-old grandson a Djembe last night and an adult tambourine and he was drumming and singing into the night, I had no idea. It was so adorable. I’m gonna use this to learn what to teach him, very grateful!
@@kimhawxhurst2707 thank you!
I've been playing for about 3 weeks and I am so grateful for this presentation. I love making the structure my own!
Love the way he teaches. I’m a man in my 70’s who loves Latin percussion. This will really help with my bongo learning lessons.
This is a great beginner bongo lesson ,thank you so much for sharing this.
Outstanding! Thanks. One of the best beginner lessons you'll find.
You're super inspiring. I like your teaching style. Thanks!
Loved this. Just just starting and this will be my practice.
Eric, your an awesome instructor! Thanks for the lesson. Will keep looking for more!
Very nice video. Very well explained. Thank you!
Sorry for your loss.
Thanks!
Very well done!! I'm just starting on bongo and your explanations and playing are super helpful.
Thank you so much and glad they help!
Eric Great instructional videos been playing about 3 weeks and these help out so much Thank you very much for your help
Simply awesome..you put it and hammered it so simply ...loved it ...
I really like your energy, and the info is made very clear and understandable. I definitely had to subscribe
Thank you. Great teaching.
This is amazing! Loved the pattern.
Great video! It’s nice to have an instructional that keeps the basics interesting. I’m just starting out and have always subscribed to the “Go slow to go fast” mantra. This video does just that. Keeps the “Learning the basics” fun. Saludos!!
Is a good way to learn a solid base for bachata and funk patterns. 👍🏽
really excellent teaching bro! keep up the good work!!
Amazing sound and amazing bongos... Moperc is a spectacular brand.
Damn! that bongo sounds smooth! thanks for sharing!
Man you got me excited, always wanted to learn how to play the bongo. Gonna buy me a set. Any start learning from you.
Nicely done.
You're so great. Thank you!
Great exercise. Thx for sharing. 😍
Awesome video man. My mom randomly bought me bongos today and I think this is going to be a fun hobby
Hey Eric, love how you demonstrate your tutorials using the "pic in pic" technique to show YOUR perspective of the drum along with the viewer perspective which makes it easier to learn the actual hand positions instead of just switching the hand positions in my head alone!!! Very effective and efficient!!! Thank you for all your videos and your humor that makes the instructions even more fun!!!
SO SO helpful. Tried lots of other videos and got lost... but this makes sence and reminds me of learning the drum kit.
Thank you brother for sharing
Thanks, I keep watching this simple but useful class. Im practicing with my bongo cajón but later I will buy a good set of bongos!!
Very nice, and thanks.
Thank you so much for us beginners!
Nice step by step pattern, I agree with you in developing a smooth nice and slow pattern, as well as taking your time. Like the saying goes: “ slow is smooth, and smooth is fast “, afterwards you can begin adding what I call the, “ plug-ins “ or what you call the, “ ghost beats “. Love what you do bro, keep it going, and peace to you ! Lol 😀👊🏼🙏🏼
Thank you Eric
Sorry for your loss my brother. God rest is soul. Your brother in Christ… CONGA JACK.
Love it!
Sounds really cool :) thank you:)
Thank you just got mine little two set today and this is definitely doable bc you teach well! I would love to play some Santana! Hoping you have more tuts on the bongos! I’m following you 😊❤️ oh and my condolences to you. It’s hard to lose someone we love💐
Sweeeeet! Great teaching!
Yes I love it!
Excelente. Un fuerte abrazo desde Maturin Monagas Vzla!!!
It actually had a little cumbia feel too along with martillo. That was too cool!
Very helpful..Thank You
I am just now trying to play the bongos and ran across this video last night. This is perfect to get me going and exactly what I was looking for. Did you do a part 2, 3, 4, etc?
I cannot catch the left hand note after the one for nothing but this is so cool I’ll keep trying!! Thanks for this one and sorry for your loss.
Love your videos! I kinda miss that comfy couch haha
I am inspired by your teaching. I want to create music on my own.❤
This will be the most important bongo lesson I learnt
Very good! Want to try it. Started few days ago with Bongos! Greetings from Germany!
Id love a video on self-care, ergonomics, and how to position/mount the bongos/yourself.
My sincere sympathny.
I still teach percussion 50 years later.
Wish this video was out when I was trying to learn the Martillo , would've made it a lot easier to understand.
I actually clicked like without even watching it through cause I knew it was going to be a good video 🤣
This is like the born of the martillo....😊👏👏👏
I need to learn to play this instrument. Please, make a list of videos.
Saludos desde Colombia profe👍👍👍👍👍
I am your fan
Hey bro. I really like your teachings. Do you think you could do Samba pa ti by Santana on Bongo. I got the first rythem down, but I've been struggling with the second. I could really use some help.
I could have sworn that was you at the puna sea view drum circle Hawaii .
What speed aka beats per minute on the metronome is the goal (just counting the pulse not the "+".? Thank you for sharing the video.
This is great teaching passed on by your bro 🙏🏼💙 Just got my 1st set of Bongos and you have become my teacher 🙌🏼
Love your videos! I'm beginning and hahave always 'driummed' on stuff......i know its diferent when you're actually playing a song. How do you know which rhythm to play? Is it more just winging it and playing a rhythym that works? Or does every type of music have to have a certain beat you play?
What height should the bongo be at on a stand? Is the a certain posture or position for long-term playing? Any stand recommendations?
I’m still working on pots and pans 😅
👏👏👏👏
Thought about buying bongos to raise hell at parties, and I think I will follow this idea lol
❤️
You are COOL!
This type of pattern is very accessible to a casual listener, and to flavour pop/rock genres.
Reminds me of some of the Exotica records from the mid 50s early 60s, and some of the dance instruction records at the time too.
Ese mini shekere es hermoso quise entrar a la página pero está caído el link 😪😭
epic. how long to do your hair bra? it's swift! much love, great vid.
🤣🤣🤣 thanks bro!
cool..
I have a question for you. Where do you buy your congas?
moperc.com/en-us/collections/drums-ready-to-ship
I got IT 😂😂😂👐
Today is my first day of lessons. You taught me the most valuable thing in the opening about the dominant hand. It NEVER stops. It's the Bass line! Thanks for this video. I'm already diggin' my Bongos y'all 😊
~ 🕯
Often the simple patterns are most effective.
Great video! Thank you. Dominant vs non-dominant is the magic info, I'm thinking.
Th most important lesson is -- DAY -O! Daylight come and me want go home.
you got to fake it to make it
You talk too much!!!
Way too much talking and not enough playing. Edit. Edit. Edit.
Thanks!
Thank you!!!
