excellent explanation of shiek i was searching 🔎 this type of lecture from a long time. i m. ahle hadees salafi from India. and i thought arab ulmas are muqalid of imam ahmad ibn hambal but this is the clear cut of my thoughts and believes. this lecture opened my mind and eyes jazakallah khair shiek 😊😊
Alhamdulillah, most sheikhs in saudi arabia are ahlul hadeeth. This sheikh in the video (Sheikh Sulaiman Ar-Ruhayli) is a teacher at the Masjid of Allah's Messenger (sallallahu 'alaihi wa sallam) and i think he still is a professor at the Islamic University of Madinah.

Abdul Rahman Everyone should take notes. I hope you do not reject the truth just because it's from a madhab? Because if you heard the entire video of the Shaikh - may Allah preserve him - then you should know that he warned those who reject the truth just because they hate the madhab that dealth about it.

My question is, if it's permissible for a layman to ascribe to a madhab but its not obligatory upon him, and its also permissible for him to not ascribe to a madhab, then what will he be ascribing to, or following of he chooses to not ascribe to a madhab or follow a madhab? As according to the shaykh it's permissible for him not to take from a madhab or ascribe to it.
Understanding of Qur'an and Sunnah through the way of Salaf us Saaleheen. The Scholars who ascribe to Salafiyyah are not of any Madhab. So what it means in general is that he/she may follow ruling of a Scholar on the way of Salaf. And in case the scholar makes a wrong Ijtihaad, and the person finds the clear evidence for it, then he doesn't subscribe to his opinion, rather follow the evidence. This is same for the one who follows a Madhab. I hope it's clear. JazakAllah Khair
The shaykh did not say it's permissable not to take from a madhhab. He said it's permissable not to ascribe to a madhhab. There is a difference. But the focus is to follow reputable scholars with evidence from Quran and Sunnah. And if one does so he will undoubtedly take something from every madhhab. And Allah knows best
Assalamu alaikum Brother Al Ameen Ibn e Abdul Latif, He should follow the Scholars who Act upon the Qur'an and Sunnah Upon the Understanding of Salaf(Meaning Salafi Scholars)

This is a real scholar. Allahuma Barik.
Exactly, it is easy to distinguish the real scholars from the fake ones. By the way they speak and conduct themselves.
Masha Allah. One of the best explanations of this matter.

Didn't Shaykh Fawzaan say it is obligatory upon the laymen to follow a madhab?
بارك الله فيكم

But, what about the person who doesn't know to derive fiqh from evidence?
Watch the video again brother.
It's not possible for a Muslim to derive fiqh from anything outside of the Quran and Sunnah
Assalamu alaikum Brother Al Ameen Ibn e Abdul Latif,
He should follow the Scholars who Act upon the Qur'an and Sunnah Upon the Understanding of Salaf(Meaning Salafi Scholars)
Then we ask those who do know. We go with the evidences, not restricting ourselves to a single or few individuals.
