I love how he hockets the melody at 3:05 to make it easier for the bassoon and piano. I didn't even notice it wasn't the bassoon playing the entire thing until I looked at the score. So clever
What a refreshing composition from a solid old-school composer... unifying motivic construction with simple yet catchy material, deft fugal passages, idiomatic writing... but very listenable. Top notch.
Alot of the lesser known solo works for bassoon I'll listen to and say "I definitely like it, but I suppose I see why it didn't really catch on as standard solo repertoire." I have no such feeling about this piece. It's fabulous. I will say, I suppose it might be tough to find a pianist for this one.

What a wonderful work for pianist and bassoonist. Go György! 🇷🇴

The piano part in this sounds pretty comparable in difficulty to the Pierne solo de concert. But I'm a bassoonist, not a pianist so what do I know :)
Great👍👏, Orban!!!
