I can't read all your suggestions because there are so many, but I have some ideas for you. Larger velvetty pieces can be used to make Satchel's (Carpet Bags like Mary Poppins), Car trash Recepticles, patchwork a bunch to make 20x20 square floor cushions, Stadium Seat Cushions or long bench cushions (which are so expensive), or shoe bags, safety belts you wear under clothes for money cards/passport. Combine with clear vinyl to make venue bags (where you have to have clear bags to bring things into a large stadium), clear project bags with fabric bias or piping. Smaller pieces can be used to make simple birds, owls or fish. I have seen super cute fish with small brass rings sewn into the mouth and then used to attach lengths of twill tape to things like small scissors or perhaps zip pulls--fill with cat nip or scented lavender. You can maybe make sand bags for tossing type games or hand warmers, first aid kits (book style), needle keepers, little lamp shades for night lights, long simple quilted obi style belts are very flattering, and friendship bracelets. Play with frayed edges and make simple patchwork items. Last idea is anti-theft items like RFID lined wallets or purses with clip shut zips and wire (cable) inside the straps.
Lucky you! It must have been like Christmas morning unpacking those boxes! And like you, I also like to caress nice fabrics. 😉 Can’t wait to see what you make from those pieces.🇨🇦
Great fabric haul. Glad your surgery went well. Some ideas: coasters, key ring coin purse, cord minder, ear bud holder, triangular pouch, dog leash, lanyard, golf club cover, and hair bows. Perhaps some Christmas things with some of the velvet or gold fabric, such as mini stockings, napkin rings, cutlery holder, and placemats. Also perhaps you could sew some together in a patchwork style for home decor items like pillows, table runners, remote minder, or fabric baskets. Maybe some of these ideas will work for you and you can use the time that you can’t sew to make up patterns or see if you can find online.
An idea that I had watching your tour of the fabrics was doll accessories, doll quilts or bedding. I have grandchildren. And they love the crib size quilts that I keep in my living room that are made with drapery and light upholstery fabric. I think the weight comforts them and they feel the love. I also have made "busy / sensory" mats or lap quilts. Those are great for dementia to spark memories. One of my granddaughters is blind so I sew silk flowers, sculpted trim, buttons and textured upholstery fabrics just for some interest. I love watching your channel especially your batch sewing tips. Watching from Massachusetts in the US.
Oh such lovely colours and textures. I was thinking, not sure what they're called but 'fiddle blankets' for autism and dementia. A sort of lap blanket with pockets, buttons, zips etc to fiddle with. Soft baby/toddler stacking cubes. Toy bins. Also storage baskets, book covers, ipad and tablet covers. Floor cushions. Key fobs, mobile phone covers. Dog leads and dog coats. I'm sure your watchers will come up with wonderful ideas! Can't wait to see your handy work. Love watching you at work. Get well soon!
Artist pencils, pens or paint brushes wrap / roll ups. I've also seen many print artists use fabric roll ups for their lino or woodblock carving tools. Wonderful haul of material. Fast healing wishes :)
Glad to see you doing well after surgery. Do what the surgeon says! I’m drooling at all that fabric. A few bags of all sorts in there! Maybe even the odd table runner. 😊
Best wishes for a speedy recovery! The arrangement of the small swatches looked like a purse insert credit card/I.D. card holder - very cute with your label sewn on.
Lovely score, re ideas, tampon pouches, tiny Xmas stocking to hang in the tree, great for gift cards, tiny draw string bags, journal covers, clutch purses, coin purses, ahhh I could go on forever lol yummy fabric, doll clothes from the left over tiny scraps,I just sew all little bits together on a lightweight interfacing until I have a decent size piece then cut as normal, zero waste here lolol have fun.
Glad your surgery was successful. I love the samples and have benefitted from companies getting rid of the books as well. I mentioned golf tee bags in a previous video and some of these fabrics would be perfect. I use one piece of fabric - usually vinyl - zipper closure with a twill tag that I have added a key ring and carabiner to clip on the golf bag. thanks again for your videos. I get a lot out of them.
Some hair bows on barrettes would be nice since they would keep their shape, as an adult with long hair, I still love wearing bows especially in neutral patterns. Dog/cat bowties and bandanas that can slide onto their collars would also be fun! My parents recently asked me to make them some bedside organizers that tie onto their bedframes, they use it for their remote, phone, glasses, etc. I used upholstery fabric for this so I could skip the stabilizer then made a few jar openers with the scraps 😁 Hope you feel better soon, happy to see your cute puppy taking care of you 💕
I have similar fabrics that a local decorator store gave me. Have made a few bags but I spend so much time quilting, I haven’t done much with bag making.
Trivets, drying mats, mug rugs, tray mats, table runners, patchwork table cloths. Picnic blanket/quilt. Hope your surgery went well and you are fully healed soon x
What about arm tidies that go over the arm of your sofa with pockets for remotes and papers. Also place mats for dinner table and also I made a behind the door storage with pockets and sewed three different rows of pockets large at bottom etc, each row in different fabric to use up fabric can use for shoes hairdryer or toys. Also cushion covers and Car tidy, goes behind drivers seat, has pockets for kids to put things in,or maps tissues for adults. The fabric was beautiful hope your hands heal soon, best wishes
Praying for your hands to heal quickly. I enjoy watching your tutorials. You have such a sweet personality. An idea for the free fabric is small square and rectangle sanitary pad holders for girls and women. A bag that fits on a child’s scooter handles to carry their toys in would be cute. A cross body cell phone holder or a patchwork wristlet would be great for the fabric swatches. I can’t wait to see what you make with these beautiful fabrics.
Congrats on your surgery and prayers for a speedy recovery! The fabric makes me think sewing them together with a flat fell seam. You would have larger pieces and could make larger projects. Either your popular shopping bags, a dog bed for Coco and other dog lovers or the sewing machine cover that so many have suggested. Enjoy all your eye candy!
Oh, so many beautiful fabrics and colours, Christine :-) How lucky were you to get that haul?!! I have learned from my son who is a boardgame fanatic, people who play a lot of boardgames are always on the lookout for good quality drawstring bags to store various tokens, dice etc.
The heaver fabric you could zig zag them together and back in a shelf liner for a rug so they don't slip. A sewing machine mat would be nice. A folded or zipped pouch to hold diaper wipes. use an old picture frame and make a jewelry board with the swatches behind. I'm making some now. you could package up pieces of coordinating fabric and sell for junk journals or crazy quilts. you wouldn't have to use a whole piece but smaller ones and a book cover.
Beautiful fabrics! I'm a volunteer with an animal rescue and I use my upholstery frabic for kicksticks for the cats because it holds up so well. Happy sewing 😊
You are in fabric lover's heaven! Your joy is so obvious. 🥰 Ideas....... Sewing machine covers, Sets of coasters, Sock covers for workers. Some girlie and kiddy ones too. Join up the softer samples to make doona covers. Travel bags to easily identify the undies, shoes, tops, etc. In the main suitcase. Hoping your hands heal very nicely and you're back in the thick of things again. 🌹. Nth Qld.
Well, that was fun to watch!! I can only imagine how fun it must have been to actually receive it all! Very exciting! Have fun getting inspired as you heal. 👋😊
I've an idea that is outside what you normally make. Little booklets. I know that sounds bonkers, but once you get the hang of it, making little books and covering them with fabric is more than doable. Little fabric covered handmade notebooks sell really well. On RUclips there are loads of instructors - some better than others. The basic structure of a little book is more or less the same, but the creative opportunities are endless. Magnetic fasteners, charms, adding a thingy (technical term) so you can hang the little book from your bag etc, ribbon or twine fasteners, brass hardware. The only ones I do have plain paper inside (easy to sew together), but it is possible to print, say, poems from top Australian poets (copywrite allowing, of course) which would go down well as holiday gifts. If you get into this, I recommend investing in a professional cutting device and you would need a lot of experimenting with glues and tapes. To add fabric, you must make (or buy) book cloth. This took me a couple of shots to find what worked best for me, but RUclips has all the intel. I know this might not be your thing, but I thought I would throw something out there that was a bit different. Once you can make little fabric or fabric covered notebooks, it is easy to leapfrog into other items using the skills learned. I hope you heal up soon.
Thanks Sister Kerry. I've had this on my mind for some time now, but haven't had the time to create the video yet, and the ideas everyone keeps giving me are endless. I haven't forgotten an "everything emergency bag" for you either. One day it will happen 😀
OMGOSH, what an incredible haul! Yay for you. IDEAS: Placemats and Table Runners; from velvet and plush fabric, Bears. Bears can be little Stuffies or even keychain fobs or felties - if you have an embroidery machine, you can knock out 4-6 at a time in large hoop. I make Meal Mats for dog/cat dishes to sit on - really helps keep floor clean. Have you thought of strip piecing some bits and making Steering Wheel Covers? Add elastic to edge of circular shape and they slip on and off so easy. Really helps protect one’s expensive steering wheel! Can’t wait to see what you come up with. Best wishes for speedy recovery!! ❤️🙏🏻❤️ EDIT: Should’ve mentioned, SteeringWheel Covers remove before driving. 🤪
Wow, amazing! Ask and ye shall receive! I am so excited for you! My first thought was glasses cases, but I’m going to keep thinking. I love your passion and your excitement for all the fabric. What a load! I’m glad your surgery went well. I hope you recover extra fast. Take care
How fortunate!! I'm envious of the rainbow of colors. I'm terrible about buying fabrics to resell than just keeping and admiring them 🤣 Your pup would prefer some skritches and scratches though 😉
Hi there Christine what nice haul of fabric lots of good ideas from others how about a tablet or phone cord tidy roll for travel speedy recovery Christine take care
Great blessing! 🤗 I saw a tutorial for a pin cushion made up of different colored triangles (6 to make up a circle) how about larger to make into a footstool...? Just a thought. With or without legs. Haven't thought it all through. So happy your surgery went well, prayers for a speedy no issue recovery. Have a great blessed day.
I would love to see you make different styles of organizer bags for the car. Preferably with some kind of hanger or straps. Smaller bags for the front for pen, paper, tissue, etc., And larger ones for the kids in the back seat. Also, easy to access bags to put on a wheelchair or adult walker. Also, those organizer pockets you make to hang down by your mattress (I don't know what they're called, but they have a strip of extra fabric to go between the mattress and box springs to hold it in place). Also, a pattern for a closet safe would be great (a bag that has a clothes hanger inside so you can hang it in your closet and hide valuables). Also, a bag by my husband's easy chair for his remotes. I'm new to your channel so you may have already done these videos!
WOW, loads of great ideas Cynthia. There are a couple of these that are on my to do list, as well as another idea that I don't think has been done yet😀
Talking of wraps or roll ups, I have made a rollup for a set of cutlery that only gets used high days and holidays. It takes up less room than in a cutlery drawer. I also made one for necklaces, using a button to loop the necklace over and the bottom of the necklace hanging in its own individual pocket. A smaller one is ideal for shorter chains.
I enjoy your videos so…thank you. An idea for you is to cover binders for photo use. We used to make those in the seventies. They make excellent gifts & requires no sewing
My grand mother use to get fabric like that and make blankets she even made me a blanket out of blue jeans. Baby blankets was her favorite to make and small patch work pillows to give a room a bit of pop.
Oh my goodness Christine, I had a dream last night about receiving a huge box on a pallet and unpacking bags and bags of fabric swatches. How weird? You have a lot of work to do. I can't wait to see what you come up with! You are doing well with your hands already take care and don't try to do to much.
What a haul! So sad all you can do it fondle it for now. Take the time to let yourself recover fully before trying to take those "fabric books" apart. You and Chris take care of each other. Thank you
How about glass cases or Alice bands and even pregnancy patchwork pillows hope that it helps you with the swatches Good job and a great idea for getting fabric for free, I will be trying it out myself x I am in the UK X
Fanny pack. Dog treat pouches. Foldable shopping bag pocket (maybe to hang in your car or on a hook). Coasters. Couch organizer (pockets to hang over the armrest. Jewelry draw string bag. Case for glasses. A dice tray/pouch.pouch to Hang around neck on a kid so they can have some money on them or contact info. Shoe cover to walk indoors without removing shoes (to not make the floor dirty). Bows/sailor bow to have on a dog collar or use as a hair clip or a bag accessory. Chord organizer (maybe with elastic so it can hold the chords together). Book marks (different kinds, shapes, with stings. Or maybe a corner bookmark). I can’t think of more right now 😁
Hi Christine. Glad your surgery went well, I had it done a few years back but it was worth it for relief. Drove me crazy not being able to sew. Great fabric haul. I was given a bunch of decorator fabrics yesterday as well and I like to do mug rugs with some of them. I actually have had requests for more for some of the people I have given one to already (their partners want one, lol). I pair them with a nice mug and some herb teas and they make a great gift for that little something for someone. You can patch them together or just one piece. Sometime I do a matching book mark, they go great in my charity gift bags. I am also going to do some of your doggie pouchs, card holders (work great for putting in the herb tea bags to carry with you) and of course bags and tricket bowls. Take care .
Thank you for showing us this, Christine. I was recently gifted a bunch of samples similar to these and wasn’t sure what to start making. You have wonderful ideas. So sorry that you had to have surgery. I will pray for a speedy recovery for you. I hope you get some rest and heal quickly. I love that you give us good ideas for our sewing businesses as well. I recently started one and I love your ideas and the way you explain things! If you want to make videos while you are not sewing for a bit, maybe you could suggest ideas for helping with our businesses. I would like to order labels for some of my items and hardware for bags etc but I really don’t know what I should order- thank you. I’m reading over the comments of others with suggestions from others about what to make and there are so many amazing ideas! Do you have a Facebook group for us to join and share ideas as well?
There are so many great suggestions in this thread Baker Wannabe, that I'm sure you'll find lots of things to do with your samples. It's so much fun going through them all.... I've been pondering a video as you've suggested for some time now., and will try to do that very soon. Here's the link to the Facebook group facebook.com/groups/1742310746004729 Christine's Home Affairs 😀
Hi Christine hope you healing well💐 What a magnificent fabric haul 😍 I would make some patchwork totes with boxed bottoms, knit/crochet needle rolls or wraps and notions pouches 🙋🏻♀️ take care🌹
I am just sewing some small upholstery fabric swatches together to make a zipped and lined patchwork overnight/weekend bag. I will probably line it with cotton fabric or something, but the outside patchwork is looking great so far.
You could make the Coasters made using 4 1/2-5 in squares that are folded in half either on the straight or diagonal and are placed overlapping each other (crisscross coasters). These type of coasters are great for putting base of wine glass into so they don’t blow away when entertaining outdoors. Could also make some pyramid or cube style doorstoppers & draught (snakes) stoppers. I love your videos you are a wonderful inspiration. If ever I get down that way will definitely visit your shop. Hope you are recovering well. Take care.😀
Another idea for those swatches is cases for glasses & sunglasses. The magnetic strips that come out of the old fridge seals also make good closures for make up purses pencil cases etc. Same pattern as the ones that have strips of metal measuring tape for closures with fabric tabs to pull open. You just use the magnetic strips instead of the metal tape.🙂
So happy for you getting that beautiful haul of fabric! I was thinking of origami bags. They look great when they're made with squares of 3 different coordinating fabric. Wishing you a speedy recovery.
Hi Christine! I was so excited to see this video pop up. Like you I have also come into a bunch of upholstery fabric samples and I can never say no when more are offered. Some of the things I have done are crossbody bags, in the hoop notebook covers (designs by juju), and I was also lucky enough to get some leather pieces and did some in the hoop passport covers. I’m always looking for ways to use these gems and will be looking forward to see what others do with them! Hope you are feeling better soon and back at the sewing machine! Have a great day 🤗
Your sweet pooch wanted to comfort you; I don’t think she liked the dressings on your hands. My dogs have done the same with me when I’ve had surgery - and I’ve had many more than most people. Dogs bring such comfort. Now, to that magnificent haul. Yes, it was a year ago, but geez Louise, how lucky! There are some very upscale, elegant samples there. Create something that a woman would want to have displayed in her bedroom. Holiday/elegant table runners. Gift bags and pouches. Upscale throw for the back of the sofa (for when guests come over and you want to hide a stain😅). Someone said wine bottle bag. A valance for a smaller window. A decorative skirt for the mantle, especially holiday themed. Christmas stockings; use smaller elegant pieces as the stocking cuff. Coasters for wine glasses, mug rugs, trivets.
Yes, Coco didn't like my hands bandaged at all. These fabrics were a great score, and I'm still going through them. Probably will for another ten years or so
I love haul videos! I’m such a fabric junkie🤣. I’m green with envy over here. Small projects … hmmm … cord wraps, cases for ear buds and charger cords, catnip mice, fabric cases with snap closures for a deck of cards, drawstring bags from the sheer fabrics for anything from produce to game pieces I’ll add more if I think of anything else Oh .., and pick out some of your favorites and make yourself a Bonzai bag.
I scrolled for a while to see if anyone already suggested it..not having seen it, I am suggesting pencil pouches. Especially if you double down on reusing materials by also reusing heavy gauge plastic bags, like the type that rice or other food might be sold in. I have a shoe box full of the plastic, but haven't gotten started. On my project list for repurposed materials is also ID card/Vaccine Card holder, cell phone pouch (which would also be splash proof), and the pencil pouch.
You may already have these in your videos, I havent seen them all yet… Eye glass cases, makeup brush rolls/crochet hook storage rolls can cozies, tissue box covers for square and rectangle boxes, fabric coasters or mug rugs. Hope your hands feel better and you get to enjoy using those fabrics very soon! 😊
Hey sweetie, please take care of your hands.... let them heal with time and be kind to yourself XO I wish I lived close to a big city so that *I* could get some of that free fabric, alas I live in the outback LOL I cannot think of anything new for you to make... plenty of others have and will though. Just get well!
Thank you. You could try emailing some furniture stores to see if they have swatches they could hold for you until your next trip to the city. We're in a tiny town too, and I was lucky enough to strike gold the day before heading to the city 😀
Right now the big thing is patchwork jackets, and patchwork coats. A nice Summer weight (no batting) full coverage patchwork bed spread would be nice. You might want to make some to sell.
Oh my!! Lovely fabrics. I make wine bags out of nice upholstery fabric. They stand up nicely and once the wine is gone, a small vase can fit inside for flowers. They can be used also for cider or bubble bath for those who don't drink. I would like to know what kind of company you reached out to for this marvelous haul? Thanks for sharing.
I did a video a little while back on how to source many of these fabrics, but you can also look at the back of the swatch samples and see if the company is close to you, and give them a call😀
Hi Christine, from South Africa 🇿🇦 .. I luv watching your videos, u have awesome ideas.. thanks for sharing 🧵🪡.. .. I have an idea.. why not use the textured small fabrics for making fidget mats used by people with Alzheimer’s & dementia & children with ADHD & autism…. Hope that helps .. I wish u a speedy recovery Sadia 💐
Stitch samples together to make different sizes of pillows with a zipper closing on one edge or the back can have an envelope closing. Then the buyer can purchase a pillow form for the interior. Simple and quick to stitch up. Bed pillows and pillow shams in standard, queen and king sizes. Quilt tops in baby crib size, twin, double, queen and king sizes. The purchaser buys their own batting and backing to make their own quilt.
might be able to make some chair covers for the arms of the chairs , i have make some so the dog does not scratch the leather mine have a been good and easy , Placemats could also be good ??Xmas style ones might be good where you add you cutlery , in a pocket. side note Please Christine I would love a pattern for a tea towel / bar towel topper (I currently make one with a dress top but need a male version maybe football jersey ?? I know you might have a great easy way to draft one TFS
Those are fabulous swatches!! I wanted to actually ask, if I may, what breed is your dog? Lol I’m a huge dog lover and your dog “talking” to you immediately caught my attention and instantly reminded me of my boxer!!
Hello Christine, what do you do with pieces of fabric that have paper glued to the whole back? I have some and I cannot get the paper off. Even soaking in soapy water did not do the trick... :-( Thank you for your videos and for sharing your knowledge! Take care of your hands, get well soon
I haven't had any with full paper on the back Ann, but why not just use them as lined toiletry or cosmetic bags or even wallets and leave the paper in there. If they're not washed, they should be ok as is 😀
@@anngee7977 I've been doing it a lot recently, but do change my needles regularly. General rule of thumb is to change needle every 6 to 8 hours of sewing, though it may be double for me by the time I remember. I do still try to remove what paper I can though. I developed a way that gets most of it off. Will do a video as I wouldn't know how to explain in text 😄

WOW, that sure is a lot of great ideas Caroline. That's a lifetime of sewing right there😁
Lucky you! It must have been like Christmas morning unpacking those boxes! And like you, I also like to caress nice fabrics. 😉
Can’t wait to see what you make from those pieces.🇨🇦
It sure was just like Christmas Barbara. I'm still ploughing my way through it all 🙂
Great fabric haul.
These are great ideas Andrea. Thank you. Sensory mats are something I've had in mind for quite some time. 😀
Book / Journal covers - What a beautiful range of patterns and colors!
I'll definitely be doing some of those Mary. Thank you 😀
Oh such lovely colours and textures. I was thinking, not sure what they're called but 'fiddle blankets' for autism and dementia. A sort of lap blanket with pockets, buttons, zips etc to fiddle with. WOW, so many great ideas Jane. Thank you 😀
Artist pencils, pens or paint brushes wrap / roll ups. I've also seen many print artists use fabric roll ups for their lino or woodblock carving tools. Wonderful haul of material. Fast healing wishes :)
Great idea Kylie. I actually have fabric cut out for a similar project 😀
Glad to see you doing well after surgery. Do what the surgeon says! I’m drooling at all that fabric. A few bags of all sorts in there! Maybe even the odd table runner. 😊
Absolutely Narelle. I've already made several bags with them 😀
Journal covers?
The heavy fabric would make great dog coats, dog beds, crate liners and crate covers. Patchwork would be fun
Great ideas Bo. Thank you 😀
Lots of beautiful fabrics, you will be busy for sure! Glad your surgery went well, prayers for a full & speedy recovery 🙏 ❤️ 🪡🧵
Thanks Adam. I can't wait to get into these fabrics 😀
Best wishes for a speedy recovery! The arrangement of the small swatches looked like a purse insert credit card/I.D. card holder - very cute with your label sewn on.
Great idea EMC Thank you 😀
God bless..glad to see that your surgery went well...and yes love all that fabric...be blessed
Thanks Leticia. I'm recovering well 😀
Lovely score, re ideas, tampon pouches, tiny Xmas stocking to hang in the tree, great for gift cards, tiny draw string bags, journal covers, clutch purses, coin purses, ahhh I could go on forever lol yummy fabric, doll clothes from the left over tiny scraps,I just sew all little bits together on a lightweight interfacing until I have a decent size piece then cut as normal, zero waste here lolol have fun.
Lots of great ideas Tracey. Thank you 😀
Wow! Fantastic fabrics! What others have mentioned are great ideas. You're a trooper, having both hands done at once!
haha, thank you. I'm more a sucker for punishment 😀😀
Glad your surgery was successful. I love the samples and have benefitted from companies getting rid of the books as well. I mentioned golf tee bags in a previous video and some of these fabrics would be perfect. That's a great idea Sue. I did add the golf Tee bags to my list, but it's quite a long list 😀
Good luck for the surgery. Hope the recovery is fast and you're back sewing before you know it
Thank you Leslie 😀
Some hair bows on barrettes would be nice since they would keep their shape, as an adult with long hair, I still love wearing bows especially in neutral patterns. Dog/cat bowties and bandanas that can slide onto their collars would also be fun!
My parents recently asked me to make them some bedside organizers that tie onto their bedframes, they use it for their remote, phone, glasses, etc. I used upholstery fabric for this so I could skip the stabilizer then made a few jar openers with the scraps 😁
Hope you feel better soon, happy to see your cute puppy taking care of you 💕
Bedside organizer, wonderful idea! 🤩
Lots of great ideas Lorena. I've added them to the listt 😀
I have similar fabrics that a local decorator store gave me. Have made a few bags but I spend so much time quilting, I haven’t done much with bag making.
I used to do a lot of quilting Ann. Somehow, I've morphed into rescuing and recycling mostly furnishing fabric 😀
How fun! Love your pup! I had carpal tunnel surgery a year ago & have done really well? Don’t overwork your hands before you heal! Take care.
Thank you. It's so hard to do nothing, I just had to see if I could sew today, but took it easy 😃
Trivets, drying mats, mug rugs, tray mats, table runners, patchwork table cloths. Picnic blanket/quilt. Hope your surgery went well and you are fully healed soon x
Lots of great ideas Sue. Thank you 😀
I just got several fabric samples from my husband work. So excited to see what I can make with it.
How exciting Penny. I just love getting samples 😀
Wow, what a haul, glad your surgery went well. Coin purse key rings are popular now.
They sure are DB. Can never have enough of those 😀
What about arm tidies that go over the arm of your sofa with pockets for remotes and papers.
Lots of great ideas Eve. Thank you 😀
Praying for your hands to heal quickly.
Thanks Rita. They're great ideas. I've added them to the list 😀
Thanks Anne. Some great ideas that I've added to the list 😃
Oh, so many beautiful fabrics and colours, Christine :-) How lucky were you to get that haul?!! I have learned from my son who is a boardgame fanatic, people who play a lot of boardgames are always on the lookout for good quality drawstring bags to store various tokens, dice etc.
That's a great idea. I'm actually going to make a boardgame woth fabric soon 😀
You are my hero! Videos before surgery and then the next day. Strong, beautiful lady. You are continually inspiring me 🤩
Haha, thank you Brenda. Should I admit that I made 4 bags today? Though I did have to get Chris to turn them through for me 😀
The heaver fabric you could zig zag them together and back in a shelf liner for a rug so they don't slip. A sewing machine mat would be nice. A folded or zipped pouch to hold diaper wipes. use an old picture frame and make a jewelry board with the swatches behind. I'm making some now. you could package up pieces of coordinating fabric and sell for junk journals or crazy quilts. you wouldn't have to use a whole piece but smaller ones and a book cover.
lots of great ideas Melanie. Thank you😀
Wow! Great colors and i admire your energy in doing this. Two hand operations didnt slow you down
haha, I don't let much slow me down Ellen. Too stubborn for my own good.😀
Beautiful fabrics! I'm a volunteer with an animal rescue and I use my upholstery frabic for kicksticks for the cats because it holds up so well.
Happy sewing 😊
That's a great idea Tamara 😀
@@ChristinesHomeAffairs thank you
You are in fabric lover's heaven! Your joy is so obvious. 🥰
Ideas.......
Sewing machine covers,
Sets of coasters,
Sock covers for workers. Some girlie and kiddy ones too.
Join up the softer samples to make doona covers.
Travel bags to easily identify the undies, shoes, tops, etc. In the main suitcase.
Hoping your hands heal very nicely and you're back in the thick of things again. 🌹. Nth Qld.
Thanks Dellka. Some great ideas. I've added them to the list 😀
Wishing you a speedy recovery
Thank you Penny 😀
Well, that was fun to watch!! I can only imagine how fun it must have been to actually receive it all! Very exciting! Have fun getting inspired as you heal.
👋😊
I had so much fun unpacking thse Christine. Now to find time to use it all 😄
the larger upholstery ones would make lovely Christmas stockings -- I've made some from upholstery remnants and they look so upscale!
They certainly would Lori 😀
@@ChristinesHomeAffairs Bless you 🌻
OMGOSH, what an incredible haul! ❤️🙏🏻❤️
EDIT: Should’ve mentioned, SteeringWheel Covers remove before driving. 🤪
Great ideas Cyn. It's funny, I've made meal mats for Coco, but never considered making them for the shop 😀
Wow, amazing! Ask and ye shall receive! I am so excited for you! My first thought was glasses cases, but I’m going to keep thinking. I love your passion and your excitement for all the fabric. What a load! I’m glad your surgery went well. I hope you recover extra fast. Take care
Thanks Debbie. I keep going out to look at all that fabric. I hope I live long enough to use it all 😂
How fortunate!! I'm envious of the rainbow of colors. I'm terrible about buying fabrics to resell than just keeping and admiring them 🤣
Your pup would prefer some skritches and scratches though 😉
She sure would. Coco believes all the attention should be on her 🤣
Hi there Christine what nice haul of fabric lots of good ideas from others how about a tablet or phone cord tidy roll for travel speedy recovery Christine take care
Great ideas Paulene. Thank you 😀
Great blessing! 🤗
I saw a tutorial for a pin cushion made up of different colored triangles (6 to make up a circle) how about larger to make into a footstool...? Just a thought. With or without legs. Haven't thought it all through.
So happy your surgery went well, prayers for a speedy no issue recovery.
Have a great blessed day.
OOh, Yes Karen. You've given me something to think about 😀
I would love to see you make different styles of organizer bags for the car.
I've actually got some fabric cut out to do a roll up. Must get onto that very soon 😀
Score! Those fabrics are gorgeous 😍. You're certainly giving me some ideas to make some extra money.
That's great Teresa 😀
I enjoy your videos so…thank you. An idea for you is to cover binders for photo use. We used to make those in the seventies. They make excellent gifts & requires no sewing
We used to do that as kids too Carmen 😀
My grand mother use to get fabric like that and make blankets she even made me a blanket out of blue jeans. Baby blankets was her favorite to make and small patch work pillows to give a room a bit of pop.
What a lovely memory to have. Blankes are fun to make and give as gifts 😀
The prints you said were baby looking I can see small diaper bags. Sew some together to make a coat or vest. Beautiful fabrics.
Great idea Kim. Thank you 😀
Oh my goodness Christine, I had a dream last night about receiving a huge box on a pallet and unpacking bags and bags of fabric swatches. How weird?
You have a lot of work to do. I can't wait to see what you come up with! You are doing well with your hands already take care and don't try to do to much.
Haha. In the dream, did I come and sneak off with all that fabric? 😀
What a haul! So sad all you can do it fondle it for now. Take the time to let yourself recover fully before trying to take those "fabric books" apart. You and Chris take care of each other. Thank you
Haha, thanks Cynthia. I did manage to get into one of them today, but the headers are just way too secure 😀
My goodness there is some mouth watering material there. I can imagine how frustrated you must feel to not be able to get to the machine.
So true Margaret. I am really eager to get into all this fabric 😀
How about glass cases or Alice bands and even pregnancy patchwork pillows hope that it helps you with the swatches Good job and a great idea for getting fabric for free, I will be trying it out myself x I am in the UK X
Thanks Amanda. Hope you manage to find some fabric 😀
I can’t think of more right now 😁
WOW, You're going to keep me busy for the rest of the year with these ideas. I've added them to the list! Thank you 😀
The fabric you showed that may be produce bags, might make good pin cushions, or mug rugs.
Great ideas Brenda. Thank you 😀
Hi Christine. Take care .
Great ideas there Judi. I've been meaning to do tea bag pouches too 😀
These are beautiful! Coco is having fun with them as well. She reminds me of one of ours who is very chatty. Hoping you heal well and quickly.
Thanks Sally. Yes, Coco certainly has a lot to say at times 😄
How about some big patchwork cushion covers....although I'm sure I'm not the first one to think of that!
I do need to update mine Clare. It's a great idea 😀
Thanks Anna. I've added them to the list😀
i hope your recovery goes well - i can't wait to see what you make with these
Thanks Maj. I can't wait to start 😀
I am just sewing some small upholstery fabric swatches together to make a zipped and lined patchwork overnight/weekend bag. I will probably line it with cotton fabric or something, but the outside patchwork is looking great so far.
Thant's great Hillary. I usually do the same with cotton leftovers. This time, I'll be able to use some of the lighter swatches 😀
Take care.😀
Thanks Carolyn. I've seen those coasters around a bit lately. Think I might just give that a go 😀
Another idea for those swatches is cases for glasses & sunglasses.
Great idea Jane. Thank you 😀
That's an amazing haul. How about an ear pod pouch or a clothes iron cord holder. Speedy recovery
These are two items I was just thinking about in the past few days. Definitely need one for my iron 😀
Triangle shaped door stoppers, maybe filled with sand. Draught stoppers for the longer samples
Great ideas Noela. Thank you 😀
I had surgery on both hands for carpal tunnel and had INSTANT relief!! I pray you have great results, too! Man, carpal tunnel is NOT fun!
Not at all Rhonda. I've waited almost 30 years to do mine. I'm so happy they're finally done 😀
Wow! So much fun to go thru all of that I'm sure! Have fun and a speedy recovery to you! 💙
Thanks Kera. I keep going out and unpacking a bit at a time. Can't wait to sew it all up 😀
Love your dog! Great fabric haul😀
She's so adorable Rita 😍
i made window quilts to keep draughts out as i had a massive haul like yours
They'd have worked perfectly froggy🙂
I’m so jealous! ! The swatches are beautiful!
Haha, thanks Lorna 😀
Hi Christine! I was so excited to see this video pop up. Like you I have also come into a bunch of upholstery fabric samples and I can never say no when more are offered. Some of the things I have done are crossbody bags, in the hoop notebook covers (designs by juju), and I was also lucky enough to get some leather pieces and did some in the hoop passport covers. I’m always looking for ways to use these gems and will be looking forward to see what others do with them! Hope you are feeling better soon and back at the sewing machine! Have a great day 🤗
Thanks Maureen. Don't you just love working with upholstery fabric? I know I have enough to last my lifetime, but I just can't say no 😂
You might try patch work pillows and maybe table runners.
great ideas Wilma. Will definitely do both 😀
WOW! I wish I could find a place that would discard swatches, these are fabulous! Can't wait to see what you make with them.
Shyash, you could ask around at furniture stores, curtain stores, and anywhere that has a showroom to contact you when they discard their samples 😀
@@ChristinesHomeAffairs thank you, I will call around and hope I can find goodies!
Xmas tree ornaments
another great idea 😀
Christmas bunting with the red and green pieces? Christmas tree skirts? Christmas stockings?
Thanks Joy. I've added them to the list 😀
Probably will for another ten years or so
These fabrics would be great for doing applique embroidery!
They sure would Michelle. There are some great choices 😀
I love haul videos! I’m such a fabric junkie🤣. I’m green with envy over here.
Small projects … hmmm … cord wraps, cases for ear buds and charger cords, catnip mice, fabric cases with snap closures for a deck of cards, drawstring bags from the sheer fabrics for anything from produce to game pieces I’ll add more if I think of anything else
Oh .., and pick out some of your favorites and make yourself a Bonzai bag.
I've just had to Google the Bonsai bag. So cute Cynthia. Thank you😀
I scrolled for a while to see if anyone already suggested it..not having seen it, I am suggesting pencil pouches.
Great suggestions Steph. I actually have a pencil case in mind. Something a little different too 😀
Purses and tableplace mats...and draw string bags for the velvet
Thanks Amla. I have heaps of embroidery cotton that would make great cord for the velvet bags 😀
Thank you MK. They're great ideas 😀
Hey sweetie, please take care of your hands.... let them heal with time and be kind to yourself XO
I wish I lived close to a big city so that *I* could get some of that free fabric, alas I live in the outback LOL
I cannot think of anything new for you to make... plenty of others have and will though. Just get well!
Thank you. You could try emailing some furniture stores to see if they have swatches they could hold for you until your next trip to the city. We're in a tiny town too, and I was lucky enough to strike gold the day before heading to the city 😀
Oh my u r a lucky girl haha love to be there beautiful fabric❤
Right now the big thing is patchwork jackets, and patchwork coats. A nice Summer weight (no batting) full coverage patchwork bed spread would be nice. You might want to make some to sell.
Have they come back into fashion again Arvetta. It seems not so long ago everyone was wearing them 😀
Thank you Sadia. I've added the mats to my list and I'm going to look into them 😀.
Great haul! Lucky you! 😊
I certainly have been Elizabeth 😀
I've made sock bags in two sizes. It's put on a coat hanger
I've never seen sock bags. Will have to check it out 😃
I’ll pray for a quick healing so you can get back to sewing, Izzy Martínez I’ll think on ideas for you.
Thanks Izzy. I just had to have a go at sewing today. Just couldn't use scissors 🤣
Those pieces would make beautiful Bible book covers.
They sure would Cynthia 😀
Great score. What about gift card envelopes to make a more special presentation?
Perfect idea girle5 😀
Patchwork cushion covers
That's a lovely idea Angela 😀
Dog bandanas and collars with matching poop bags
A very cute idea Bo. Thank you 😁
Stitch samples together to make different sizes of pillows with a zipper closing on one edge or the back can have an envelope closing.
These are great ideas Bonnie 😀
Nice fabrics ❤ How about cube packing bags for travelling. Shoulder bags. Lunch bags for work that you knot up. Kids library bags.
These are great ideas Sue. I've added them to the list 😀
Patchwork cushions, throws etc...also patchwork animal beds & doggy neckties /warm coats
Lots of great ideas Angie. Thank you 😀
might be able to make some chair covers for the arms of the chairs , i have make some so the dog does not scratch the leather mine have a been good and easy , Placemats could also be good ??Xmas style ones might be good where you add you cutlery , in a pocket. side note Please Christine I would love a pattern for a tea towel / bar towel topper (I currently make one with a dress top but need a male version maybe football jersey ?? I know you might have a great easy way to draft one TFS
Thanks Maxine. I've added these to the list, and will give the bag topper some thought 😀
YOU WILL BE JUST FINE. YOU CAN MAKE TOILET PAPER HOLDER OR PAPER TOWEL HOLDERS OR COMB AND BRUSH BAGS TO HANG IN THE BATHROOM.
Thanks Joanne. I've added them to the list 😀
Cup holders for people to carry their Starbucks and Duncan Donuts Coffee while on the go. On a crossbody strap would make them hands free.
That's a wonderful idea Pat. Thank you 😀
Those are fabulous swatches!! I wanted to actually ask, if I may, what breed is your dog? Lol I’m a huge dog lover and your dog “talking” to you immediately caught my attention and instantly reminded me of my boxer!!
Haha. Misty, Coco is a Boxer too she always has a lot to say😄
Hello Christine, what do you do with pieces of fabric that have paper glued to the whole back? I have some and I cannot get the paper off. Even soaking in soapy water did not do the trick... :-(
Thank you for your videos and for sharing your knowledge!
Take care of your hands, get well soon
I haven't had any with full paper on the back Ann, but why not just use them as lined toiletry or cosmetic bags or even wallets and leave the paper in there. If they're not washed, they should be ok as is 😀
Hello Christine, thank you for answering!👍
So you think it will be ok to sew through the paper? That it won't ruin the needle?
Best wishes 🙂
@@anngee7977 I've been doing it a lot recently, but do change my needles regularly. General rule of thumb is to change needle every 6 to 8 hours of sewing, though it may be double for me by the time I remember. I do still try to remove what paper I can though.
I developed a way that gets most of it off. Will do a video as I wouldn't know how to explain in text 😄
Ann Gee you can iron the paper/backing off.
