WE'RE BACK! First Ice Fishing 2024 | Small Pond, BIG Teeth!

- Here we go! I was finally able to get out onto some safe ice on January 3rd, 2024 to scratch the itch most of us ice fisherman have this time of year. A 90-minute drive from Chittenden County yielded a successful outing on the hardwater, with a handful of pickerel and several dozen yellow perch to show for it. Sit back and enjoy the ice fishing action from this day, the first of many outings of 2024!

Nice trip. The black jacket is famous! lol. Cheers!
Yes it is! Lol it is a much better option on the hardwater instead of in the deer woods! Certainly a fun and successful first trip out on the ice this year. Cheers to you my friend! Happy new year!
Good to see someone's on the ice. This last month of waiting has been so painful, especially after things looked so promising in November. At this point, I would be happy to chase some pickerel so I may have to follow you up in that direction in a week or so.
Seasons greetings my friend! I agree, these last couple of winters have started slow and stayed warm. Exactly why we hopped in the truck and went for a drive. If this were a normal ice year I wouldn’t think twice about this pond but yesterday it certainly scratched the itch!
I used to ice fish Lake Rennemede in Windsor, Vermont for pickerel and perch. The largest pickerel I’ve caught was 4 pounds my neighbor caught a 6 pound 36 inch pickerel during the summertime, the largest I’ve heard of.
I fished Runnemeade years ago on New Year’s Day, I believe the locals down there call it “Everett’s” if I’m not mistaken. We managed a handful of small pike and some perch, not a bad way to shake a new years hangover. Over the years I think I’ve caught 4 or 5 pickerel over the four-pound mark, they don’t get much bigger than that. 6lbs would be close to a state record!
Was hoping to see the one-man Sprague shanty setup, but I'll take what I can get
I haven’t seen that shack in way too long which is criminal.
Snag a couple of gas station breakfast sandwiches and fill up the thermos for me! If you don’t have bibits sticking into your bibs or jacket, you’re not doing it right!
😂😂😂 will do buddy! You had an entire tackle shop worth of hooks stuck in those flannel pants hahaha
Willoughby has some big perch, my dad said an 18 inch perch was caught there.
Willoughby is deep and dark, I’m sure she has some monsters lurking in there!
Awsome video been hard to find safe ice this year in vt.
Thank you very much! Yeah this year has somehow been worse than last year for ice. This cold snap right now is definitely helping but who knows what ice fishing on Champlain is going to look like this year. Good luck out there my friend! 😎
@@WoodsNorth exactly im not huge on ice fishing tbh but beats sitting on couch till spring and lets face it making content is fun either way
Amen to that!
