- I've definitely caught larger lakers, and certainly some smaller, but to me size doesn't matter when you're landing your first trout of the new year! While the ice making conditions have been less than ideal, I managed to find some safe laker ice in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. Please sit back and relax, and enjoy the action from a beautiful Tuesday afternoon!

Still not enough ice for lakers on champlain 😥Outer malletts had enough for like 4 days and I missed the window.
This weather sucks! Yeah early last week it looked like outer Mallets was good to go, hopefully this cold snap will lock everything back up to salvage the end of the ice fishing season. I know it's not the same but there's a ton of ponds in the NEK that are safe to chase lakers on. I'll probably be back up this weekend or next! 😎
