Great video,I definitely agree! I haven't seen any of UK 5 yet but I will say that I met Kate Butch right before she went on RPDR and she is absolutely lovely in person and so funny and sweet!
not even a minute in, i've never seen drag race once in my life but if i see a new theo's ghost upload you bet i'm watching. will probs reply with my thoughts as the vid goes on because i can see myself becoming invested tbh
as a fellow video editor ive been waiting to see if anyone is going to explain how editing/production really works, or i was going to make a vid about it. So thank you for break this down. Youre doing something here that’s so important. ❤️👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
woah i had no idea! i literally met micheal ginger and tomara the other day.. and banksie a few weeks ago.. makes you wonder about all gthe unspoken things going on behind the scenes
I'm glad more people are talking about this! In germany, there had been a discussion similar to this, about germany's next topmodel. How the show was being edited in a way that everyone fit a certain narrative and how the show was manipulated to make people perform worse oder better. I'm very happy it's being talked about more - it's a TV show! Not everything is 100% reality. Thank you for talking about it as well :)
I never took Drag Race too seriously, but especially after I started following queens on youtube like Bob & Monet and Trixie & Katya I definitely began watching the show with a more critical eye towards how the queens were being edited into archetypes. I definitely second watching Drag Tea with Matt's video on the topic, it's really interesting to see how tailored all of our media is to feed our primal interests and emotions.
it's crazy how what you're saying is obvious, yet I needed someone to state it to realize all of this! It's great that you took time to say these things
Sometimes Drag as performance art is interesting but most of the time watching people dressing as an exaggerated woman and miming songs is just not interesting. I never understood why Gay culture is so obsessed with it. As a biological Gay man …. perhaps we can just be ourselves which is sometimes masculine and sometimes feminine. Just as some Gay men act more masculine than they are, many Gay men act more feminine than they are just to fit in to the Gay community ….. can we just be ourselves?
i’ve never seen drag race or interacted with the fandom but this seems batshit crazy

wait so like. they hid her behind the editing?? how time consuming must that have been
agreed!!! critical thinking is SO important and we need to think more critically with stuff

I have to truly compose myself here, but the fact that Ru then proceeded to bring out a song called „blame it on the edit“ keeps cracking me tf up
That was at the front of my mind as well!
