The look on Gravey’s face is priceless. You can see just how down to earth he is from his reaction. And of course no clip is complete without Mess crying. 😂
years ago, my friend and I were in a cab on the way to the Garden for a game and we saw Graves walking down the street towards MSG....we immediately got out and walked with him for more than a couple blocks...He walked and talked to us like we were all friends going to watch the Rangers....it was AWSEOME!!!! He is so nice and treats everyone like friends
Damn that still brings me to tears every time. Graves is my sports hero, and he's the humblest guy in the world. Look how he's absolutely stunned by this announcement, and then tries to motion to Leetch like, "no this is YOUR night" during the ovation. Made up my mind right then and there that I HAD to go to Adam Graves night, and I'm happy to say I did. Heart of Ranger indeed. Thank you, #9!
Graves is a Ranger legend who deserved it. And, he is very humble. First time I met him, I talked about his 52 goal season. He said it was because of his teammates. Nicest athlete I ever met. He was one of the few players to make me proud to be a Ranger fan.
@Michael Solano You & I Both, I still tear up when I see this, tears of joy that is, Adam Graves will always be My All Time Favorite Rangers Player, I wasn't going to miss Graves Night; I have got A Whole Facebook Album from it!!
I remember driving to the Brian Leach retirement game… Sitting in the car with my two brothers and my father about to enter the Lincoln tunnel… I said to my father all we need now is to have Graveys number retired and we will have All four of our guys up there in the rafters… He replied Adam Graves is a great player but the Rangers will never retire his jersey… I remember looking at my fathers face when Brian Leach announced this…he was like Holy Crap!!!
Yea, you can tell along with being a great player, his polish and professionalism comes from being a graduate of a school like BC. Mike Richter is the same way as well. Class acts on and off the ice. Adam Graves has to be one of the most respected pros out there with all he has done for families and children in the city and suburbs of New York as well as other cities in the US & Canada.
It seems somewhat fitting that the most memorable moment in the night LEETCH's number gets retired is the announcement of Graves's number going up next year. Beyond his incredible talent, he was always selfless and more than happy to allow other players to own the spotlight despite Leetch going down as likely the best American born defenseman in history.
Im a die Sharks fan and got to meet Graves briefly at the All Star game weekend last year and he was a gentleman, humble and signed my puck, I loved having him in teal.
I was privileged to be there for Mess, Leetch, and Gravey's ceremonies. Gravey was my favorite by far. His entrance through the kids still brings me to tears.
Hard to believe with Leetch and Messier but Graves was the most important player on that team. An enforcer type that could skate a regular shift on the top line and play in all situations. Naturally it took its toll.
Yes I was lucky enough to participate in The Annual Toys for Tots Graves was involved in. On one occasion I brought my young sons to meet Adam ,always a gentleman & class. But when we left my oldest son realized he didn't get his hat signed & started crying. An older gentleman asked why was he crying , I said he forgot to get his hat signed. Well the man said " Come with me! " We went back to the event took us right back to Adam he signed my son's hat . He was a happy kid again . Then at home watching the news coverage of the Toy Drive we see the older gentleman being interviewed on TV . Little did we know that person was Adam's father!!! You can tell Adam came from good parents & values. Yes Adam Graves Great Ranger but a better human being, a Class Act Thank you Adam & Mr Graves!
I love this! I’m not surprised. I get to chat with him frequently, as he comes to my job pretty often and he really is such a standup guy. Always super kind and so genuine.

Michael Solano Good and lucky for you, Michael. With Leetchie being my all-time favorite player, I so wish I had been able to go to this night. :)

One of my all-time favourite moments. The 100% genuine surprise and humility on Adam's face is priceless.
Goosebumps. Even now. Could Leetch have been any classier?????

The heroes of my youth. i love these guys

Nothing but ABSOLUTE CLASS for Leetch to take away from his night!!!
Gravy is the definition of grit and heart
I was privileged to be there for Mess, Leetch, and Gravey's ceremonies. Gravey was my favorite by far. His entrance through the kids still brings me to tears.
I was there for this. We chanted, "Please come back! "

And score
I'm an islander fan but Graves was is always will be remembered as THE HEART OF THE RANGERS
I was there that night. This video doesn't do justice how LOUD the Garden got when Leetch made this announcement.

Omg! That's awesome!! His Dad being a police officer was a HUGE inspiration. Lucky u 😉

@Leticia S. Wow you get to see Adam regularly. He IS a stand up guy, not a phony, not someone with attitude. Always a gentleman with class!
I met Adam graves at hockey practice, nicest guy
The look on graves face is priceless
The perfect teammate Brian leetch
So well deserved.All world class...Always .....
I cried 😭
Cried that moment.

Definitely an underrated moment in Ranger history. We all as fans were overjoyed for Adam in that moment
Do you have the full Brian Leetch speech??
These are the moments Rangers fans lose their eye water...
28 years and counting.
How long have the leafs been counting ? What about Montreal ? What about Jersey ( 2003 ) ? …..Ain’t easy winning the Cup . Even harder repeating .
@@BadGoy1488 They're all counting. But this video is about the rangers not the leafs or devils.
@@nemonucliosis true but the Rangers aren’t the only team in the category of waiting. It could be much worse .
@@BadGoy1488 yeah I never said they were.
Surprise Adam!!!
The train
2024!
