im doing the second method. Ive successfully created the circle, but everytime i apply the new created art brush, theres a huge object over the wreath, how do i fix it so only wreath is seen.

Really important moment on 2 way is to make this line-branch with stroke only, don't fill it! I didn't notice it and had bad result unless I tried to leave stroke only.

it does not have to be black, you can use other colors. but I prefer to make it black and set the brush method to tint, so I can change the brush color by changing the stroke color

My brush will not work no matter what i try, followed 100% on brush stroke making, and paused to make sure all options are as yours, they are , and still my brush explodes into a giant ugly thing over laps all over the place, does not look like wreath or uniform to scale. if you're using art brush or transform effect to create the wreath, you need to expand the wreath first before change the color. if you're using rotate tool, just select your wreath then go to swatches panel and change the color.
