This was an awesome video and well worth the wait! Now I understand why my gorgeous strap was slightly delayed. Thanks to Mrs. Saving Time for the updates on my order. It was also well worth the wait! Thank you for sharing your talents with us in RUclips land! I am truly in awe and have been waiting on this project like a child on Christmas!
Thank you I appreciate your custom and your kind words. Glad you liked the project bit of a weird one this time around, but the watch world can be very serious, have to lighten it up every once in a while.
@@Saving-Time Your statement is so on point and I have definitely learned that in a short period of time! I am looking forward to seeing the finished product on Wasting-Time. Thanks again!
Ah, a new treat My favorite Friday entertainment, clicked for the project and stayed for the finger shots. Also happy to hear that you are kind of learning female Swedish in the English dialect. It can take a lifetime to understand, but it's quite impossible to master. True story.
The "film" you found on the movement reminds me of dried vegetable oil. You know, the resinous film that forms near a deep fat fryer. 🤭 I love all the care and detail you devote to your projects. Much respect 🫡🤝
Strap making and now dial making. Pretty cool. I found with the Chinese mainspring winders that if you drill out some of the arbor holes to larger sizes, you can use these to be more like the generic Bergeon winders for far less cost. That gives you the flexibility to use different arbors with the winders.
Hi David - I’m a watch fan and worked 35 years in the movie business and always wanted to get custom dials made for the various movies as a gift to crewmates but could never get anything reasonable ( I did get a quote from Bamford back in 2012- when they were still doing interesting work - and it was laughably expensive!😂 Like you did, I would get the movies concept artist to do the art, easy-peasy , but then always hit a wall….So go for it : there is a very nice niche for this if it is at all reasonable lay priced. Thank you.
Thank you, I can only imagine the price you got quoted by Bamford! This one was just a bit of fun for my wife. I worked in the VFX industry for a while so I know quite a few artists. I've been 100% unsuccessful at borrowing some Arri cameras to film with though 😂 Glad you enjoyed the video. Appreciate you letting me know.
David, what a joy to watch this video. You are super talented. Not many watch hobbyist can makes straps and hand paint a dial with laser. Absolutely stunning and fantastic, and a joy to watch. Bravo maestro! 💪
@@Saving-Time you are a genuine master at so many things, it's hard to wrap my head around! Thank you for your kind words and coming from you, it means a lot.
@@Saving-Time Well, let me put it this way, normally you restore watches with precision and craftsmanship, which I love very much, but this project also embodies a real artistic ardour and only marginally you are also blessed in that respect. So I think the project deserves the respect it deserves. With that in mind, all the best and have a wonderful and relaxing Sunday.
Great stuff and very informative. I'm going to have a go at this myself. Which laser did you use? You have my sympathy on the translation of wife-ese. "I don't want any chips" translates to "I'll have your chips when you get them".
I'm familiar with that one too, you get better and better at decoding the lingo with time :) I used a cheap small diode laser from AliExpress. Good luck with the dial project!
Thank you, I used something from the local art store because I didn't have time to wait for delivery but I would recommend the brushes from Rosemary & Co www.rosemaryandco.com/ They make great quality brushes which makes a huge difference when you're painting so it's worth paying a bit extra.
Fingers crossed this gets you out of the doghouse, if the strap manufacture video never arrives, I guess we have our answer. Great to hear the atelier has taken off so well.

You’re brilliant mate. Merry Christmas from me to you and the missus from Pa USA

You never cease to amaze…excellent…well done👍…for your next project, you should paint the last supper on the head of a matchstick…hahaha
Thank you! I think that might just be a bit outside my skill set ;)
Amazing work, do you paint dials for a dee? Thanks
