- I wanted this to be a mid week video and get some riding filmed for the actual vlog but the comedian Jack Whitehall was in town and wanted to go riding so I ended up not filming (even though it would have been a good one to film (I don't think he wanted me to)).
So instead here's a semi detailed video explaining what I run on my bike.
The bar height is 104cm
I'm keeping the bike weight secret for now as I may do a "guess the weight" competition.

Bike looks amazing! Also really like the new camera setup. You're killing it! See you soon
Damn fabio is here
Absolutely the best bike ever by inspired! Just can't get over with the paint job it's the best colour combination ever I've seen on any trials bike! Have fun Ali, waiting for some good clips of you riding the bike cheers!!!
Nice tip about putting moldable plastic on the "inside" of the end of the brake lever, I've just got a painful cut on my middle finger two days ago that I could've avoided with that.
This bike is absolute beauty. I wish I could hop and jump like you on one of them bikes one day.
amazing bike, thanks for the vid. Any suggestions for new trials riders for a good bike or bike brand to look for? Pretty hard in the US it seems like to track down good trials advice
Ali, thanks for the Vlogs. I'm finding that I enjoy watching many different vloggers to see what's going on in the world. I ordered an Arcade today, though the distributors are out for the next month or so. After quite a bit of debate I thought I'd give this model a go.
I'm suprised you recommend alloy spoke nipples. Always found them to be a weak point personally. Over time they sieze; then tend to twist and snap when trueing wheels at a later date. What gauge spokes do you run out of interest? 2.0/1.8 or 2.0/1.5mm?
Also notice you're wheels are laced symmetrically. I was always taught to lace asymmetrically by my old boss Mick Madgett. He reckoned they broke less spoke heads that way.. The drive side is "right" on your bike, but on the non-drive the spoke following he reckons to thread the same direction through the flange as the drive side. Fronts are matched the same to rear. Not that I'm trying to teach you to suck eggs.. Just a passed on tip from a man who's built a lot of wheels.
Nice bike though dude! I look at the gear available off the shelf nowadays; it's well designed and really well priced. Back when I was riding I scraped together for a mk1 DMR sidekick (which I still have). Was strong and it did the job, but geometry wasn't ideal and HS33 on pivots was always a chore!
Any ways nuff ramblings.. Keep up the dope riding and footage, big up!
Amazing bike Ali! Do you have the link for titanium bolts?
Sweet... Every detail looks functional and and really sharp.
Hi Ali,
I'd really like it if you made a video with an in depth explanation of how you got into trials, when you started, who taught you some of these skills and what bikes you used. I've heard bits an pieces but no full explanation and as someone who has only ever seen trials on RUclips, I have no way of knowing what I would do if I wanted to start, or where I would go
Super nice bike! Super nice video quality aswell! Feel sorry for that helmet though, having those big spikes pedals sticking into it!
Hey Ali that is such a sick setup I've always been a fan of those see through chromed paint jobs, really love that. I'm working on building the same wheel set you have except in 26 inch for my rockman switch. I'm curious about the spokes are they the double butted Sapims as standard from Tarty Bikes? Would love to hear your thoughts on spoke choice! All the DJ guys from here in british columbia use straight gauge and it got me wondering what guys like you use for your mega street hucking as Tarty left me the impression double butted are superior for all trials.
Awesome! What your saying totally makes sense, you've helped me decide I'm definitely going with double butted spokes, thanks!
First of all Ali, the thumbnail for this was stunning and i really liked the video. I would also like to say that Vlog 36 had incredible slow mo shots. I Hope to see more in future videos (at least one or two per). Especially on gaps, high jumps, and high drops. The thumbnail for 36, right before that is a slow mo clip and it looks like you simple float across the space between the two ledges. It makes you riding and videos look even better.
"
. Cheers Ali C.
At 50% rate it should still be a good slow motion. You shouldn't go lower than that though.
Hi Ali.
did you ever have problems with rust inside the seattube?
Ive got a used arcade and there was no grease inside so its a little bit rusty..
would you suggest do „wash“ it out with oil or anything similar?
The bike is great so i dont want it to get damanged because of this in the future ;)
And im interested in the axle you use on the fork mine uses the inspired through axle with the hope hub.
thanks in advance.
Do comp riders use a slack chain? It doesn't make much sense to me. Why would you go to the trouble of having hubs with jillions of engagement points if it takes half a pedal stroke to pick up the slack in your chain? (bit of exaggeration used)
Which size of the Pedal do you have? Small 100mm x 100mm or large 114mm x 111mm
Hey Ali I'm currently running a inspired Skye v3 for about 6 months nowand have just got a small wee dent on the side of the toptube in the middle area and was wondering if this is any concern because I can't find a job or have no money to replace frame if it does break I really enjoy Skye and geo so any thoughts and would like to hear your honest truth thank you !!
I fell in love with this bike! I'm getting the arcade pro!
"Shush you moorhen, be quiet" - made me laugh a lot.
in 2022, it is still the best looking Inspired trials bike I've ever seen. It's perfect
i love the all red look. I've got an idea for a video for sometime in the future if you're interested. i'm new to trials biking and I was just wondering what the difference between a street trials bike and a thoroughbred trials bike is
Hey! Can you explain me what the difference between the Arcade and the Fourplay is? I wanna buy a new bike but i don't know wich one :) Thanks fir every help!
Videos like this are great! Other than the fact that they get me thinking how bad my bike is. I see bunches of people using those grips, may give them a try myself.
Gotta get myself a bike that'll give me no problems, I get held back weekly by repairs on a beater.
Ali which BB are you running? If I wanted to add descendant cranks to my Arcade which type of descendant crank do you use (There seems so many different types)
Crank Brothers Stamp pedals: I'm interested in how these stand up to your and Danny M's hard riding. I'd like to have wider pedals. I'm hoping the Stamps are among the sturdier Crank Brothers designs, and not the others...
The thing I noticed about the pedals was that the bearings looked too tight. There was zero rotation from spinning them.
What a beautiful bike! Great Video!
hey Ali hope you read this (or anyone that can respond to this). I'm looking to get started in street trials (I come from BMX Racing) but I'm not sure about what bike to get: Fourplay or Arcade. What's your recomendation? Thank you and btw your bike is beautiful :D
great bike. what are your thoughts on minimum amount of clicks on the rear hub?
Mine is terrible as I have cannabilised my other bikes to build up trials rig on the cheap. so I need to be looking at something. Are over 100click hubs overkill?
Thanks.
Ali Clarkson Thanks. will try an old hope.
What size aluminum bolt did you use on your front fork and does it fit into the 15mm axel? On your next vlog would it be possible to post a clip discussing/showing the modification made on your truvativ cranks?
hey there Ali. just wondering, are you still running tubeless setup tyres on your new bike? thanks mate 👍
Hi Ali awesome set up. enjoying watching your vids, hopefully give street triala ago one day.what happens to your old bikes do you sell them ? 🤘
Why don't you run the Hope Trials specific hubs? They've got a shorter cassette body which brings the drive side flange out making the spoke angle a bit stronger. I think they have a different engagement though?? Keen to hear your thoughts.
Ah too easy! Camera lens is deceiving me.
Hello Ali, great bike check vlog, how much does your arcade now? Because on the Tartybike website 12.68kg for the fuse and 11.74kg for the team arcade are indicated!
Ali Clarkson Ok, I'm curious about it ☺! A question I still have, with how much bar air pressure you drive on your tire at which body weight? For my tubes are often flying around my ears! Your rear tire always looks very hard?
Ali Clarkson yes thank you, the does it! i will it at me times try out and then look! 👍🏻
Holy cow. 70kgs only. How tall are you?
Nico Hübner I guess about 1.85 m, I stood next to him😁
Amaxing Videos. Got a Question.
When you said Bar Height at 104cm. Where was that measure from? Ground to?
Thanks for any help.
Your tube's presta valve is still green, Ali! Get on that, mate, hahaha
Been loving all of your videos Ali! How is the stretched tube over the rim tubeless tire setup working for you with the glue?
Why do you have your brake levers switched? (Front on the right side and back on the left side)
Hi Ali I was just wondering why your mt7 does not have the fluorescent rings on it... How do you do it?
could you make a parts list?
I live in Australia and want to start out doing this street trials but don't know where to get a bike like this for cheap. Any recommendations?
I wonder how much all those bolts save. Is it really worth it or should I just look for something like lighter shoes or pants?
True!!
Ali Clarkson Awesome, so intense. I feel like I'd need a friend that I was super, super competitive with to care that much. Even then I don't think I'd care that much, a liter of water must weigh 5 pounds.
I think personal weight helps you do tricks easier
I happen to be build the same wheels, what spokes did you use? Length?
hi Ali what is the length of the descendant cranks you are using? is it 170 or 175? thank you
michael staana 175.
I love Fridays for your videos 👍
hi Ali just wondering. what width do you run your bars at.
Really nice bike, love the colour
Hey Ali, just wondering what happened to you're fourplay last year?
He sold it because it was about to destroy him. :D
True
Hey Ali, what tire pressure are you runnin' mate??
Hey Ali, Quick question about the tubeless system I run about 80 psi on my dirt jumper would you still recommend tubeless then or would that be pointless?
Ali Clarkson if I'm going to try tubeless I'll try your system, for any type of tricks it seems like the only proper option.
tubeless for DJ is a waste of time, it's unnecessary, and if you ever don't land a 360, flip, or any other rotational trick perfectly straight you're going to burp air / sealant most likely.
It is most likely but I would be interested to see if it would work with the foam.
Buying some magura brakes and already have a shimano brake adapter could I use that or do I need a magura one ?
Cool bike, thanks for the video. Cheers from Ukraine!
Should I jump on a setup like this as a total noob? I can do basic techniques on my mtb but want to expand my riding.
stoichiometric do you want to get into dirt jumping or street trials?
That is one amazing looking bike!
how can i buy inspired bike if im from Israel? there is no trial shop in Israel and i accualy want an inspired bike, whats the price?
When's you video with jack Whitehall coming out ?
Teddy Gibson Read the description!
wait ..... jack whitehall rides trials ???
Finding an ali video that I haven't watched is like finding 20 bucks in the couch cushions.
Been looking for a while to find a trails rider so your awesome and I've subbed!!
hello ! i would know how ajust my handlebar on my arcade fuse 2017. thats look higher than i was thought! higher than standard ajust. (lines on bar). thanks!
My brother has been running the same odi staystrong grips on his race bmx for 7years and they are still not very worn
Stand up.... How much is the specification?
Strange that you've had positive experiences with alloy nipples. I'm most fond of brass, it machines a lot nicer, and when the nipples are made by a respectable company (which admittedly, brass nipples are made by every man and their dog), don't bind up and tension nicely. DT Swiss, Sapim, and Wheelsmith come to mind. I've destroyed more aluminium nipples in my time as a mechanic than brass, in respect to how many of each I've dealt with.
That said, not at all criticizing you for using alloy, they certainly look good, and since you're only using the best quality stainless steel spokes, you can't really go wrong.
Which pressure are u using on the trial bike??
You need to try Shadow Conspiracy Interlock V2 or Supreme chain
Would those pedals fit normal bmx cranks? My pedals are too small for me and those look nice and big.
Hitlers' other ball so your bike is bmx. What is the bike style in the video considered?
Pedals are a one size fits all. Yes they will work on your bmx cranks.
What pads do you recommend to use with the MT7s?
can you recommend a set of grips that don't shred your palms? I'm currently running a set of generic inspired lock ons but after a couple of hours on the bike they skin patches on my palm which can then take a week or so to heal so I'm off the bike, really frustrating......
Ali Clarkson nice one, will look them up.
gloves work.
Where can u get those bikes? U mentioned the website at the end of this video but I cannot make out what u said :/
MTB Josh you can get trials bikes from tartybikes.com. It’s not going to be exactly the same as his bike because he built it custom, but close enough.
Thanks Ali :) I've been watching your videos for at least a year now. Well done! I've been wanting to order a custom Arcade & I'm glad to hear they ship worldwide. Who would be the best to reach out to for that pls? James.
Tartybikes
