This shows me how inconsistent my picking really is. I always wanted to understand modes but never learned modes. Applying them over chords that match doesn’t mean anything unless understand basic principle which is probably sound

I did somethinf like this when i first started guitar but it was a Paul giobert 3 note per string economy picking all up and down the board just to improve my dexterity and to help articulate my fingers for accuracy and precision but hand scyncranization is key to guitar mastery
He’s playing modes, although each mode is played 8 times a piece. This is also memorizing workout
This brutality reminds me of my first four months of playing (following J. Mclaughlin's advice of playing nothing but scales when first learning the guitar). Now, 45 years later, the thought of doing this again makes reading the Medicare guidebook seem like a Swedish message...Mclaughlin's advice, though, was spot on. Once you can cleanly play this video at the correct speed, your hand strength will be sufficient to play whatever kind of music makes you happy!

How do you know when to use each scale?
I believe after this practice my left hand will cramp and can't get back to normal form😂
It looks like normal alternate picking to me. IF that's so Frank is known for NOT alternate picking, hence the 3 note per string ( Down/Up/DownDown). Which kind of picking is this?
Economy picking
Yes it looks like he's alternate picking vs Frank's economy picking.. Both work for 3NPS
In the Chop Builder video, I think Frank alternate picks this bit. The sweeping comes later
and after you are done... tendinitis!
In reality, the symbols for chords are wrong here
Phrygian is actually notated m7(b2)(b6)
Aolian is not m7, it is m7(b6)
imagine memorize this in 12 keys. No wonder Frank is bald now😂😂
Once you learn all 7 shapes and practiced in one key it a lot , it won’t be that difficult to visualise in other keys as well.
