- We're off to the cobbles of Wetherfield now for the next TIYL instalment but unlike other Corrie themed episodes the book master Michael Aspel is not venturing to the iconic Rovers Return he's actually venturing to the hair salon which was then owned by Fiona Middleton the mother of recent newcomer to the street Emma Brooker Steve McDonald's long lost daughter alias Alexandra Mardell. The subject in question is a true Corrie legend who made her debut on the cobbles in 1979 and has been a permanent fixture ever since off screen she's married to another Corrie icon Mark Eden who played legendary baddie Alan Bradley from 1986-89 before he famously met his maker in front of a Blackpool tram after terrorizing poor Rita Tanner. Enjoy folks as Michael Aspel presents This Is Your Life Sue Nicholls alias Audrey Roberts.
Today is November the 14th, 2023. In just 9 days, our beloved Sue is gonna celebrate her 80th birthday!
My Mum attended the same school as Sue, they were in the same class together :)
I love when Mark goes to hug Barbara. It shows just what good friends they were.
The moment Alan and Rita meet. What a lovely greeting. They was great together and one of my favourite storylines and baddies.
Lovely. Watching from Australia. Lots of my favourite Corrie characters here including the late great Ann Kirkbride and Liz Dawn. Back when Corrie was fun and unmissable. (I had forgotten Sue was also in Crossroads) xx
I love watching these and wish they'd bring this show back. Saying that though it wouldn't be the same because most famous people nowadays don't seem as genuine and down to earth as they used to be years ago...Which is a shame
Love how normally the celebs getting This is Your Lifed are fairly surprised at who comes on, meanwhile Sue is just like "WAIT THEY GOT WHO" for every other person, it's so great

I like sue Nicholls a lot she's a wonderful actress playing the part of Audrey Roberts in coronation street. Brian Mosley played her screen husband in the soap opera but she also met and became friends with Mark Eden in fiction then she married him in real life. R.i.p. Mark and Brian.

There are so many wonderful moments in this, but for me it's when she says "I'm not a star." Her genuine talent and humility shine through. Something her younger, grossly overpaid and largely talentless contemporary fellow "actors" could learn from.

Alan(Mark Eden) and Rita(Barbara Knox) reunion on Sue Nicholls This Is Your Life. Brilliant how Mark hugged Barbara who he hasn't seen since Alan was killed off in a hit by tram scene that was seen by millions worldwide Alan getting his final cuppentance in a horrifying scene broadcast for all Coronation Street fans worldwide to watch.
What a treat to see John Inman (aka Mr. Humphries on Are You Being Served?) Funny, too, because Sue's hair fresser reminded me of John.

I collect autographs of corrie stars past and present all cast members do send a signed photograph but sue didn't just send me a standard signed photo she actually took the time to write down a few words thanking me for my autograph request there has been some big iconic characters over the years and sue playing Audrey is definitely up there with the best iconic characters Lee Hambleton from Sheffield
The cast of corrie must of of got bored turning up for This is your life every other week haa

life imitating art because Sue's onscreen husband Alf passed away on new years day 1999 her real life husband passes away on new years day 2021 spooky but sad sad times

A trip down memory lane, lovely to see all those characters from long ago. The posh accents though... 😏 So over the top, and a bit cringe. How did Sue Nichols and her family all come out of Walsall speaking like that?
