- I hope you have your tissues ready everyone because my second TIYL episode for you which takes us back to Corrie is an emotional one. Our subject for this episode is a true Corrie legend having made her debut on the cobbles in 1972. Since her debut she endured drama and heartache by the bucket load, so much so her character's 2 marriages to Ken Barlow alias Mr Corrie William Roache attracted more viewers than either of Prince Charles' weddings to the late Princess of Wales Diana Spencer in 1981 and the Duchess of Cornwall Camilla Parker Bowles in 2005. The character she played on Corrie had a memorable storyline in 1998 when she fell foul of a conman Jon Lindsey alias Owen Aaronovitch which resulted in her being falsely sent down for fraud and thus triggered the memorable "Free The Weatherfield One" campaign which headlined the front pages of the national newspapers and saw the then Prime Minister Tony Blair command his home secretary Jack Straw to investigate the issue. Also fans revived that campaign in 2018 when Sally Metcaffe alias another Corrie legend Sally Dynevor was sent down for similar reasons having fallen foul of another conman Duncan Radfield alias Nicholas Greaves the rebooted Demon Headmaster. Tragically in January 2015 she passed away due to breast cancer but her legacy lives on to this very day at the National Television Awards 2 days after her passing Adam Woodyatt Eastenders longest serving cast member dedicated the show's Best British Soap award to "The Weatherfield One" referencing that famous Corrie storyline. Also that year she posthumously won the Outstanding Achievement award at the British Soap Awards. Enjoy and have the tissues ready for this feature length TIYL which pays tribute to the late great Anne Kirkbride you are missed to this very day Anne RIP.
I'm watching this in 2024, sad that so many of them have passed away.
All gone...
I went to school with Anne for 9rs she was a lovely girl at school we lived in the same neighbourhood she was a lovely girl .R.I.P Anne gone too soon❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
RIP ANN AND JOHNNY BRIGGS and those Corrie stars now passed for so long CORRIE was never the same again
RIP Anne Kirkbride.
A fine actor, but much more importantly a nice person.
A Corrie legend.
ACTRESS
She was lovely ❤
She seems so absolutely lovely and that really shone through! The genuine love she has for everybody!❤
She was lovely and really funny, she used to go the same doctors as my grandma
That was fabulous moment at the end when Neville Buswell came on, she was so happy to see him - brought a tear to my eye! RIP Anne
Who was it?
@@jackbrown4120 he played ray her first husband if you’ve watched it it says so 🙄
I fancied Neville Buswell and Ken Farrington (Billy Walker).
@@jackbrown4120 Ray Langton - Tracey's dad.
Congratulations
This had me crying such a fantastic actress who is badly missed
Anne was a beautiful woman, loved by many and sorely missed by everyone. RIP Sweet Anne Kirkbride.
So sad to see all the people that are no longer with us, reminds me of the days when Corrie was worth watching.
I live abroad and was shocked to learn, from the comments, that Anne Kirkbride had died. How terribly sad: much, much too young.
The character she played was memorable, she was a nice lady, she died to soon, RIP
When the cast started to walk in it suddenly hit me what a magnificent bunch of actors that show really had.
The voice of Deidre Barlow was always Coronation St for me growing. As soon as you hear that distinct voice, you knew you were in Corrie. She is missed so much.
60 years old, it's no age is it. She is sadly missed, rest in peace Anne x.
what a GORGEOUS human being she was. such a shame bastard cancer took her so young :( :( :(
😘😘
As a super fan of Corrie up to about 2005...haven't really watched it since, Deirdre was my favorite character. She comes across so humble, grateful and delightful in This Is Your Life here that I was surprised to read after that Anne was going through a very bad bout of depression at this time and admitted she could hardly muster up enthusiasm for the show and all the tributes and reunions, such was her struggle with depression. Fair dues as you would never guess here. Just shows the lengths people go to to try and portray that they're OK when they're not. Bless her. I was so sad when I heard the news of her passing. Gone too soon!😢
I think when rewatching this with that information in mind, you can see the bits where she is struggling. Either way, what an incredibly strong woman.
So many no longer here😢😢😢 used to watch it back then, when it was worth watching xx rip Anne xx
Aw, what the late great Bryan Mosley said was so lovely.
Yes, and he was truly great too, his acting on ITV3 Classic Corrie on weekdays is a daily masterclass.
He didn't look well here.
Graham D he looked a lot better here after Michael Caine threw him on top of a car from the top of the car park in Get Carter
@@09weenic Oh right. Duhhhh!!
They only come once in a lifetime. Annie Kirkbide was TV royalty. A tremendous actress as well as lady. I just hope people think so fondly of me as her colleagues and friends do of her! 💕💕💕💕💕
God Bless You Anne Kirkbride, May You Rest in Peace and All the Other Cast Members, no longer with Us, Stay Safe Everyone, with this Global Pandemic, XXXX
Love it. Back when Corrie was fun and unmissable - with the best cast. xxx
What a nice warm funny bubbly lady, and terrific actress. RIP Anne 😢
That made me teary at the end. Never ever heard a bad word about her. RIP Annie.....
lovely always cheery 💕💕💕👌👌👍👍🙏🙏
God i miss Anne kirkbride/ Deirdre Barlow❤️❤️❤️🌹🌹🥂 I hope she’s resting in peace....Such a beautiful and lovely lady...What a Beautiful soul
Saw her once in Manchester when i was a kid ,always fancied women in glasses think its cos of her bless her ,skinny little thing with long hair ,lovely lady
This was the most genuine lovely and loving episodes of TIYL i think I’ve seen. Every welcome and tribute seemed so heartfelt. One complaint though, the clip of Another Sunday and Sweet F.A didn’t do her justice, not only is she very good in a cracking TV play but they failed to show she had a fantastic pair of legs.
So great to watch. Annie was very highly thought of.
anne came to my late mothers tearooms years ago my mother said she was lovely 💕
Aww, really glad to hear that 😍
I love the way they try to make ‘the Street’ look like a real living street, with extras milling about, during Michael Aspel’s quick piece to camera. Up until the start of the millennium Corrie always worked to make the sets look as real as possible. Including having leaves and bits of litter strewn around. Today, even with a new exterior set, the show is a shadow of it’s former self.
When you read and hear anything said about Annie it’s always wonderful what a lady she was a true star who came into our living rooms 3 times a week for 40 years plus . She was like a friend Much loved and much missed
her dad did the illustrations in the oldham chron, i was buzzin when i found that out.
we were born in the same place too.
The warmth and affection between her and Neville Buswell was palpable. I always thought Ray and Dierdre made for a much better couple than Ken and Dierdre.
She is missed so much. She was The Street.
I agree, Ray and Deirdre seemed like such a natural couple ❤.
Yeah no looking for the camera to say his piece to get the glory was there, straight in the eyes from the heart.
Ray was a great character, a proper cheeky chappie..
Agreed.
@@cherylreid-panasiewicz6485 ken and Deirdre were never supposed to be a natural couple though, they admitted it themselves many times. They were supposed to be mismatched.
Beautiful reunion between her and Neville, you could tell there was real genuine love there. You must remember too that this was 1998. It was long before mobile phones, social media, WhatsApp and so on. And the world was a much bigger place or in other words it was significantly a lot more difficult to keep in contact with people back then than today as all we had was land lines (very expensive to ring USA) and the post. America in those days seemed like outer space but these days not so much.
From watching this, Anne appeared to be a warm and caring person, it's sad she died at 60, it's a sad loss to her family and the street, RIP X
Without the glasses she was so beautiful
Anne was a very well loved member of the cast. She was a lovely person. X
I'm not surprised that the day after Anne died everyone was sent home from filming because it was just too much for them.
How much our lives have changed since these simpler times 😥
What a beautiful lady with a beautiful, sensitive soul. I cried when she passed away. RIP Annie
What a lovely way to spend 40 minutes watching this. great telly. Thanks TIYL
RIP you was a legend great actress
Such a warm, down to earth and altogether lovely person. I can also honestly say that in her younger days she was one of the most beautiful women I have ever seen - eclipsed several supermodels!
Thanks for everything Anne, rest now luv..
She was an absolute legend. Everyone said what a beautiful person she was, inside and out. RIP Anne xx
Thank you for this memory.
RIP Annie x

So touching between Annie and Neville there.
So many people loved her and I loved her in Corrie. She’ll always be a Coronation Street legend. Such a shame she died at a very young age.
I'm so glad they did This is your Life before she died
Jane Sheehan this was 1998 Anne died 2015 !
KLF 5454 I think she means it’s good they did it while This is Your Life was still around
Not everyone got the opportunity to have an appearance as far as I know
anne's hubby was lovely.
NEARLY ALL ON HERE ARE GONE NOW, TIME FLIES BY, AND YOU DONT REALISE TILL ITS GONE, AND HOW PRECIOUS MOMENTS ARE
Annie kirkbide RIP 😢
Anne was a great actress very much missed RIP
I'm not a mojor fan of coronation street. I miss Anne kirkbride she was a wonderful actress. RIP annekird.
Apparently, Anne used to say " I love you" to everyone. Nice to see Brian Mosley, I really liked him as Alf. Bill Roache was very unkind to Ann after her death. He said she was a drama queen and an alcoholic. Lovely to see Jack & Vera
Anne's husband was really annoyed with Bill Roache for saying she was alcoholic. Bill had no right to say that, especially when she was sober for 30 years!
@Funeral Tango Completely, it put me right off him 😤. The actor who played Mike Baldwin, Johnny Briggs, on the other hand, gave an interview about Anne Kirkbride following her death, where he only said nice things and requested the money for the interview go to Cancer research instead.
such a beautiful, genuine person. we miss you annie xo
Joanne Upton

What a very decent human being she was!
Always loved her
Such a lovely lady. I loved her In. Corrie. I really did. And Blanche her mum, she was so funny in it and made it good now it's crap and depressing
