We see the warmth of Petula here and the lovely way she is able to receive compliments and fawning. I imagine all her friends mean everything they say. Petula warms my heart with happiness.
28:44 / 29:51 Petula CLARK I PUT YOUR SONGS ON MY FAMILY&FRIENDS STILL PHOTOS FOR YEARS ON VIDEOCLIPS FOR OVER 25YEARS + AND THEY ALL LOVED IT. THANKS FOR THE SONGS YOU SANG.
What an absolute icon this woman is. I'm one of her Aussie fans. She is such a humble gorgeous person. Truly England's rose, but the whole world loves her!
One particular memory her song, 'Downtown' evokes for me is my time working in a residential hospital for adults with learning disabilities. One resident who was severely learning disabled and sightless would only ever show a spark of animation whenever this song was played. She absolutely adored it and would listen to it on a loop 24/7 had it been permitted. The only word of the song she knew was 'Downtown' which she'd belt out with real gusto, then she'd mumble along with the rest of the song. So thank you, Petula, for this.
How many times as I am approaching a metropolitan area have I heard "Downtown, where all the lights are bright, downtown, you're gonna' be all right now!" Love it. love her. Love all, trust all, do harm [wrong] to none. Brotherhood of the Magic Stick.
I saw her in Blood Brothers, she was in her 60's.She hit this high note which literally sent chills down my spine. She's great she still has it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What a SPECIAL, spectacular singer and entertainer for us all! If only Fred Astaire could've been there... and I was so dang sad they somehow didn't get Peter O'Toole onscreen to salute her ... & Every moment of Anthony Newley just .. well ... sends me to the admiring stratosphere, so ... GO, PETULA! 🌟🌷You are a WONDER. Thank you for it ALL. xo, VCH & Midlantic Theatre Co., Newark, NJ, U. S. of Bleedin' A. 💗💚💙🙏🐸🌲 🎭🎵 Thx for posting this. PS: Sir Peter Ustinov! Saw and heard his BRILLIANT 1-man show in London, when I was in "Aspects of Love, 1989-90 ... HE IS ... I started crying, watching him salute her. He was ... Ahhhhhh ... no words. GIANTS, y'all. We've been SO privileged, to have been able to see and hear them! 🙏 Yes?
Just Wonderful......I knew there was a good reason why i always Loved Petula, ever since i was a small child i just had a connection a feeling about her.... Annnd to see how much Petula is Loved & Respected thru out her Life it just shows i guess i know how to pick em... lol....Petula is just a Wonderful Human Being. God Bless her!!
One very special lady who has done awesome things in her life... A GREAT LADY IS PETULA CLARK..... I just adore her even today, such a wonderful voice.
Watching a lot of American top shows it projected how popular Pet was in the USA to name but two Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra she was a great star among the great stars. Loved by the Americans as if she was one of their own. What a compliment for a Brit Star. I love you Pet............and I am 84 years old, but still watching you now in 2018.
15th November 2024 - Happy 92nd birthday Petula. On my first holiday away from my parents in 1964 on Phillip Island, Victoria, Australia I was blown away by the soon to be a hit song Downtown. At that time I was a huge Beatles fan and Petula really impressed me and she continued to enthral me with hit after hit. She was competing on the world stage with the all the stars of the British Invasion. In 1965 the song Round Every Corner was released and the words of the song still instil happiness and joy in me today. Now in my mid-seventies, the inspirational words about living life, remembering history and predicting that 'Man will soon be standing on the Moon'. The words also inspired us all to plan ahead for beautiful future, and the words are still a guiding light for me. Thankyou Petula.
For living her entire life in show business, Petula Clark is the most unshowbusinessy individual imaginable. She has always been firmly planted in real life in the best ways.
I've always wondered about the early years, how she got started, her singing for the British troops in WW 2 and the gap from then until Downtown was released. A BIG fan from America, THANK YOU! .rom the USA
What a lovely moment between Petula and David ,they must have had some wonderful times when performing in Bllood brothers ..and of course Petula has a wonderful voice ,very talented .😁
... and I met Shirley Temple in the early 1970's, in Tehran in the Intercontinental Hotel Restaurant. She was on her way to some African country to be Ambassador for the USA. A very pleasant and smart lady.
Does she still live in France? Where do she pay her Taxes? That's usually what it boils down too... They asked Lonnie Donegan that question and he gave the correct answer.
I never knew this existed so thanks for sharing such a genius talent. Truly lucky and blessed audience to see the show and then the REAL show! "Bugger the last train, we're staying in a hotel..."
Downtown was my first record I bought at 1.00$ plus 8% tx in Canada.. but what is most agreable is to understand that she travel through the years in grace and talent .
Everyone identifies the sixties with the Rolling stones and the Beatles. Let me tell you it was more Pet Clark than anyone, especially over the radio.😀♥️😄
I get goosebumps and chills not exactly for Ms Clark's music, which I love, but that she was so important to fighting men who were away from home and some would not be coming home. In a similar vein, I saw the Sofology commercial with Helena Bonham Carter and it made me see her in a new light, but what gave me chills is her grandfather was named Righteous among the Nations, by Israel for saving thousands of Jews by giving them Spanish visas.
This is actually a historic moment in TIYL history Michael stinging the book on Petula Clark made her the first and only person to cop the book three times in February 1964 and April 1975 by the late Eamonn Andrews and here by Michael which was the final episode of Series 36
I don't like musicals as a rule, but made an exception and went to see Sunset Boulevard as she was in it. I had no idea that This is your life was recorded during the run though.
Great special. I was surprised to see David Tomlinson there and in relatively good health. Now more than ever this makes me wonder why Disney did not have him come back to redub his own voice in "Bedknobs and Broomsticks," as this suggests he could possibly have done it.
I just created the Petula "Pet" Clark ~ ''A Dame If There Ever Was One" The Pet Clark Fan Club. Yes, she is one great dame; who should also be a "Dame"! Come join me and let's make it happen!
Gotta love that they didn't even let her own son say more than three words. He was trying to say something about her cooking "The big ish..." (Issue). What a crappy shame.
No words to describe her. She is the most amazing female performer this country has ever produced! Well done Pet. You truly deserve it!XX
We see the warmth of Petula here and the lovely way she is able to receive compliments and fawning. I imagine all her friends mean everything they say. Petula warms my heart with happiness.
So nice to see David Cassidy...he was my idol when I was young
I just Love Love Petula! A true talent.A legend in everyway!
She definitely should have been knighted Dame Petula!
I pray that she is healthy at 90!💖🙏

Petula CLARK I PUT YOUR SONGS ON MY FAMILY&FRIENDS STILL PHOTOS FOR YEARS ON VIDEOCLIPS FOR OVER 25YEARS + AND THEY ALL LOVED IT. THANKS FOR THE SONGS YOU SANG.
God what an adorable little girl she was! Couldn’t help but melt at the cuteness at her singing.
She is best female singer of all time saw her in concert it really Good xx
What an absolute icon this woman is. I'm one of her Aussie fans. She is such a humble gorgeous person. Truly England's rose, but the whole world loves her!
I loved it when she mouthed the words: "Not me!" when she was approached and saw the big red book.
One particular memory her song, 'Downtown' evokes for me is my time working in a residential hospital for adults with learning disabilities. I Couldn't Live Without Your Love sends shivers down my spine every time I hear it.
I love looking at times when the world was normal & filled with proper talented stars.
Is,was, and always will be my favorite singer!

Saw Petula in Perth Western Australia just last Wednesday 7 May 2017 - fabulous
I saw them in Blood Brothers and they were spectacular. I miss you David.
I have loved her all my life - the older she gets, the lovelier she is.
I have to agree with you on both statements
Yes me as well 😀
What a star, and she looks lovely in this for around 64 years of age.
Just Wonderful......I knew there was a good reason why i always Loved Petula, ever since i was a small child i just had a connection a feeling about her.... Gosh, I love her! Saw her in concert last year (2013). Man, she was fab!
I remember her when she was a great actress in the war films in b/w and went on to be a great singer.
A must watch again video, loved here since 1949.
Beautiful Woman.😍🥰😘❤️💕
Petula Clark is the 1960's she is beautiful and my childhood crush.
God bless Petula.😍😍😍😘😘😘😙😙😙
Anyone here go awwww when they played the recording of her as a kid singing for the radio? I did. What an adorable little girl she was!
... and I met Shirley Temple in the early 1970's, in Tehran in the Intercontinental Hotel Restaurant. She was on her way to some African country to be Ambassador for the USA.
A very pleasant and smart lady.
The country was 🇬🇭 Ghana. Shirley Temple was an exceptionally bright and capable woman.
It's A Sign of the Times that talented people & their contributions are recognized while they are alive to enjoy their superstardom=congrats Pet!
It is a disgrace that this lovely lady and legend has not been honoured she should be a DAME
not if she keeps perpetuating the Bullshit that Elvis sought a threesome sex act with her and Karen Carpenter.
My sister met her on a flight years ago and said that she was an extremely unpleasant person - I don't care, for me it's just the music.
@@Prolinium how do you know?
No Argument From ME Given That "This Is My Song" is My All-Time FAVORITE Song.
Does she still live in France? Where do she pay her Taxes? That's usually what it boils down too... They asked Lonnie Donegan that question and he gave the correct answer.
Hers was the first concert I ever attended at University ofArizona in the 60s. She was such a dynamo on the stage!
Hard to imagine that she is 85 now in 2018, here she is age 62 in 1996 looking just stunning!
I never knew this existed so thanks for sharing such a genius talent.
Truly lucky and blessed audience to see the show and then the REAL show!
"Bugger the last train, we're staying in a hotel..."

Yes, I love that song and I also bought the record for $1.00 in Canada, I was 14. Thank you for the memory.
Thanks for posting this gem.
Comes across as somebody in showbusiness still who deserves the fame and all the kind words about her charactor . Lovely tribute to watch .

Beautiful face and beautiful voice!
What a treasure she is.
I teared up, with the part of her daughter, expecting a baby. Pet Clark…what a gem.
And that baby, given that this was 25 years ago, is probably all grown up now, maybe with kids of their own...so perhaps she’s a great grandma now.
What a treat to get to watch this!
great singer and lady

Btw, the 'we' Hatch mentions here is the fabulous singer/songwriter Jackie Trent. May she rest in peace now.
And as she wrote herself: "In my heart with every beat, Two Rivers flow; Two Rivers meet".
Thanks for sharing
The most authentic performer of her time - bar none.
Pet Clark and Mary Black. Nothing better.
One classy lady !!!!
Very Good .. Thanks
Петула Кларк-прекрасна,очарователна,възхитителна!
Just wonderful, merci Jean.
she was always a pretty lady, but looks especially attractive here.
Along with Helen Shapiro, a great British singer, who exudes class and seems completely normal.

She was 64 at the3 time and she looked great!
SHE SURE DID
Never heard her cackle like that before. Nice to know such a lady can let herself bust loose once in a while.
I think someone gave her a stiff drink as there was an hour between her being told and getting ready for the show
Love her huge fan sexy still is have a huge crush in her ❤️🎶
3 times for Petula receiving the red book.
I don't like musicals as a rule, but made an exception and went to see Sunset Boulevard as she was in it. I had no idea that This is your life was recorded during the run though.
To those who dont know her pitch and timing is absolutely spot on always.
looks amazing for 62.
trust few. I got carried away in a tidal wave of Petula adoration.
Really love her such talent xx
Great special. I was surprised to see David Tomlinson there and in relatively good health. Now more than ever this makes me wonder why Disney did not have him come back to redub his own voice in "Bedknobs and Broomsticks," as this suggests he could possibly have done it.
She always looks 20 years younger than her age !
Nice timeless song. Don't sleep in the subway.
There was Vera Lynn, Dusty Springfield, Shirley Bassey, Lulu, Mary Hopkins and now Adelle but Great Britains' tops will always be
Pet by far was the most talented 0ne of these ladies To be sogreat for so many years as and actress and singer

Gotta love that they didn't even let her own son say more than three words. He was trying to say something about her cooking "The big ish..." (Issue). What a crappy shame.
