As a machinist and auto enthusiast myself, this video speaks volumes about HRE Wheels production process, and why the wheels cost what they cost. Aside from the CNC machining, which is basically a precision and time sensitive investment, these wheels are almost fully handmade and bespoke. Again, you get what you pay for! Not a boring video at all. Too bad it wasn't longer! LOL. Keep up the good work HRE...
@CIA Defector... Oh, I did. I just didn’t mention it in my comment. He should’ve said turn. He got a pass as he’s obviously not a machinist, but was very knowledgeable with the production process of the wheels.
As a tool maker i back this statement. This video also confirmed the price of these wheels are for a genuine reason and i can buy them with no doubt now
Well, you might be a machinist, but your not a business owner if you think that. I just see profit, profit, profit everywhere in this video. These guys must be making huge amounts of money. Sad thing is that people think that working for companies is a good thing. Its like being a slave, making other people rich. (MSc mechanical engineer, own a machine shop and do custom wheels...)
@@risengdesign what a stupid statement, after almost every USA wheel producer has to use China now to even stay in the black. You don’t think that most wheel producers would not prefer to use local employees instead of outsourcing? The problem is not about too much profit, competition always deals with that, the problem is what China is doing with almost every industry in the USA. Soon there will be zero jobs available, people will be dreaming of what you are calling “slave” work.
@Jal Poz Have you ever seen a Bentley or Rolls Royce being assembled? Look how many automated procedures are involved in the production. Yet those vehicles are considered bespoke hand built luxury vehicles. Machining wheels and casting wheels are two totally different animals. 2 and 3-piece wheels are hand finished and assembled, just like the automobiles I just mentioned.
I'm a Cnc mill machinist in the aerospace industry, and I gotta say, this was a great video... very cool! Very interesting process! Not boring at all! 👍🏼
For a company on lock down with social distance, this vid was excellent. Going through every stage of making their wheels was amazing. Not many companies that I have seen, show an in-depth vid of their products, so I thank you for this Vid. I have seen HRE for many years and seen how they have developed over the years. Stunning wheels.
It's awesome to see how my HRE wheels were made for C217 AMG - thank you! - and having worked with the WB I can highly recommend them as a great source for HRE and a bunch of other great gear
damn what an incredible process! i always knew HRE was the gold standard in forged wheels but I had no clue how much money you had invested. i wish more companies would do this, it's baffles me when i call a company for some basic shit and they tell me 2-3 months lead time...like damn i'm trying to impulse buy car parts don't tell me that!
Love my HRE wheels!!!! Alan, looks like you guys made some major improvements since last time I visited your facility. Say hi to the HRE family for me. Keep up the great work HRE!!!
Just beautiful. This is what Mr Trump is talking about when he says "Make America great again". HRE is doing just that, they are the front line, making America great again, one wheel at a time. Recent events have bruised the image and reputation of American engineering, but HRE are helping to turn the tide. HRE wheels are becoming increasingly popular in Australia and for good reason. They are works of art...functional art. Love the video.
@@RedEye19 Trump is the best President America has had since JFK. The rest of the world knows that. Heck even the Chinese are starting to realise the benefits to them from Trump. Now that I learned how the wheels are made from bare metal to fantastic racing designs are unbelievable, attention to detail and time consuming process, now I feel better paying 4-7k for the set of four, 😃

For the value you can’t beat BC Forge and their style and quality. Another high quality wheel that won’t break your bank account is Work Wheels. Their quality and top notch. Those are the only 3 wheel company I would buy from.
Excellent video!! My next vette will definitely have HRE wheels, since GM decided to put those crappy wheels that bend and crack, on their C7 Vettes! Thanks for the content HRE...
If hasnt been mentioned before, the correct term for the rotational machining of stock material is not lathing but turning. The lathe is the basic machine tool that is used to complete the turning process. I dont know any fitter turner, toolmaker or other professional machinist who would use "lathing" in their vocabulary. Other than that, top notch facility doin the business.

Or, is there an insider dealer magazine that you can purchase that showcases all of the latest new custom wheels? I've always liked checking out the latest wheels from the many manufacturers.

HRE make some of the nicest wheels. The process of removing material in a lathe is called turning not lathing. It drives me crazy when I hear people say I'm going to lathe something that sounds uneducated when talking with a machinist.
