To me, Todd is still THE man. If you listen to his tone in the album "Who Am I" recorded at Rumbo Recorders in LA back in 1986, it's probably one of the best single coil tones you'll ever get...

You know I really do love your guitar tours video. I find that when I'm in a guitar slump and not in the mood to play these videos tours of yours really lifts my mood and makes me want to get back on and play. Been almost two years playing so still young in the game.
Love hearing Todd play. I have heard his JOAT in person and I was instantly and totally Impressed. I use a three Amp rig to achieve my favorite tones. This amp does it all. The only Amp I would buy new. It looks as good as it sounds.

He is great... a true musician. He plays whatever guitar feels good.
Good to hear somebody describing the idea that "whatever works for you, is the right way to go" philosophy: he wasn't so fixated on his guitars that he wouldn't change necks, pickups etc to get the sounds that he wants.

Enjoyable interview, Marty! And I must say a novel design approach to a guitar amp where the EQ/gain is the result of tube socket wiring vs. the typical front panel pot. But, you need to come clean with us viewers/subscribers: that dude ain't Todd Sharp! He's Rick Beato's brother, Dick, who just happened to be in town for his 'Hair Club for Men' follow-up appointment and to enter the 'Elephant Man' look-alike contest! (Is that where you bumped into each other? ;-) Poor guy...but he sure can pick-a-noodle a guitar! And so can you!
I own the Todd Sharp JOATY 20RT This is my main amp now. Imagine a Dr Z MAZ or Matchless C 30 only with more body and feel and over all fuller/Thicker sounding a FEEL !

Love the sound of that amp. Wish I could afford one, alas I am a poor college student and his stuff on reverb is going for several times what my guitar is worth. Still, nice to be able to hear such a nice amp.

One thing you can take away from this is don't be afraid to to tweak and experiment with a guitar to YOUR liking, just because it says Gibson, Les Paul, Fender or PRS doesn't mean it's a perfect guitar for you. As players the majority of us are always chasing the Tone whether it's our own or copying someone else's with pedals and amps but very few will make serious changes to our guitars. All you have to is look at some of the best players of all time EVH, SRV, Hendrix, Slash and Page to name a few and they all have one thing in common, their guitars were tweaked and tailor fitted to their needs and playing style. Oh and BTW Marty your little jam at the end of this video is FREAKING SWEET!!!

The original pickups on that 59 are probably just weak because alnico magnets lose charge over time. They could be remagnetized and get the original power back.

I live in Nashville, and one of my amps is in Todd's shop right now! When I took it in, I didn't even know his history in the music business. So cool to hear his story. Great shop with quick turnaround and reasonable prices.

Can anyone help me out. I have a old Yamaha G100 212 ii solid state amp and it has a 3 way power switch. I don't have the manual and can't seem to find out what the use of the 3 way power switch is. Anyone know or have any ideas?
