The genre of my music is based on pop and sub-genres are country pop, movie soundtrack and singer-songwriter. I started to sing movie soundtracks when I was a child. I’m a huge fan of Disney movies so I can sing most of the famous Disney songs such as ‘Part of Your World’, ‘Let It Go’, ‘Beauty and the Beast’, ‘A Whole New World’ and so on. I had private lessons with my brother singing songs from Disney when I was 9 to 10. Then as time went by, I started to sing songs from movie soundtracks such as ‘City of Stars’, ‘Lost Stars’, ‘Shallow’, etc. I feel most comfortable when I sing those songs which helps me feel the power of the song and my true emotions. Second, I feel comfortable with singing singer-songwriter/Indie style because I also have a couple of songs that I wrote on my own. I feel relaxed since it is a song that I wrote for myself, perfectly fit for my vocal range. Those originals can also help me to show my personality while singing. It sounds natural because it’s also written with my own story. I usually write lyrics based on my experience, which makes it easier to focus on singing. When I do covers, I try to find a song that matches my experience so I can relate to the lyrics. While singing those, I don’t need to use too much belting chest voice but use natural speaking voice. I enjoy singing these Indie styles while playing piano which also helps me to express feelings. Lastly, I enjoy singing country pop because Taylor Swift has been my role model since I was determined to become a singer-songwriter. I fell in love with her early albums like ‘Fearless’ and ‘Speak Now’. I still have recordings of me singing those songs on a laptop recorder when I was 13. Then I got into Lady GaGa’s songs such as ‘Always Remember Us This Way’ and ‘Shallow’ which makes me feel explosive feelings whenever I listen or sing them. I like the style Lady GaGa sings with piano. However, I think country pop matches me because it is not 100% country. Although my genre is based on pop, I also have interest in singing R&B and rock style. For example, I enjoy singing ‘When I Was Your Man’ which is a mixture of pop and R&B/Soul. I would love to try singing rock style with a band if it’s not too metal.
