There is indeed a significant difference between English and Chinese. Chinese characters originated from pictograms, which are simplified pictures. As a result, each Chinese character carries its own meaning. This allows Chinese speakers to combine different characters to express a variety of meanings, much like selecting lottery numbers. For example, "person" is represented by "人," "everyone" by "人人," "adult" by "大人," and "Congress" by "人大." By simply changing the combinations of characters, Chinese can convey different meanings within a limited set of symbols. In contrast, English is a phonetic language, where different words are used to express different meanings. As a result, the number of English words far exceeds that of Chinese. To be fluent in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in Chinese, one only needs to master around 3,000 characters. In English, however, at least 20,000 words are required for fluency. A high school graduate, for example, needs to know over 20,000 English words to graduate. What’s more challenging is that the expressions in Chinese and English often don’t directly translate. Many times, even if you know every individual word in an English sentence, the full meaning may still be unclear. For example, the phrase "Cap that if you can" might be confusing, as its meaning isn't immediately apparent from the words alone.
莉雅,你真棒!👍👍👍😂😂😂This really reinforced me, I have been using this method for about 8 years to learn English though. So happy to see the similar technique work. You are literally a sincere and best teacher!🎉🎉🎉😂😂😂
You are a brave learner who challenges yourself to spend more time thoroughly understanding sentences. No pain, no gain-great job! The method you suggested left a strong impression on me, but I’ve developed a bad habit of frequently checking the dictionary. What’s worse, I don’t have enough free time for in-depth understanding.
As an Indian i really love your videos. My mother language is Bengali and national language is Hindi. I also want to learn Chinese as a native speaker.
It is very interesting contents for me! that's great method! today I bought new notebook for learning english. hh. and i also very interested in why you choose learning chinese?
I often skip the first and second steps and go straight to the third: checking a dictionary. My English level is at an intermediate stage, but I find it challenging to guess the meaning of words based on my limited knowledge.
比较简单而且常见的单词和表达我不用想太多,可以自然说出来,但还是有些情况,如果想表达我的想法或者说想说更technical的一些东西那我还是要想一想 还是要找单词和思考语法 but learning any language is a long journey 就像我视频里面说的,I've only just started to become a little bit fluent in Chinese recently. everything comes with time!

維吾爾女士您好!您英語說得不錯哦!👍
this sharing is really helpful! Thank you!
Chinese is easy to speak and understand verbally, but learning to read and write is challenging.

看这个视频的时候,听到莉雅老师说到nuance,马上去查了一下nuance的意思。我是个急性子,遇到新单词,必须马上知道它的意思。

莉亚老师, 你好。一直认为你时中美混血, 没想到中文是自己学的,讲得这麽好。
可以讲一下元音(Vowel)吗? 尤其是 r+vowel. For instance, run vs wrong, rain, apple etc.
Your voice is so beautiful

hello from Vietnam
