In my opinion, Eva 3.33 is great because of how little of the 14-year gap it explains, it helps us to understand Shinji's perspective; having woken up after 14 years with no knowledge of any events in those 14 years, surrounded by people who either despise or fear him for something he doesn't remember, who is so desperate for someone he can turn to that he chooses to go with rei despite being told she isn't the rei he knew and the NERV is evil. Eva 3.33 does a great job at highlighting Shinji's constant isolation and plus, Kaworu's death scene was emotional af and that's why I think it's good.

i finally decided to watch all of Evangelion from the original series to the movies and its an amazing ride so far. i feel so bad for the hardcore fans that had to wait 8 years for 3.0+1.0 in 2020. I only have to wait 2 years.. but it's still painful by how amazing the story is.

Misato had basically disowned him, out of the anger and pain of what he had wrought, and her own guilt for egging him on at the moment everything went to hell. Toji, Kensuke, and Hikari were long dead, killed in 3rd Impact, or the ensuing Evangelic purge. Yui had already been gone for years before it all went down, and Gendo was being...well, Gendo. Kaworu was the only one willing to care for him, to try and make him happy, and to find a way to help him fix things. His sacrifice was his last effort to give Shinji a chance. A chance to find redemption for what he had done. A chance to mend the bonds he once had with Asuka and Misato. A chance to try and truly save Rei from her fate, the right way. A chance to create his own happiness in the world, to find love and peace at last.

Sam Yung and Yabisi's rendition is even emotion-striking. I remember being in low spirits one night and it was about a week that I had downloaded the song but had yet to listen to. When I first did, I couldn't quit crying like a kid. It was liberating to all the frustration and loneliness I was feeling and subsequently fell asleep.
Watching Asuka, Shinji, and Rei walk into the distance on the red sand was an amazing feeling to watch ngl, but i couldn’t help but think of Kaworu playing the piano at the beginning of the song when while they did.. Really sad that he had to die.. :(
At the end of 3.33, I couldn't help but be moved by this song. It filled in the somber mood and made me yearn for something warm. I think at the end of 3.33 Shinji was looking for something safe. Without Rei, Kaworu, Misato, and especially the Asuka he knew, it felt lonely. Brilliant work for the end of 3.33.

Evangelion is not just about the entire plot and characters but the UNIQUENESS it boasts within the meaning of the story whether it's the series or movies. I got very heavy deep emotions about it. Pains me more than a breakup esp. when Shinji tried to save Ayanami Rei from Zeruel. This Animé is out of this world. Anno is a genius!

Evangelion will always be a part of my childhood, the first steps into the anime/manga world and these characters are deeply rooted in my life. Love them all so much and this movie really sort of got to me at the end.
1.11 was shit... zero creativity, it was just the first 6 episodes of the show but summarized. 3.33 was like anal sex, it was painful and unpleasant at first, but by the end you were finally being able to take it and enjoy it.

Evangelion 3.33 was tough to swallow when it started. It was like "dude, what the fuck! Hideaki Anno, you just ruined the EVA universe as we know it" but by the end of the film we've experienced something quite depressing, we feel alone, and then it ends feeling like things might get better. Most of the times in Eva you have Shinji feeling alone, here you have him, not just feeling, but in fact completely alone and lost, and it's heartbreaking.
Not to mention Misato, who was like his supportive older sister who would constantly would pull him from the abyss of his lack of motivation and depression, now, seems to have nothing but contempt for him.
Hideaki Anno is chronic major depression patient. When he created the franchise for the first time, we also raged with the last 5 episode. Because of that they make end of Evangelion.(which is still not explain anything whatsoever) And remake... the fuckin remake. It is disturbing on so many levels but I couldn't say that he ruined it. in the end, he is the one who started it but still.... I know the feeling. Anyway beside of the full metal alchemist: brotherhood, it is still the best anime in the all parallel universe.
I enjoyed 1.0 and 2.0, but 3 has introduced too much for 3+1 (as if we're ever getting it anyway) to look into all of these characters, which worries me.
I'm not sure how I yet feel about the themes of the movies just because they're not yet finished, but watching it anyway. It feels like less of a psychological horror show due to a lot of the characterization cut out, but the stuff they kept in from the original was well animated in comparison with much better musical aide to fit the themes. The segments with Sahaquiel and Ramiel were so much better imo. I think the perspective of 3.33 compared to the regular show+EoE is to show a prolonged view of Shinji's hell where he failed to grow up. He did something ultimately selfish at the end of 2.22, encouraged by Misato. Because of that, he got jumped into a future without him where all the feelings of those around him turned blacker with loathing towards him and their own self-hatred as time progressed. For that I'm thinking it might turn out pretty dark.
Thinking about it, Rebuild seems like a massive loss of hope chronologically. Just look at the titles. 1.0: You Are (Not) Alone. Showing that Shinji is not alone in the fight as he slowly grows towards Rei. 2.0: You Can (Not) Advance. Shinji just trying to get through this ritual pain of his, all the while Rei and Asuka, well, exist. and that affects him quite a bit. 3.0: You Can (Not) Redo. Shinji wakes up to this devastated red lifeless world. Everyone hates him and nobody will give him answers. The few answers he does get crush him. He wants nothing more than to redo and "atone for his sin," as Kaworu says.

First time I saw this while Eva series I was a struggling teenager and I ended fucked up. Years later as an adult, after living some and reading a bit of western philosophy, I’ve watched the series and movies over and over again. After all these years I’m still getting fucked up, but now in a beautiful understanding way... You may love or hate Eva, however, it is undeniably a master piece that captures so much about human’s struggles. My 2 cents
This might not be relevant to the video, but I feel like the main difference between the original and rebuilds is that the original is more of a psychological drama while the rebuilds are an action drama
Every song she sings keeps getting better and better. The first I heard was Simple and Clean, and it was wonderful, but Utada just never stopped singing more and more incredible songs.

I feel like I’m one of the few people that actually liked 3.0, sure it doesn’t make a lot of sense most of the time but I’m personally glad that it tried something different. It’s actually my favorite Rebuild movie out of all of them. That may change when I finally get to see 3.0+1.0 which will hopefully be soon.

I’d say they’ve probably still have some sort of use for him or else why would they even keep him alive if they didn’t trust him so much after near third impact. But the way Asuka talks to Shinji like normal while taking him out of the plug could show that she does still care for Shinji

@@killer3293 If he was left behind then Rei would have taken him back to NERV but instead Asuka came back so that events wouldn't repeat over and over again. Rei tags along so that Shinji doesn't get killed or anything but doesn't outright take him away from Asuka since maybe she is kind of like the old Rei waiting and ignoring her orders in an effort to find herself or maybe from a logical point of view it would be more beneficial for them all to survive in the red desert if they worked together. Obviously Asuka doesn't beat the crap out of Shinji which means she knows or acknowledges his pain and pity's him since it is 14 years in the future it just means that she is more mature than Shinji and just treats him like how an adult would to a brat or ignorant child as in the movie she moves from the childish statement of calling him stupid to the adult statement of calling him a brat. Maybe she hasn't matured that much as anyone stuck in the body of a 14 year old would probably go crazy and would probably be single and follow a similar route to Asuka from NGE with the whole im grown up but still a child feel. Which is ironic as the movies title You Can (Not) Redo could also be interpreted as You Can (Not) Change like in the sense you cant change the world and make it right or that people will always fall back to their roots no matter how many times you try to change them. This just hints to a theory that the rebuilds are a sequel to the show and EOE, being a world reset as scenes do change and characters are dulled out at the beginning of 1.0 and 2.0 but fall back to their roots in 3.0 signifying either lack of character development or someones poor efforts of changing fate and reality when given the power to reset the world and making things worse for everyone. Sorry for the ramble but thats my take on the ending of 3.0 and how 4.0 might end in a either a world reset or just them facing the fact that the world wont change unless you learn to accept yourself and change yourself first before thinking of changing the world.
I think she has some feelings left for shinji. When she confronted him about not trying to save her and left, she was most likely hoping to get a reaction out of him, that he would follow her and tell her to wait or something like that. When she realised he wouldnt, she turned around to grab him. If she really doesn't care about him anymore, she would've left him to rot.
I like the moments of calm in this series--the soft, surreal melancholy, in contrast to the high-energy battle scenes. But... I suppose you can't have one without the other, huh?
Even the closing songs mimic the rebuild project. The first is somewhat reminiscent of "Cruel Angel's Thesis," but more modern and otherwise noticeably different. The second is the same song as the first, but again different in rather significant ways. The third is a pronounced, dramatic break from what came before. Eva never ceases to impress me, and will always hold the dearest place in my heart.

Actually, Asuka mentions the curse of the evangelions. She says it after Shinji asks why she still lookes the same. Most likely meaning they can never age due to being in the evangelions

The movie reflects on shinji's struggle to grow up (mentally), so keeping him as a teenager works, and so, they keep all the pilots the same way since they are his peers. Why the skip then? probably just to keep the futuristic landscape or Eva, since a 14 year time skip wasnt really needed, 3 or 4 months or Shinji inside 01 would have benn enough for everything that happened in the middle.

Evangelion 3.33 was tough to swallow when it started. It was like "dude, what the fuck! Hideaki Anno, you just ruined the EVA universe as we know it" but by the end of the film we've experienced something quite depressing, we feel alone, and then it ends feeling like things might get better. Most of the times in Eva you have Shinji feeling alone, here you have him, not just feeling, but in fact completely alone and lost, and it's heartbreaking.
Not to mention Misato, who was like his supportive older sister who would constantly would pull him from the abyss of his lack of motivation and depression, now, seems to have nothing but contempt for him.
Hideaki Anno is chronic major depression patient. When he created the franchise for the first time, we also raged with the last 5 episode. Because of that they make end of Evangelion.(which is still not explain anything whatsoever)
And remake... the fuckin remake. It is disturbing on so many levels but I couldn't say that he ruined it. in the end, he is the one who started it but still.... I know the feeling. Anyway beside of the full metal alchemist: brotherhood, it is still the best anime in the all parallel universe.
I enjoyed 1.0 and 2.0, but 3 has introduced too much for 3+1 (as if we're ever getting it anyway) to look into all of these characters, which worries me.
I'm not sure how I yet feel about the themes of the movies just because they're not yet finished, but watching it anyway. It feels like less of a psychological horror show due to a lot of the characterization cut out, but the stuff they kept in from the original was well animated in comparison with much better musical aide to fit the themes. The segments with Sahaquiel and Ramiel were so much better imo.
I think the perspective of 3.33 compared to the regular show+EoE is to show a prolonged view of Shinji's hell where he failed to grow up. He did something ultimately selfish at the end of 2.22, encouraged by Misato. Because of that, he got jumped into a future without him where all the feelings of those around him turned blacker with loathing towards him and their own self-hatred as time progressed. For that I'm thinking it might turn out pretty dark.
to begin with, the EVA universe as we know it in the TV series is pretty shit imho...
Thinking about it, Rebuild seems like a massive loss of hope chronologically. Just look at the titles. 1.0: You Are (Not) Alone. Showing that Shinji is not alone in the fight as he slowly grows towards Rei. 2.0: You Can (Not) Advance. Shinji just trying to get through this ritual pain of his, all the while Rei and Asuka, well, exist. and that affects him quite a bit. 3.0: You Can (Not) Redo. Shinji wakes up to this devastated red lifeless world. Everyone hates him and nobody will give him answers. The few answers he does get crush him. He wants nothing more than to redo and "atone for his sin," as Kaworu says.
This song is hauntingly somber...but I can't stop listening to it

Let's just hope for Shinji , Rei , Mari , Misato, kaworu and Asuka to have a happy ending

First time I saw this while Eva series I was a struggling teenager and I ended fucked up. Years later as an adult, after living some and reading a bit of western philosophy, I’ve watched the series and movies over and over again. After all these years I’m still getting fucked up, but now in a beautiful understanding way... You may love or hate Eva, however, it is undeniably a master piece that captures so much about human’s struggles. My 2 cents

I feel like I’m one of the few people that actually liked 3.0, sure it doesn’t make a lot of sense most of the time but I’m personally glad that it tried something different. It’s actually my favorite Rebuild movie out of all of them. That may change when I finally get to see 3.0+1.0 which will hopefully be soon.

Am I the only one that thinks that Asuka still has it for Shinji after the ending of 3.0? Why else would she even care to get him out of the plug?
I’d say they’ve probably still have some sort of use for him or else why would they even keep him alive if they didn’t trust him so much after near third impact.
But the way Asuka talks to Shinji like normal while taking him out of the plug could show that she does still care for Shinji

@@killer3293 If he was left behind then Rei would have taken him back to NERV but instead Asuka came back so that events wouldn't repeat over and over again. Rei tags along so that Shinji doesn't get killed or anything but doesn't outright take him away from Asuka since maybe she is kind of like the old Rei waiting and ignoring her orders in an effort to find herself or maybe from a logical point of view it would be more beneficial for them all to survive in the red desert if they worked together. Obviously Asuka doesn't beat the crap out of Shinji which means she knows or acknowledges his pain and pity's him since it is 14 years in the future it just means that she is more mature than Shinji and just treats him like how an adult would to a brat or ignorant child as in the movie she moves from the childish statement of calling him stupid to the adult statement of calling him a brat. Maybe she hasn't matured that much as anyone stuck in the body of a 14 year old would probably go crazy and would probably be single and follow a similar route to Asuka from NGE with the whole im grown up but still a child feel. Which is ironic as the movies title You Can (Not) Redo could also be interpreted as You Can (Not) Change like in the sense you cant change the world and make it right or that people will always fall back to their roots no matter how many times you try to change them. This just hints to a theory that the rebuilds are a sequel to the show and EOE, being a world reset as scenes do change and characters are dulled out at the beginning of 1.0 and 2.0 but fall back to their roots in 3.0 signifying either lack of character development or someones poor efforts of changing fate and reality when given the power to reset the world and making things worse for everyone.
Sorry for the ramble but thats my take on the ending of 3.0 and how 4.0 might end in a either a world reset or just them facing the fact that the world wont change unless you learn to accept yourself and change yourself first before thinking of changing the world.
I think she has some feelings left for shinji. When she confronted him about not trying to save her and left, she was most likely hoping to get a reaction out of him, that he would follow her and tell her to wait or something like that.
When she realised he wouldnt, she turned around to grab him. If she really doesn't care about him anymore, she would've left him to rot.
I like the moments of calm in this series--the soft, surreal melancholy, in contrast to the high-energy battle scenes. But... I suppose you can't have one without the other, huh?

Even the closing songs mimic the rebuild project. The first is somewhat reminiscent of "Cruel Angel's Thesis," but more modern and otherwise noticeably different. The second is the same song as the first, but again different in rather significant ways. The third is a pronounced, dramatic break from what came before.
Eva never ceases to impress me, and will always hold the dearest place in my heart.

Actually, Asuka mentions the curse of the evangelions. She says it after Shinji asks why she still lookes the same. Most likely meaning they can never age due to being in the evangelions

The movie reflects on shinji's struggle to grow up (mentally), so keeping him as a teenager works, and so, they keep all the pilots the same way since they are his peers. Why the skip then? probably just to keep the futuristic landscape or Eva, since a 14 year time skip wasnt really needed, 3 or 4 months or Shinji inside 01 would have benn enough for everything that happened in the middle.
Check out the lyrics to this song. It basically sums up how Shinji must be feeling about knowing that OG Rei is dead and having just watched Kaworu sacrifice himself.
