I think its more about cherishing nature and subsequently life (or "being alive") which coincides with celebrating your connections with other people.
Slight difference in its meaning, but it still relates to eva obviously since the point of instrumentality was to get rid of just that; no individuality, no humanity, no life or nature to cherish and celebrate

My high school played Beethovens 9th and I was with the 2nd Violins, 2nd desk. I believe we managed to play this song about a few beats slower than the original tempo. The song itself is a work of art and was quite the endurance of a song to play.
But boy, when we finished it, it is truly magnificent.

I mean in Evangelion, it works even better, because the lyrics talk about all of mankind coming together as brothers (figuratively) under the wings of a godly deity. Which is basically the entirety of End of Eva.
I mean Ode to Joy is that Epic song. A Clockwork Orange has played it, Die Hard has played it, and even Gunslinger Girl has played it.

Many music historians consider it to be the greatest composition of all time for a reason. :) I highly recommend to listen to its entirety, makes the 4. movement even more enjoyable.

Cause it isn't universally whatsoever. This version of Ode to Joy is by far the best 3.33 has to offer. Outside of it, both 1.0 and 2.0 had better soundtrack overall. 2.0 alone is swimming in great tracks.

Tbh the ending of the original series actually made me grow out of a mild depression i was having and made me learn about the importance of just growing up, having a grip on your life and not letting the value that others have placed on me define me, then i noticed how mf badass the eva's where and made me forget about everything i learned. Truly the work of a genious.

Perhaps the craziest thing is, During the scene that the first picture is of, right as we get a glimpse into the Minus Space, we see the Golgotha Object, alongside what I can only presume to be at it's center, a dark star of sorts. Something that could only exist in such a place anyways. Honestly a rather... interesting sort of thing to see. It's also the first sighting of the object in the entire series before we get to see it at the middle~ish/end~ish portion of the 4th movie when Gendo and Shinji encounter it after Shinji reactivates Unit 1 alongside repairing it's limbs.
