Awesome info Jason! Just getting to rebuilding popouts on our '65 Beetle, this helped a ton. Thanks!!
You're welcome! Thanks for watching!
Great job man.
Thanks!
Thanks!
Great tips dude, I’ll be saving this video for future reference!
Thanks! It seems a lot of folks are scared of these for some reason. Once you know how it's not too bad.
For some reason you make it look easy. I remember doing that on my last bug. I think my fingers still hurts from doing all that. I have an old set for my current bug, I was thinking it would be easier to just buy a new set to start with. Maybe I'll give it a shot on replacing the seals and cleaning up my old set.
The key is to get the old crusty rubber out, use a screwdriver to gently straighten out the channel, clean it really good, and warm up the new seals. Wolfsburg west has nice soft rubber that's easy to work with. Baby powder also helps without making everything slippery. Good luck, and have fun!
iNspired! Time for a Safari iN the Bottomlands of Our Bay Window Bus.
Just ordered new rubber for my bay window. This may be helpful . Thanks.
Thanks for watching!
Good info. Was hoping to see how the rubber fit with it having the “rolled” of the rubber towards the body. OG seals were curved the opposite way and seem to fit well. Not sure how the aftermarket fits.
They fit nice and tight, with a more flat profile when closed. When I do them with the "C" facing out they seem to get pulled in a bit. I'll post a pic in a bit.
@@OldVolksTV thanks I am curious to see that.
Good stuff... Much appreciated!
Thanks for watching!
Good project to do indoors. It’s way too hot out right now
You ain't lying! 🥵
GREAT video Jason, THANK YOU!!! (I totally would’ve cut it, or quit lol)
Haha. They're not so bad once you know the tricks.
With those swing out arms, you could use the windows as airbrakes
Haha. With the giant motor that's going in this car I might need to 🤣
