Raducanu played pretty well in the first two sets, but run out of steam in the third. Still, it's positive that she was able to be competitive against a quality opponent.
Svitolina's first tournament back after 4 months off.
@@huzceryeah svitolina played really bad
Raducanu's first after 8/9 months and an injury I believe @@huzcer

Incredibly high-quality match the first two sets. Surprised at Emma's level after being out so long. She'd have beaten most players outside the top 15 quite easily playing such a high level. Svitolina is heading towards the top 5 again no doubt.
Emma is nowhere close to Top15 she doesn’t even have the fitness. Her strapping is already concerning in the 2nd match of her year, considering what she had was a wrist operation not her leg.
@@endogenetic Svitolina said it's one of highest level matches she's ever been involved in.
@@spurs7151 6-1 in the final set speaks as to the quality of the match alright. one for the history books.
@@spurs7151 she had to say it given the score
@@endogenetic you obviously didn't watch the match and have just come here to troll. The quality was incredible. Winner after winner from both players. Very few easy points win by either player.
Nearly 3 hours of an enthralling match with both playing their part - at the end,it looked like the lack of match play finally caught up with Emma. I hope that Elina goes all the way and takes this tournament out.
First tournament for Svitolina in 4 months too after an injury and only after coming back to the tour last April from more than a year off and having a child.
@huzcer But Raducanu has still had hugely less matches in the last year lol - why are trying so hard to spread hate with extremely poor arguments 😂
@@stephenbrown2512 Raducanu has been back training since August. Svitolina went off the tour in September. You build fitness in training, not in matches. Anyone with even a cursory knowledge of professional sport knows that.... The excuses are endless...
@@stephenbrown2512
29 year old coming back from maternity leave and a 4 month injury vs a 21 year old.
What's hateful is your horrible English.
@@huzcer Not the same as playing matches. You need more than fitness to win.
Honestly Elina deserves an award! What a comeback! She's a real fighter! I'm 100% proud of her
Despite losing Emma has shown a good game and high fighting spirit. Well done Emma!
Congratulations to Elina Svitolina for her victory.
Well done for losing?
not really. she was up 5-2 in the first and serving for the set and then had to go to a tie break. Had a number of chances to take control at 4-3 up love-30 and couldn't close. Then just tired out in the 3rd. Just showing the same ability before her time off.
@@OedipusSimplexyes, the phenom lost to a maternity mom.

Elina played amazing tennis, so strong mentally ❤❤❤

I knew that Elina is going to make a comeback. Congratulations to both players 👏.
WOW, JUST WOW. You just posted an hour ago that you thought Emma "should have won" on a thread under Gauffs match. YET on here you say you "KNEW" Svitolina would comeback?? You are a confused piece of work looking for attention and likes. Grow up...
Loving that Gael is always on the sides during Elina's games.
Quality match from both! Very encouraging signs from Emma so early in the comeback. Here for it😊
Elina's marriage to Gael has obviously been a positive push to her tennis. Her serve and forehand has improved so much and she's become a more offensive player than before. You can clearly see Gael's influence on her game. It might not be a stretch to say that she's capable of winning a grandslam the way her game is developing. Hope she does win one. She deserves that accomplishment.
I hope so too! She is always so fun to watch.
That would be a great feel good story for tennis. After so many years of almost getting to the very top, I agree it would be nice to see her get a GS.
Elina leg movement looks strange at times. Like leg weakness. Reminds me of movement from Seles, or even Davenport.
They practice together and he's a top 20 player so definitely boosted her game. Do you think she can ever win a Grand Slam in her career?
You gotta love Elina. Tremendous fighter on the court, never gives up. Hope she plays Coco for the title.
emma played fantastic today but svitolina was on another level! amazing fight from both, like it was a final.
How is 6-1 in the final set an "amazing fight"?
@@huzceroh ah the phenom was injured. If she didn’t, then she would go straight to the final without Covid’s assistance
1st two sets were must-watch tennis.
Bravo Elina🔥🔥🔥🇺🇦
Emma is for sure amazing as well
I’ve been one of Emma’s biggest critics commenting that she has a knack of returning the shots directly to her opponents. But Emma totally changed my views of what she can possibly be capable of. There’s a lot of positives despite the loss.
She still does that. She was better this match but it costed her some important points in the first and second set. She loves to try and hit behind her opponents but everyone is used to her game
Now and knows it’s coming.
Agreed, she used to hit the ball right back to her opponent, now she’s mixing it up.
@@BranSay there are really powerful players out there and their games center around power. If emma decided to go down that path of a power game, it won’t bode well for her.
It was like a final, not 1/8, fantastic match.
Definitely not a final Raducanu hasn't been in a final of any tournament since 2021.
@@huzcer To be fair she hasn't been in a tournament in 9 months
@@iansmirna5183 Svitolina hasn't played a match in 4 months after a more recent injury than Raducanu and only came back to the tour in April after more than a year off for having a child! I think that trumps Raducanu to be honest.
@@huzcer*Yep, that DEFINITELY "trump" Raducanu. Svitolina is for real.*
surface and similar style of other player suited her but tennis is secondary to Raducannu, as she aims to become a delicate wealthy socialite. Her entitled attitude prohibits her from enduring grind of WTA tour.
Contrast her attitude against Pegula who is actually a billionaire.
Congrats Elina best of the best❤️💯🔝 beautiful let's go ✊💪👍🔥🙏🎾🇺🇦
Though emma likely won’t win titles or slams this point on, it’s ok to say she’s a talented model that happens to play tennis and is pretty darn good at it. She has a U.S. open slam to her name something Kournikova was a far reach from so Emma can live the dream til she decides to retire. 💯 respect

@@sciencekid7565 Hey science boy. I see you are still a troll. Piece of crap.
Radacanu will be just ine: All she needs is match fitness and time because she has all the shots required to be a champion.she could make life easier by making her serve more potent all around.
Has been the argument since she won that US open. But, that time is yet to come.
And need to wrap the other leg, too. Oh ah and prepare for new excuses
Both Similar in terms of ability but Svitolinas mentality is so much better, congrats on the win
Not really. Emma showed great mental strength coming back after losing a 5-2 lead to win the TB in the first, and coming back after both breaks in the 2nd. She just ran out of gas. Svitty is much more battle hardened, Emma needs more physical and match fitness, but she is mentally very strong.
Emma Raducanu is a fantastic tennis player, staying fit and having more game time will make a huge difference with her. Svitolina showed why she has ruffled feathers at the top before, channeling her inner top tier. Emma needs fitness. Longer matches will only help her
Wow Mammy on a FIRE!!!!❤️

I set my Alarm for 5:30am this mornin' but I slept through it! Raducanu back from long term injury loses 2-1 in Sets to No.2 seed Svitalina sounds like it could be the start of a great comeback for the former US Open Winner🎾🔥
No she's injured yet again.
No quite so. It will never happen. She clearly settled for what she's already won. End of career aproaching quickly
I love them both..❤
They both looked really good. Both have potential for good runs in Australia. Haven't seen Emma hit that well and fight that hard in a long while and Elena is always a fantastic fighter beating two GS champions in back to back rounds. ❤❤❤
I suspect Svitolina didn't expect this, she thought this match was what Caroline would produce in R1 and not Emma!😂 but equally I am really surprised how Svitolina still hasn't got a Slam title to her name yet and she's almost 30.
@@eyeofthetiger6002 It was her old game - she had a game similar to Halep or Kerber without the big weapon to end points - with her new game (more similar to Coco or Wozniaki) I think she has the chance to sneak out one - I'm just not sure which one it'll be
@@ivanhall6482 alas she may have left it too late because there are now just too many obstacles in her way,not least trying to beat Coco again for starters, because if Svitolina can improve so can Coco! @huzcer did Emma personally hurt you? You've made the same comment about ten times on this one video. It's her first tournament back after surgeries on both wrists and her ankle -- she played well, regardless of how long Svitolina has been out for.
nice highlights WTA. It's nice that you stopped showing break points and focused on good rallies
Svitolina is a fighter ...
Congrats to Elina on the thrilling victory. Emma is looking quite good here for being out almost a year. She's correct in saying she's a better tennis player now than before the injury. Good luck Elina and keep it up, Emma.
Bravo Elina🔥🔥🔥🇺🇦
Еlina played fantastic today. 🇺🇦♥️👍💛💙🥰
Elina plays way better now as a mother
Agreed. Hope Naomi follows suit.
Wow! That was amazing to watch!
Good battle. This year is going to be very competitive in women's tennis.
Nice match there from both ladies.
Glad to see the return of the world class BH, was afraid she'd abandoned them for the slice.
Great match from both - Elina from 4 months out since the US Open and Emma 8 months since double wrist + ankle surgery. Level was pretty astonishing from both considering those circumstances. Also great to see Svitolina commit to aggressive game style since she has come back.
A real shame the scheduling means Bouzkova has had over 30 hours more rest before their match-up tonight; and, to be frank, she had a virtual walkover against Anisimova. Would be shocked if Elina was able to back it up and beat her with such a glaring disadvantage in terms of turnaround between matches.
Great battle love both players ❤
Elina what a player hopefully she plays Coco Gough in the Oz open ❤❤❤❤❤
Молодец Элина в хорошей форме как женщина и как теннисистка!
Elina has gotten really good !! Much improved. I like her patented forehand swing.
Good game emma nothing to lose after surgery. Stay positive and healthy.
Svitolina is too tough mentally for Raducanu. That was the difference in the match. A lesser opponent would have lost to Raducanu, she played well.
But Svitolina is a step up in class, she's a street fighter. If she is fully engaged then it has to be one of the top 4 or 5 who takes her out. I still think that Svitolina still has a good shot at a major.
Okay she's on her way to comeback. I think she needs matchs like this, big intensity, but she got the spirit ! Come on Radu
The most important thing for Radacanu is she plays regularly and doesn't get injured. Even losses are better than nothing at all.
Most faked injuries in tennis history
@@sciencekid7565 Apparently a whole hospital wing is to be named after Ridiculanu. After all she spends most of her career in there.
A very nice tennis match!🎾🏆
Way to go Elina! Show them how it’s done!!!
It would help Emma if she could anticipate her opponents return and be ready for the next shot rather than react to a cross court. Also she needs a much more powerful serve and volley to beat her opponents mentally.. She needs to start winning points on serves.
Her returns and her volley’s were pretty solid in this match, I agree about the serve though. She’s 5’9 so she should be able to hit a strong serve.
She needs to improve her serve on the Ad side especially, missed most of them all night, and needs a big kick serve to the BH as a 2nd serve like Sabalenka's.
If Emma doesn’t improve her Stamina and her Service game soon, at most, she will reach round 2 of any major tournament.
People like Sabalenka, Garcia will blast past her just based on pure power. I am not even bringing in Swiatek or Gauff in play.
I think she needs to play a lot more matches to again reach a competitive level ..
@@viralmody9772 That’s an ignorant statement. But we’ll have to wait and see what happens

All I am saying is that at present with the given circumstances Emma does not have a good chance. I am just estimating based on data available.
Btw : i am a huge Emma Fan myself.
Good to see Radacanu back and playing well.
At 5-2 up in the first set she needed to close the set out.
Instead it took her four more games and a tie break.
The extra energy expended cost her in the third set when she had nothing left in the tank.
In top level sport these things matter.
Agreed. I think more match sharpness will help with her focus and close out these sets.
Let's go Svitolina!
Deux magnifiques joueuses❤❤❤
Two matches into the 2024 season, Raducanu already needed to heavily wrap her left thigh. Hopefully this is not yet another injury hampered year for Raducanu.
The problem for Emma is stamina, just like Ivanovic. She's brilliant ball striker possesses natural talent and a class but isn't gritty and tenacious enough. I don't see her doing much damage to WTA circuit.
She'll be injured again in a month
She IS very much like Ivanovic, not sure if her achievement will surpass Anna's though
She gotta build that fitness so she can put grit and tenacity to work.

After seeing this match I am convinced that Ridiculanu's future is in stand up comedy. Let's face it. Her constant excuses, losses and plummeting rankings have been a source of mirth and laughter for years.

A major congrats to Svitolina! Regarding Raducanu, first tournament back after an extended layoff and she's ALREADY requiring tape? Injury or precautionary? Either way, it's looking to be another short season (or long season, however you choose to look at it) for Raducanu.

Emma played amazing for someone who just returned from 8 months out with 3 surgeries! Even Svitolina said this was the 2nd best match she's ever played, comparable to her QF match at WB where she beat Swiatek in 3. The level of tennis Emma displayed in the run up to 5-1 in the first set was grand slam winning quality, firing accurate DTL shots off both wings and absolutely flawless.
