The fact was she won the US Open as a pretty inexperienced Junior in the midst of COVID. She also didn’t drop a set and had made it to quite far into Wimbledon the same year. Some missteps and injuries rocked her back, including awful decisions on coaches. Now she is with a coach who coached her when she was young and actually knows her, she is doing much better. Good luck to her.

Just because she didn't meet a top 10 player doesn't mean it was easy. She beat seasoned players like Sorribes, Shelby, Bencic and Sakkari. How is that an easy draw for a qualifier ranked 150th? She simply moved into the top 10 officially 2 days after Emma won the title. You’re welcome 👍🏻 Maria didn’t miraculously go from being a mediocre player to top 10 in 2 days 🤡😂 Sakkari was also 6th place in the rankings for the year at the point Emma beat her, however due to it being a rolling 12 month diary and based on her performance in 2020, her ranking was 11 but her ranking points for 2021 had her ranked at number 6.✌️

While this is a good win for Emma, she still has a long way to go. Served for the match thrice. 5-2, 5-4 and then 6-5. At 6-5 she was double triple break point at 0-40 and had to come back to win the match. We'll take this win but i hope she learns how to finish off matches

She saved 3 Break points in the last game - which for me is a better show of mental strength than saving MP on your own serve. One miss from the 3 BPs and Pegula would have snatched the match away. Great game for Radacanu!
