This game has had my attention for the last month when I noticed preorders on Play Asia. They have a physical release w/ English available for this neat looking game (PS5/Switch). I definitely want to pick this up soon, thanks for the review, well done!
Really confusing score w/ the rest of the review. Redundant combat mechanics and a core note that misses -- was expecting a 7. Then again, I can think of titles I can wax lyrical about shortly before throwing a 4 at it, and vice-versa.
This is my 2nd favorite Metroidvania game ever, just after Hollow Knight. the OST is great, the artstyle is impeccable, the level design is good. The only "downside" was the combat being a bit too "simple", but nonetheless a great game. I haven't fully finished it, but I'm currently in the last area of the game and I loved it. This definitely deserves a 8.5 or 9/10
Nine sols is based on China and BŌ is based on japan. Nine sols has a futuristic theme while BŌ has traditional japanese folklore. Nine sols MC is a Cat, BŌ MC is a Fox kami(kitsune). Nine sols is parry and fighting heavy whioe BŌ is platforming heavy. The only similarities they have is that the games are colourful. I don't get why peope are calling this similar. They both teased their games 3 years ago. I've even seen some people calling this a nine sols copy like wtf? Yeah nine sols came out 1 months early so what? Are people this stupid to think that people can make a game in 1 month?
I'd give it a 8/10 but the lack of a double jump ruins it, makes exploration and boss fights so much worse than they should be, as it is I'd say its a 5/10
That boss is phenomenal. I love the skill expression in that game, beaten it 4 times. Be warned this game is totally different, and is all about the platforming. You won't have anywhere near the same experience
The game is excellent. I'm right near the end and my only complaints are it's smaller than I'd like (hoping for post game content) and there's too much dialogue. Yes it borrows heavily from some of the giants of metroidvania but it does it very well.
@@MikeRavia-xp5ig oh, you mean like 99% of every fking grappling hook like ever and its just called grappling hook? whatever lol never heard that before ^^ and no, not jesus..
The only huge downside to this game I’ve read so far is the lack of cloud saves on PC. I’m not starting two separate campaigns on my PC and STEAM Deck so to speak…….this needs to be fixed before I buy.
Hmm, thats strange, are you been sponsored by they? I'm a metroidvania lover and this Bo one got my attention, as well as Nine Sols. Nine sols is very polished, and is awesome, like at the same level as master pieces like hollow knight, ender lilies and grime. The thing is that even i loving 2d draw styled metroidvanias, i'm not sure if i will play Bo yet. It seems to simple and unpolished, the story and collectibles also seem to simple. Thats why your 9/10 surprised me a lot, is it really that good? i was expecting like a 6 for Bo.
If you've played Hollow Knight and the Ori games, you've played this game. If you really love those you'll probably really love this...if you're looking for something a little different this ain't it
@@Seisachtheia Ori i haven't played. The environment and art seem nice, but the gameplay videos that i've seen dont get me at all. Maybe one day i'll try, but i'm more waiting for crownsworn, ender magnolia or mandragora relase
More and more reviews just sound like paid promotion/ marketing for the games releasing. This feels more like a description of the game and its mechanics than an actual critique.
@@chonkhampter clearly point out the hood and the bad and not ovehype the game, this game is anything but platforming at its finest. Platforming here is inconsistent and needlessly punishing and repetitive. Thats why it feels like a paid ad. Sorry if that invalidated your purchase and made you feel bad.

Nice graphic but jumping mechanics is driving me mad…
Cant wait to start this one in a few days after I finish my first-time Hard Mode playthroughs of Metroid: Zero Mission and Metroid Dread.
I just got one from Japan Monday last Monday and I love it. It’s harder than I thought but it’s beautiful.
Really confusing score w/ the rest of the review.

i was expecting like a 6 for bo, i dont think it would be even close as good as Nine Sols, Hollow Knight, Ender lilies or Grime.

Just the thumbnail for this video made me love this game from the moment I saw it
Excellent review covering lots of areas. The game has a visual charm for sure and I'm glad to hear the movement and combat match-up.
Is it just me this looks so much like Nine Sols?
Similar! But having played both demos they play very very differently.
Similar MC design and asian background. But one is soulslike/parry heavy, one platforming heavy.

Or the one that is more like a souls like
I think I will be playing
But I don't have a lot of time

Beat the entire game in 7 hours 26 minutes. Just a heads up, the tower area with the elevator is absolutely atrocious

This is like a 2D Okami. I love it.
I am in the mood for a colorfull metroidvania. Thx for the review👍
Neat overview! :)
The Daruma system isn’t bad at all. Using it correctly significantly shortens the final boss fight, which is far too long without it
Okay next game after i killed the last boss in Nine Sol :)
Eigong is the best metroidvania boss ever. So good.

need to finish nine sols first.
contact sensitive grappling hook? ngl, that had me puzzled as to wtf thats supposed to be xD
It means you can't use it until there is a place to use it. Like a glowing hook or something. Jesus.

I can’t wait for this one!! Thank you nerd overlords 🎉🎉
why do you pronounce "teal" like "till" lol
Okami meets Hollow Knight
This game is more frustrating than it is fun. Linear
Hollow kniiiiiight
