    Thank you so much! Im having a major problem with out of control high humidity in lockdown... finding out it’s the SURFACE AREA of the water that adjusts the humidity just solved it, you may have just saved 20 of my chickens!

    Wow, I have seen many video's about incubator humidity now, but not even one that explained that humidity depends on the surface of the water, not on the total volume of water. Since watching this I was able to bring down my humidity to below 60%. I hope the first 3 days which were higher than 75% are not going to ruin my first incubating results. Any ideas? Thanks!

    • @AlohaQuails
      @AlohaQuails  6 лет назад +3

      Your incubator should be at 95.5 degrees F for hatching quails.
      Your humidity is how much water is in the air and is measured by a percentage. 75% is very high but will go down as the incubator warms up. LEt it run for 5-6 hours and check the humidity again. Then you can see if it needs water or not. Start with a small surface are wait a couple of hours and check again. Then add more if needed. Keep doing this untill you have the correct amount.

    • @smoshcom100
      @smoshcom100 Год назад

      100 cus if u put it at 99 then the incubator will stop at 99 and turn back on when it reaches 98 as especially cheaper ones don’t maintain a consistent temp so if u chose 100 is will reach 100 then turn off and it will stay between 99 and 100

      If only one tray you may need to find a smaller one to put inside to decrease the surface area.

      Marie Sheppard you can place a dry sponge to suck the moisture out of the incubator

    • @lindashay3480
      @lindashay3480 6 лет назад +1

      Or skip putting water in the bottom and fill a sponge with water. Works for me.

    • @SpYucaipaSoCal
      @SpYucaipaSoCal 5 лет назад

      Don’t do anything let the chicks hatch. High humidity keeps them from sticking in there shells at hatch. Humidity will go back down once they all hatch. Your remaining eggs wont be affected enough to matter. Have fun.

      I’m not sure what the humidity needs to be for goose eggs, but you need to add water every few days to keep the % right. It’s ok to open the incubator it’s no different then the mother getting up to eat or drink, just don’t keep it open longer then a couple of minutes at a time.

    Sir How to decrease humidity in incubator. Before 5days 75%Humidity how to decreas humidity

    • @SpYucaipaSoCal
      @SpYucaipaSoCal 5 лет назад +4

      Allow more fresh air to get into incubator. Open more vents. Have less water surface are inside the incubator. Try covering half your water channels in a styrofoam incubator with a pice of thin plastic. If the humidity outside your incubator is high is the room you have it. Then you may need to move it to another location. For instance it would be hard to get incubator humidity to 40% if outside room air is 65%. I like to run my incubator at 35 to 40% humidity for first 18 days for chicken eggs. Then 65 to 70 for hatch. I prefer a spare room of the house where temperature and humidity are more stable. Give the the incubator at least an hour to stabilize humidity before adjusting anything. A un insulated garage isn’t good choice for a location. An egg should loose 14% of weight the first 18 days to achieve proper egg air cell size for hatch. If you don’t you will have many fully developed chicks that never hatch. I don’t care what your local humidity is. I always run these numbers. I cant remember where i read this theory but it works great. I’ve hatched over a thousand chicken eggs now. And have built a few cabinet incubators.

    • @lallorona6014
      @lallorona6014 4 года назад

      Open 1 plug on the top or 2. 1 open plug at all times to let in oxygen. Don't give up. You need to stop turning the eggs the last 3 days on hatching time or you can drown the chick. Humidity needs to be around 65. I'n hatching time is very important not to open the incubator because it will let out the humidity, and dry the eggs, and the chick won't be able to hatch. I start my eggs at 99.8 and turn it down to 99.5 on the last 3 days to keep the chicks from getting stressed. This is a method I used to call out the week eggs before hatching.

    How do you maintain the humidity mine keeps dropping

    • @AlohaQuails
      @AlohaQuails  6 лет назад

      ZoNo Ashes that will happen as water evaporates. You can add more water every few days to keep the levels right.
      If your incubator has vent holes you can try blocking one of them with tape to trap more moist air inside.
