    How about an instructional video on what to consider when determining the drag factor for the Skierg?

    Awesome video. I’ve been debating on buying the rower vs skierg. My buddy swears by the skierg. This looks like a rough workout. I’ll probably go for the skierg and one day but a rower too haha

      Get the skierg. Most gyms have rowers, but skiergs are harder to come by.

      @@colleenr2 Good point. If you use both ... I can't imagine a better combo of machines ... SO complete

    How can a smaller guy (77kg.) get a better time on a 100 meter sprint? Cannot get under 17.8. Damper setting 10, Watts 490 or so and stroke rate upper 50s. By the way, I'm 63.

    Your videos are great, just subscribed :)
    In your one video you mentioned that rowing is 60% legs and 10% arms (and I assume the remaining 30% is core & back). You also suggested that beginners should to row at least twice a week to enjoy the benefits of rowing.
    So with that in mind, on the remaining 3 to 5 days, what other workouts would you recommend to complement rowing, in order to balance out the muscles that are otherwise neglected (the most obvious one being chest).
    Keep up the great work and cheers from South Africa :)

      Hello South Africa! The 30% is actually hips/glutes, but nonetheless depending on your fitness level and looking at a full program we'd add 2-3 sessions of cross-training and 2-3 strength sessions with recovery (stretching, active recovery etc ) matching the volume of course. Best of luck! Thanks for watching.

    I think the skierg is tougher than a rower

      100% agree. It is a brutal machine.

      Is the Skierg or rower harder than a Versaclimber?

      it is, and there ar a lot of other positions that these vids don't show you, try using it backwards to really burn those triceps! xx

    Outstanding training video. Beach ball visual cue very helpful. When and when not to use sprint start also excellent. Now put together a two-dat-
    a-week program and I'll buy it!

    Does warming up "lose" it? If I "lose" it warming up, how long does it take to "recharge"? Thanks!

    • @DarkHorseRowing
      @DarkHorseRowing  7 лет назад

      Hey dude! Warming up is usually low intensity. If you are working on a piece we suggest proper warming up then wait 3-5 minutes. During that time you can mentally prepare for the workout, rehearse the strategy one last time and bring down your HR a little so you won't "blow up" in the first part of the workout. If you're only practicing multiple sprint starts, 1:30 seems an appropriate break.

    I am interested in a progressive Skierg program geared toward preparing for Tour de Skierg. Like the commenter below, I also am interested in a program that combines rower and Skierg. Concept2 has a few of these type of workouts. I especially like the descending ladder interval one. Again, how to progressively build is where I seem to need help. Rowing and Skierg are new disciplines for me. I either go too hard on oworkout

      Sorry, I hit the wrong button. To finish my thought. I seem to either go too hard one day and not hard enough the next.

      @DarkHorseRowing  7 лет назад +1

      Hey John! Are you looking for advice on volume/ratios for training on a hybrid program? If you're new to both the rower and the Skierg 2 days on each will be plenty. Focus on laying down a base for good movement instead of just volume or target. Main goals should be technique/consistency/intensity in this order and it will pay off on the long run. Hope this helps!
