That buildup near the change up near the ending of the song is one of my favorites by Snarky Puppy. The layering of each section of the band is like ear candy. Great to hear them back on the channel again after you liked Lingus so much. Thanks to whoever sponsored this request. 🔥
Yeah! Snarky Puppy!
So many great songs to chose from; Lingus being the obvious next suggestion. Also, What About Me? is a great song from the same session. One of my personal favourites is The Curtain; which has one of -if not- THE most beautiful piano solos ever in the history of mankind.
Yeah, absolutely! Lingus has maybe the best keyboard solo I’ve ever heard. Ridiculous. In a good way.
i literally cant handle the piano solo.
What about me is some serious shit man.. literally the best song I’ve ever heard.
So glad you are re-visiting Snarky. Love this BIG BAND (but with a modern twist and impossibly great musicians). SO funky.
If you want something in this vein, but more 'standard' big band, check out Phil Collins Big Band from the late 90s. He had Oleta Adams sing with them as well as the legendary Tony Bennett. The best cut is their cover of 'Pick Up the Pieces' by Average White Band. Five giants of the sax do solos along with George Duke on piano. Yeah, THAT George Duke from Frank Zappa and Michael Jackson fame. (live Montreux 1998)
Splendid. Catch that perfect syncopation and flexed harmonization. They are very much themselves. Thank you.
Hell yeah! This was the first Snarky Puppy song I head. A guest jazz band instructor recommended we check this out.
fyi that trumpet-like instrument is a flugelhorn
I've loved snarky puppy for years, seem them live multiple times, and ebem talked to some of the guys including Michael League (the bassist-truly a chill bro, even kept girls waiting so we could talk). Amazing band. One of a kind, and so underrated
If you dig this sound I suggest vulfpeck
If you haven't already you HAVE TO check out Snarky Puppy's "What about me"! It's from the same album and recording session as Lingus. It is absolutely incredible.
this needs more likes and more snarky puppy and higher credit scores lol
Great reaction! One of my favourites from snarky. I get goose bumps on goose bumps on the change up with the synth melody so when u were feeling thst I was like.... Yes man 👊🏻.im a year and a half into my snarky puppy journey and I never tire of relistening.
Knew you'd like the snarky pup, some other suggestions along these lines are(brass against, postmodern jukebox,Ren)
Picked up a guitar in my late 30s. Never to late
Another suggestion, outlier , sax/drum solo amazing
Maaaan, you need to listen to Shofukan from these guys. It's extremely awesome!
In a million years...I never woulda thought I'd of seen the day.....
Oh we’re doing jazzy stuff now? Sweet, check out Broken Brass - Got the Funk. Also have you heard of Brass Against? They’re a brass band that do a lot of rock covers, you’ve gotta check out their cover of Tool’s “The Pot” Sophia Urista absolutely kills the vocals and I believe they just toured with Tool too.
Check out Animals as Leaders. It is amazing how three people can sound like that.
That soft trumpet sound is from a flugelhorn. Frank Magione made that instrument famous in the 70s jazz fusion explosion.
Chuck Mangione
@@realbser1956 Thank you. I knew that but had a brain fart. I even looked him up to be sure I had his last name correct. Duh.
Lol, ok this is about to sound corny, but I believe it,..
I really enjoy the time I spend with your content, feels like my mental health bank fills up a bit each time xo
Thanks Polo, appreciate you 🙏
Great react! Snarky Puppy is amazing. For an upbeat, fun vibe with an AWESOME video listen/watch Snarky Puppy "Bad Kids to the Back"
You'll probably never see this but I know you have been watching a lot of Tool stuff. There is this band called brass against that does a lot of different songs and tool is one of the bands they cover. They are an incredible band. Incredible singer with a lot of brass instruments.
If you want a breath of fresh air look no further than Starship, " I didn't mean to stay all night" it will be one of your new favorite songs. Besides Vicarious of course lol. That's one of my favorites too. A perfect circle "weak n powerless" and "Hollow". Tool " "H" , "Jimmy" and "Stinkfist ". Thank you POLO for everything your doing an amazing job dude.
❤ Pink Floyd "Time" + "The Great Gig in The Sky" in one go, dont stop in between..
But you'll need some Hifi cans that can do female voices very well... And bass too :)
E.g. Beyerdynamics T1 with good a headphone amp
"and then one day you find
10 years have got behind you
noone told you when to run
you missed the starting gun"
OK I'm back to binge watching your vids... 💪
PS also: Tool Schism
careful if you just broke up.. this might break you up again...
"Cold silence has a tendency to
Atrophy any sense of compassion
Between supposed lovers
Between supposed lovers
I know the pieces fit
'cause saw them tumble down"
that beat at the end is so fn hard
Soon to be playing, live, here in #TheLand @ the Masonic Auditorium
Some of their arrangements sound a lot like James bond movie scores from the 60s and 70s to me. Then they'll throw in a Jazz transition, or give it more of a Hip Hop/R&B feel too long it's brilliant and gets the same kind of stimulation one would get by someone posing an interesting problem, that could have multiple correct answers, and the answer to the question they posed both resolves the problem but is both interesting and different than you would have done it yourself.
If this song had a different beat it would 100% be some James Bond shit. The horns are so cool.
Damn. I misread that as “Skinny Puppy”.
It's as if they've just been playing this beautiful, inspiring music...and then just at the end George Clinton walks in and shoots them all with his bop gun.
I highly recommend listening to Young Stuff, from the same album. Such a banger.
How have we not done GOJIRA yet????
Also... Ticks and leeches from tool...
Listen to skinny puppy¡!!!!!!!
Know it’s been awhile but…would love you to react to “Shokufan” by SnarkyPuppy when you have a slot. Kinda makes jazz band cool
🔥🔥🔥
I have never heard of this band..... for the fans, please confirm, is their name a play on the revolutionary Industrial band Skinny Puppy? Are they fans?
to be in that room......
Harry Mack 80!
Dope.....but we need more Tool and A Perfect Circle reactions!!! You should do A Perfect Circle 3 Libras. I love your channel BTW.
has he even done Schism yet?
I don't think so I've looked lol
Please do the band Moontemple. They're new!
Would love to see you experience their song Lingus. It was what introduced me to Snarky Puppy.
Polo has reacted to Lingus. He loved it. Check it out. 😊
@@realbser1956 I didn't realize that. Thanks, I will check it out.
PLEASE CHECK OUT THEIR SONG “TAKE IT!”, it is sooooo much better
Try the reaction of Tennessee Wesky Cakra Khan, you will surely be amazed
As great as this is, I prefer the Dunlop Sessions version they did in this video: ruclips.net/video/IE9I6NrE2S0/видео.html. I can't explain it except to say it feels more "live". That and the flugelhorn solo is played through a wah pedal which dives it a ton of drive and energy. Oh, and Larnell Lewis on drums, so there's that. :)
Seriously, now that you've heard this, go check out that version!
Dude! Loving your reactions. I've been subbed for a while now and was wondering if you would react to something no one else seems to be reacting to... some African music. Would love to see your reaction to Newen Afrobeat feat. Seun Kuti & Cheick Tidiane Seck - Opposite People. It has 13 million views and is a total banger from an amazing band.
OH WAIT
there's no Nirvana in your list...
listen to smells like teen spirit now please...
welcome to grunge
(pearl jam 'even flow', and the whole album 'Ten')
but Pink Floyd The Dark Side of the Moon still beats all imho
Time for opeth
