- Recently, maraming mga posts online ang nakikita natin na tungkol sa kung paano ba dapat kumilos at manamit ang isang babae para maiwasan niya ang kahit anong sexual assault at abuse. Kadalasan nasa babae ang sisi kung bakit ito nangyayari, na para bang ang burden ay palaging nasa kanila. Through this short film titled "Boy Talk", gusto naming i share ang opinyon namin sa discussion na ito.

More often than not, the first question survivors of sexual assault are asked after coming forward is, “What were you wearing?” This question is based on an assumption perpetuated by rape culture - that whatever someone was wearing somehow contributed to them being raped. Usually, people who ask questions like this think rape only happens when someone is wearing something revealing.
With the help of RAINN, we reached out to sexual-assault survivors and we asked them what they were wearing when they were assaulted to see if we could clear up any misconceptions. We collected the articles of clothing that represented their answers and shipped them to Seattle, where photographer Ashley Armitage put together this series, appropriately titled “What I Was Wearing.”

Most of us new generation can relate to this. We have a different perspective than our titos, titas, papa, mama. Our generation now has really improve in addressing inequalities. But let's not hate them for having this "toxic mentality", see to it that their perspective is a result of their experiences, of their time. Acknowledge that during their youths they have also go against the traditional norms. If you have these kinds of relatives, you might engage in a discussion with them. Share your perspective. Do not let this make a gap between you. We are younger so we must understand them and be patient in telling them that times are changing and we must adapt to it. Tell them that we are more liberated to exercise our rights, to fight for equality. I encourage you to have a patient discussion with them. They are still used to the things that they have grown up with. These titos, titas naman are good to us, only that we differ from their perspective.

This clearly shows how resistant the older generation is to change and the emerging generation fighting its way through culture that is deeply ingrained. Eto na lang, normally in developed countries, woman can go outside in their bikinis and crop tops and shorts without getting raped. Bakit hindi sila narerape? Kasi kontrolado ng mga lalaki yung urges nila. Kasi wearing a bikini DOES NOT automatically translate to "asking for it" and those men know that. They know a verbal or clear CONSENT is needed. Yung mga lalaki dito na kinokompare yung sarili nila sa langaw or kung ano mang ibang hayop-- langaw ba kayo? Konting development naman ng level of intelligence dyan. Hindi naman siguro mahirap ma-realize na mali yung mangmanyak kahit ano pang idahilan mo diba?
This really talks about the present culture and beliefs in our society. Sobrang powerful naman ng mensahe na 'to. This made me feel na ansarap talagang maka-collab ni Direk Dary Ow especially ang Wonderlast film itself. More powers sainyo guys! Ang hirap nung kalagayan ni Kiko, yung gusto mong ipaliwanag at baguhin ang pananaw ng ibang nakakatanda kaso laging ibabalik sa'yo 'bata ka pa hindi mo pa naiintindihan.'
napakaganda ng film na 'to, sobrang simple ng setting, walang sigawan o paghuhubad na nagaganap pero nakakaentertain at nakakaeducate. sa film na to, hindi lang about sa rape culture yung natackle or matututunan, andon din yung toxic mindset na kapag wala kapang gf, nasasabihan ka na bakla ka. na sa ibat-ibang bagay talaga naikukumpara ang kababaihan at na yung katawan natin ay para sa kalalakihan which is not correct. tsaka sadly, hindi lahat ng tao katulad ng mindset ni kiko. na mayroon parin yung pilit na ginagawang dahilan ang pananamit ng kababaihan para sa kabastusan. na para sakanila, hindi ka naman mababastos kung hindi kaakit-akit ang damit na suot mo. kahit gaano pa kabukas, kaikli o kaganda ang suot mo, hindi ibig sabihin non ay may permiso na sila na galawin ka ng walang pahintulot mo. 2020 na, victim blaming parin yung mindset ng iba.
More of this, please. Yung educational and eye-opener about societal issues. Yung films na walang sigaw, mura, at hubad-hubad.
huy ang solid ng script! yung flow at concept ng story grabe. progressive tapos BIG IRONY yung nagsimula sa gusto ng tito nya na mag jowa agad sya at mag "explore" pero sa dulo sinisisi nya on the same people (or probably "himself" though not realized). ang galing! much better than teleseryes, this one tackles real life issue, a real lesson, plus these two actors really do well. magaling!

And remember that Ben is also a symbolism here representing the old peeps or the previous generation and base on his perspective, it was 'normal' (Ben: Kiks, huwag mo ng pansinin iyon huh? Normal na talaga iyon...) Not just sure with the exact words but it also has the same idea though...

Si Tito mali siya about sa parang pinapalabas niya na normal lang ang pangbabae at tama siya about sa pag iwas sa pagsuot ng mga damit na nagpapakita ng too much skin, gaya ng maikling shorts and swim suits, and of course it also goes sa mga lalaki huwag mag shirtless unless nasa loob ka lang ng bahay at walang ibang taong nakakakita sayo. Kailangan natin tandaan na ang temptation hindi lang sa lalaki yan, natetempt din ang mga babae.
The things you wear should be a reflection pf what your heart looks like on the inside. We are called to be modest and pure, always ask yourselves "is wearing this gonna help me be modest and pure? Can this outfit be used for God's glory?"
Si pamangkin naman tama siya about sa mga lalaki, dapat ang mga lalaki meron tayong self control, at sa mga lalaking di macontrol sarili nila, pray for God's help and guidance.
Matthew 5:28-29 says,
"But now I tell you: anyone who looks at a woman and wants to possess her is guilty of committing adultery with her in his heart. So if your right eye causes you to sin, take it out and throw it away! It is much better for you to lose a part of your body than to have your whole body thrown into hell".
Pero mali ang kaisipan niyang "normal lang ang magsuot ng swim suits at maikling shorts". 1 Timothy 2:9-10 says, "Likewise the women are to dress in suitable apparel, with modesty and self-control. Their adornment must not be with braided hair and gold or pearls or expensive clothing, but with good deeds, as is proper for women who profess reverence for God."
In 1 Timothy 2:9-10 Paul encouraged the Christian women of his day to be “modest” for the sake of not dressing like the worldly Roman women. Paul was basically telling the women to be set apart (holy) in that culture. He didn’t want them looking like the prostitutes and pagan women of the day.
Our clothes display our heart.
Sadly, we live in a “selfie” focused culture. We’re all about one thing: ourselves. Whatever makes us feel good and we look good in, we wear. We want attention and affirmation, so we often wear immodest clothes to get it. But don't get me wrong, womens aren’t the only ones wearing immodest clothing though.
Whether it’s a guy taking off his shirt or a girl wearing a bikini, showing off our body is a constant temptation. We pridefully want the attention on ourselves, instead of on God. We want people to look at us and think we’re “hot". Huwag na tayong maglokohan, aminin nating minsan proud na proud tayo sa katawan at physical features natin that's why minsan even we know it's wrong, we still do it.
Whether you're a guy or girl, we as Christians should dress in a way that reveals a humble heart devoted to pointing others to God, not our bodies.
In both gender, modesty should be a priority, because it sets us apart from our pagan culture. It covers our nakedness and reminds us of our need for a Savior.
Remember, mga kapatid, we live THROUGH Him and FOR Him alone. So, whatever you do, do it all for the Glory of God.
