My New Year’s resolution is no / very low buy. I recently decluttered my closet and decided that I actually pretty much have everything I want. And so 2025 will be a lowkey year on frivolous spending. High on experiences and helping out ❤️
Those two drawers with random stuff made me feel so much better. I thought I was the only one holding onto stuff like that 😂

I like the declutter. I put all my travel items in my suitcase and anything else where I’ll use it-it helps to just get it out of there and into the suitcase.
This makes me want to clean out my closet and all my makeup/skin care. Love the declutter vids!

Oh boy, I have the same issue and I am such a clothes hoarder, lol. Partly because each piece I buy, I curate and love and partly because I have been the same size since college, so everything fits. Also, there were some items I bought in Europe, decades ago and gave away, like original Sonia Rykiel and Pucci pieces and now could kick myself. But, I have to do this and you are inspiring me.
If this wasn’t the motivation I need to embark on my holiday break cleaning/organizing/selling/donating journey I don’t know what is! Literally trying to solve the same problems as you are here so thank you for the inspiration!

When I moved, my organizer guru made me get rid of unnecessary boxes. She’d ask, “What’s the point?” Tough love? I’m glad you expunged the too big clothes. My mother would call that stuff as being from “Omar the tent maker.” More tough love. Congrats on your decluttering. Excellent job, albeit exhausting.
Why not put all your coats into another closet? This would give you more space in your main closet.
This is what I had to do, coats occupy a lot of space.

Hi Michele, thanks for another declutter video!!!🎉🎉🎉 I did the same thing to my old clothes. I tossed all my polyester shirts, dresses and pants and only kept the cotton and silk ones . It was such a time consuming process. Happily, at the end it did earn me a lot space for new goodies❤❤❤

My closets are stuffed so tight when you mentioned the clothes on hangers being wrinkled I knew exactly how you felt. Hanging clothes on the valet rods yep. I plan on the closet declutter between Christmas and New Year. Make room for any new goodies I get. Lol
When I’m finished, I put all the hangers in the front of the section. Makes them easier to find. I also straighten all the hangers. But that’s because of my retail clothing working days. Great job. Just think of all the new stuff you have room for 😊

Wow, good for you losing what I’m guessing to be a huge amount of weight. Also brave and committed to decide you’re never going back to whatever size you were!! Getting rid of it all ensures you won’t put it back on..Myself, like lots of females I know, have a varying amount of sizes in my closet. If I’m starting to head into the bigger stuff I know it’s time to take control…congrats…your videos are so fun to watch too as they really vary into many topics.

Hahaha I do the same with my tags and receipts. I hang on to them in case I want to return or make an excel as reference to sell my stuff later on when I out grow it. Never get around to it 😂
Eileen fisher does a recycle program. They resell, or reuse if you return to the store. You also get $5 credit.

Great inspirational video. My new rule is I have to get rid of something if I buy something. I'm out of room, I would rather have a few nice pieces than a closet full of so-so clothing pieces. This year will be a low buy except for a few luxury pieces. Also, I find that it is too warm to wear cashmeres most of the time in Los Angeles and they just sit in containers - so no more cashmere sweaters. I love Veronica Beard clothing. Great quality and not too expensive. My obsession is with scarves - preferably Hermes or Gucci. Luckily, they don't take up a lot of room. BTW, anything from Lululemon sells really well on Poshmark if you feel the inclination to turn them into cash.

Your shirt dress collection reminds me a LOT of my work wardrobe - LOL - so that would suggest, perhaps as a bonus, when you donate the items that you are no longer using - there is probably a bunch of people that need great work wear that would love to give a new life to items.
The No 20 with milk, is delicious!! Unfortunately a lot of the special flavors in Nespresso are limited edition. The peanut and sesame are. Patiently waiting for you to try the chocolate!

Yes, saving all those empty boxes is hoarding behavior lol When are you ever going to use those again? However, I can relate! I have the same problem with saying to myself - that’s a good bag (or box) - and it’s literal garbage 😂

I have been at my wits end to make my mum declutter her closet. She has hoarded way too many things now and has about 5 different people's measurement in her wardrobe! :'D Mind you, she is a professional seamstress, so literally everything she touches, she comments on HOW it can be transformed into still usable ... but she has no space in her apartment, dammit! :'D
Anyway, it is nice to see you keep empty nice boxes and tags and receipts :D :D I do the same... however what helped me tone that type of hoarding is two rules:
1. Only keep receipts until items can be returned and only keep tags of special collabs/limited releases.
2. Only keep the first ever purchased item's box/brand. So first ever Chanel makeup order that came in a large box, still have it, but none of the ones that came after. First ever Vivienne Westwood jewellery box, but none of the ones purchased after. And so on.
Hope it helps, hope you read it, hope you'll consider it one day. It made me feel much lighter.

Ah time for me to declutter my closet as well. I’ve donated so many items but I could do more. I want to get my wardrobe down to just the pieces I wear on the usual. I have so many “just in case” or “backup” pieces but I’ve got to be honest with myself, I don’t need those cluttering up my closet and drawers.😂 edit: tailoring that blazer will be expensive since they’ll basically have to alter it all over and likely need to adjust the armscye which is tricky. Hey Michele, I realize you likely do not have the bandwith for this but thought I'd throw it out there anyway, if you wanted to sell some of those AH-Mazing pieces you could take the money and put it towards a charity of your liking, or of course keep the $$ after all they are your clothes, you bought them, I just heard you say you wanted to donate them and this is jus ta different way to allow women like myself would LOVE one or two of those awesome items and would gladly pay for them, and it would be a way to raise some $$ for a charity that is maybe close to your heart. just a thought :) you have made me inspired to attack my own closet after Christmas :)
You are funny finding something cool and Chanel you forgot about. I have done the same thing. You gave me the inspiration to go through my makeup and I realized I no longer like some of the scents I used to love. I also found a bunch of goodies so I am saving money. It is worth it but exhausting! I see a much deserved rest in your future. 😊

You worked hard but you must feel so “light” to declutter. I don’t know if you plan on leaving the empty hangers randomly throughout your closet. I keep my extra hangers in a basket in my closet. I can easily grab what I need when I need one instead of looking through my clothes for an empty hanger. It also affords me extra rack space. You are going to make many women happy with your donations. 🥰
Get rid of everything that’s too big…the dressmakers charge as much to fix then the item. Buy fresh
The Container Store = the store full of plastic that will eventually end up in landfill
Ever thought of being a non consumer?
Jackets that are too big should be declutterred. To tailor armholes, and all panels will ruin the line/style of the jacket. Don’t keep clothes that are ‘slightly big’ you deserve clothes that fit. Only keep clothes that truly fit in your closet. Pack away any clothes that don’t fit, it will help you move closer to letting it go. Black looks best on young people. Otherwise it is funeral or widow attire.
