Have this ahead of me this weekend. Ordered the starter before this video was published... And happy I waited this long to put it in, this is a really well done video giving me plenty of confidence thanks!

Thanks for showing, I've found in 40 years of wrenching that it's almost always easier to remove the hardest to reach bolt first. Then the easiest bolt last. Just like you did install the easiest first and don't completely tighten any until they are all started.

Thanks for this video, I just changed out the starter on my 2010 f 150. I couldn’t fit my 3/8 ratchet and extension on that top bolt (just slightly too long) and was barely able to break it with the 1/4” but I got it off new one on. Took just over 2 hours to do the job and saved me a few hundred bucks on labour. Thanks again

Your video was very helpful. Took a long time because of sticky bolts, rust and rain storms (I had to work in my driveway), but I managed to remove and install a re-manufactured starter on my 2009 f-150 I obtained at the local ford dealer. You weren't kidding about the top bolt, which I had to feel around by guesstimating the bolt interfaces on the bell housing with my fingers, then guessing where to re-insert the bolt by feel. Lost the bolt once, but found it after purchasing a new bolt and eventually finished the job. Starter worked from the get-go. Thanks!

I'd use anti seize on the threads! Ford should've put bolts on the rear of the bellhousing instead of removing from front.!!!!!!!!

That top bolt is impossible! Got it out, but it's never going back in cuz i lost it somewhere on top of the bell housing. You can't even see the top one!!!

I did this whole process, installed a new starter, checked every fuse and relay in the truck after that didn't work, finally checked the fuse box in the cab as a last ditch effort and... there was a cable half unplugged. That was causing several issues the darn thing was having. Probably why the previous owner sold it so cheap to be frank.

Was surprised you could get your finger on that top bolt and get it back in place.
