It feels like the movies never planned for Obi-Wan and Grievous to have ever fought before because at the beginning Grievous tells him that he was trained in the Jedi arts like he never saw him fight before, and Obi seems surprised when he starts spinning the lightsabers even though he did that in every fight during the show.
Well of course the movies never planned for it to happen, the movie happened before the show started doing that constantly, pretty much disregarding that whole scene in that movie all together. It just looks pretty stupid they did that really.
Or maybe Obi wan was shocked since grievous did that kind of spin with his lightsabers in the movie since grievous never did that kind of spin to him during their fights
Because that's exactly that. Obi Wan and Grievous were never meant to be archenemies. The old Clone Wars Multimedia Project had Ventress instead as Obi Wan's worst enemy, whereas Grievous was busy terrorizing and murdering other Jedi.
One of my favourite things about the Clone Wars is just these two trying to kill each other for three years. They were fighting their own war the whole time
@@grivous9515he’s losing battles but not the war. It is canon that the clones were not able to keep up with the numbers of the droids and were losing the war overall. That’s why palpatine wants to end the war artificially in ROTS by capturing himself and killing obi-wan
Perhaps it would make a little more sense if Grevious had only used two sabers while fighting Obi-Wan. As if the quad arms were a new feature that he installed shortly before revenge of the sith. Either that or Grevious just hadn't used four sabers against Obi Wan before because of arrogance or something. That might've better explained Obi-Wan's surprise.

Well, it's certainly a solution to him always beating Kenobi by grabbing him with his extra limbs. But, "beat?" Another story entirely. Grievous has won fights with lost limbs before.
10:17 I love how a battle droid in the back tapped on another battle droid's shoulder and gestured to the fight, as if to say "Hey, look what's going down"
You can really tell how much effect the Clone Wars had on Grievous, when they first introduce him he hardly coughs or wheezes, but during ROTS dude could barely keep it together😂
My only issue is the ROTS scene when Grievous said "You fool! I've been trained in your Jedi arts by Count Dooku!" Kenobi already knew that and Grievous knew it. It's almost like he suddenly had amnesia. And he tells Kenobi to attack after Kenobi said "Your move" and still makes the first move.
If you're referring to the quote that doesn't make sense, then my issue is in the ROTS where Obi-Wan said: "This time we will do it together" as Anakin responded: "I was about to say that" but yet the show had them team up on Dooku in the episode *"The Lost One"* where Anakin and Obi-Wan engage Dooku together and in the end they failed to defeated him.
I mean, how I see it, Grievous *DID* repeat his catchphrases *ALL* the time throughout the Clone Wars, so I think that explains why he told him that. If you're saying this because it was an error when tied-in with the Clone Wars.
grievous challenged obi wan to attack since grievous was a very agressive fighter, he could easialy beat oponents who attack him but notice how kenobi went into the form 3 stance of lightsaber combat or otherwise known in the sw community as the "defensive" form so grievous was forced to attack first thats how i always looked at it
You can tell that grievous was training throughout the clone wars. Each time he fought obi wan you can see that he had improved a ton. Eventually he became too strong for obi wan entirely. Considering they confirmed that mace windu chased grievous on coruscant, I believe that the force crush still happened, and that is why obi wan beat grievous in episode 3. Otherwise only anakin or mace would stand a chance.
Yoda would toy with grievous so much Edit : btw luke bullied vader in rotj, so I'm pretty sure he can destroy grievous too(don't start vader was going easy bullshit)
Yep, glad the writers acknowledge this major weakness. Kenobi was learning grevious fighting style the whole time to eventually defeat him after many attempts
because if you pay attention he almost always wins because Kenobi doesn't expect him to use his two extra arms without a lightsaber in the middle of the fight
Damn, Grievous is much better in clone wars then i remember. He definitely wins in pure lightsaber combat against Kenobi, but then there is also Kit Fisto vs Grievous and Asajj vs Grievous and gungans...So I cant really tell if he is a good fighter or not.
He is a good fighter... and also a coward... and also a good strategist... and he simply doesnt care about codes of honor or morals... he just wants to fight another day ...
They don't do him much justice in the series, since of course he is fighting the protagonists, in the comics he regularly dueled and at one point almost beat dooku to the point where dooku was actually terrified of how big of a threat he could be and when dooku once question his loyalty grievous just straight up beat up Ventress and durge just to prove he was still the best, I haven't kept up with Disney canon but grievius was far from weak
Fisto used form 1,that was good to fight multiple oponents, and grievous fought with multiple lightsabers, that way it was almost like fisto was fighting four enemies, and it gave him advantage, ventrees was very powerfull, since she survived many duels with different jedi, and sidious feared that dooku would use her as a mean to defeat him,and you must not underestimate the gungans, they are indeed a warrior race, what give then a silly reputation is their "accent" and jar jar
For everyone saying TCW breaks continuity and doesn't make sense with the dialogue in the movies here's the explanation: General Grievous' amour & cybernetics we're now updated and I don't think he used the spinning arms to that extent on Obi before. So during ROTS that's why Obi-Wan looks shocked. Anakin and General Grievous have never met in the show so that they could have their meeting in ROTS be their first since their dialogue in the movie hints that it was their first, thus keeping continuity. Obi-Wan's line about, "this time we will take him together" is due to their last duel; Anakin and Obi we're dueling the Count and near the end, the Count was escaping on a leaving ship, so Obi had to stay behind to help force push Anakin onto the ship resulting in Anakin and the Count fighting with just them two in the end (the Count still got away). Another duel months before hand, had Anakin dueling the Count on Naboo and Obi-Wan didn't show up until the end. So Obi's line makes sense. Plus all those duels we're months before the end of the war, Anakin was closer to the dark side now and his hair was longer and Jedi robes were different showing time in the war has gone by. General Grievous always repeats lines like, "your lightsaber will make you fine addition to my collection" AND "trained in the Jedi arts..." line was never said before and now, as stated above, the General was now updated with better cybernetics (compare his S7/ROTS model with his earlier ones in the TCW). Plus he's based off of Sunday morning hero vs. villians cartoons and that's how the villians are with repetitive monologues etc. Ashoka wasn't in ROTS movie due to being on Mandalore and her coldness to Anakin helps make his transition seem even smoother than the movie alone. Ashoka and the events of ROTS actually blend together so that you can see them taking place side by side. Ashoka enters the war meeting with Windu and Yoda (during the I sense a plot to destroy the Jedi...scene) after Anakin leaves and Yoda delivers the line, "grave care we must take" and helps keep continuity that much further. TCW near the end further develops the outer rim sieges when Anakin tells Padmè the sieges kept them apart. The end of TCW S7 shows Anakin briefly on Coursant (begining of S7) explaining how she can pregnant. They also explain and show how Anakin could only briefly hologram contact Padmè here and there further explaining how in ROTS that he missed her and how she was pregnant. TCW S6 & S7 shows Palpatine grow in political power now controlling the banks (helps explain funding for the death star) and the war growing. They show Anakin begin to mistrust the Jedi after expelling his Padawan despite being a war hero and saving Windu (S7) and others. They show how order 66 works. The movies are made to be understood on their own and the shows give deeper meaning and context WHILE KEEPING continuity. George made the movies and helped write and develope the show. They flow, "their like poetry". Don't just hate to hate, TCW has some of Star Wars' best moments.
@@bernardoayres1139 Thank you bro! It's just a constant gripe people have, even in this comment section so I thought I'd show them it actually DOES fit in perfectly; makes it even better actually; which is saying a lot as the movies a lone are awesome!
With all due respect, this explanation is bullshit. Stop trying making head canon to make TCW working together with the movies. There are far too many points in the show that just don't make any sense. The only canon that maches to the prequeks is the multimedia project. If you want to know why. Watch the video, why TCW doesn't fit into legends
Idk if anyone will see this comment but, technically grievous beat Obi-Wan interms of pure lightsaber combat, its just that obi wan uses the force or runs away. especially their first few fights, so even tho it doesn't look like it imo grievous won (atleast their first few encounters).
@@UnrealSjS yeah tbh I like grevouse in 08 clone wars cuz he's more consistent, and plus he still wins his fights, people call him weak and a coward but I don't think he's that weak, and yeah 2d grievous was way too op but he is inconsistent with his rots self, cuz if he is able too use his legs, create a shield, do front and back flips, twist all of his arms around his stomach flat 360 degrees, then why didn't he do that in rots, i like 2d grievous but still has a very inconsistent power level, and 3d grevouse has more wins than losses, cuz alot of his fight jedi just use the force to push him back or something, and 3d grevouse has alot of opportunities to kill jedi but is very cocky and overconfident. Like his fight with ventress where he constantly taunts, and just says he is better and looks like he isn't even trying, but the thing is that ventress is on dathemier (idk how to spell the planet name) so she could've got powered by the planet, also when ventress fully uses the dark side and suddenly goes siko mode, that could've caught grevouse off guard and he losses cuz of that. I know this long but kinda wanted to go into full detail a little.
Exactly. Grievous was able to harmed Kenobi bunch of time in their fight. Twice Ahsoka couldn't even bring down Grievous on her own and couldn't do much in the fight which is why she fled the scene. Outside the show comic had Grievous defeat Depa Billaba, Maul while book confirmed he has defeated Pablo-Jill and Shaak Ti.
While 2003 TCW Grievous has a special place in my heart, I prefer canon Grievous. I think people fail to realize exactly what makes him such a potent adversary. I regularly compare him to Starscream from Transformers. The villainous second in command to the powerful leader. (Dooku, Megatron) They will fight if they have the upper hand, have no honor, will laugh when they are winning and will run when the tide turns. That to me is what makes a great villain. You can have your Dr. Dooms or Darth Sidious who are all powerful and those villains are good too, but I prefer the Grievous type. They aren't overpowered, they will fight dirty, be creative, and try to get an edge over their opponent. And when you think about the odds, its actually a credit to the general. He fights against clones bred for war, an entire Republic, and Jedi order who can use the force. How many warriors are really willing to stand and fight a jedi in lightsaber combat? And its not like he loses every fight, he holds his own against Obi Wan on multiple occasions, against Maul, Ventress, and has I think a dozen or so Knight kills, and straight up defeats master Koth. He turns the tide of the entire war and almost wins outright on numerous occasions and even says himself he doesn't care about the politics, he just wants to command the greatest droid army in the galaxy and wipe out the Jedi. That to me is an amazing villain. Not to mention he's just cool as fuck.
He also held his own against Depa Billaba and Quinlan Vos, defeating Billaba not once but twice on Haruun Kal and Mygeeto. On Raxus, Grievous managed to get the upper hand and immediately overpower Quinlan Vos when Vos initially ambushed the cyborg general to keep him away from joining in with Dooku. Vos took two lightsabers off the cyborg and then severed one of his hands. However, Grievous spread all four arms wide open, then charged and clashed in midair, knocking Vos back toward the wall. Not only defeating Jedi but Grievous actually gain the most kill than Count Dooku (2), Asajj Ventress (1), Maul (3) and Savage Opress (4). Currently Grievous had killed 16 Jedi so far, including a number of Jedi in the catacombs of Stalgasin hive which took place at the Battle of Geonosis. Many people overlooked what Grievous did and always underestimated him in TCW.
@@cwylfre He never fought bilaba in canon or in legends. And he should've stomped vos in legends. Dooku did. Canon Grievous lost to f*cking Gungans. That's all that needs to be said.
Honestly if you step back that's a read that can apply to 2003 Grevious too, I've long thought that that Grevious and rots Grevious make a nice bridge where what we see in the former is him at the top of his game, him from the perspective of his victims, him where he's made sure the deck is stacked overwhelming in his favour before the fight begins, which Dooku in that series makes sure to hammer into Grevious's head is the only way to go head to head with the elite order of jedi, wheras rots and his better moments in this series are him as he truly is deep down. Though I do think 3d clone wars brought him down a little TOO much at times, and his mustache twirling could become more repetitive and boring than hammy and fun.
The amount of times Kenobi has been kicked by giant clawed metal legs, hed have serious back problems at this point. Also, im pretty sure Kenobi and maybe Fisto are the oy two Jedi we've seen successfully Stop Grievous in his tracks while he's spinning his blades.
He really should have been a lot better of a fighter. He can attack every line at once making it impossible for a person with 1 sabre to defend against. There's so many scenes where he is pushing against someone with all 4 arms when all he needs to do is drop 1 arm beneath their guard and gut stab them. I feel like if they made it so his weaknesses were blaster fire (since he can't use the force to predict where shots will come from) and the force but he was basically a death sentence if he ever got close enough to duel you he would be a more interesting character.
they are perfectly balanced lmao grievous has 4 arms and sabers which makes him unadaptable but in the other hand obi wan has perfect defensive fighting skills that makes him almost unbeatable and grievous has a mobility and a big robotic body that allows him to overpower his enemies easily when he is in trouble but in the other hand obi wan has the force that makes non force sensitive enemies like grievous desperate in mostly situations
@@TerribleVA When Grievous defeated those other Jedi, he used fear, surprise, and intimidation to break them before engaging them. They can use the force, but Grievous' tactics were designed so he would overwhelm them as quickly as possible in close range combat, forcing them to counter with lightsaber combat rather than the force. However, Obi-Wan is the perfect counter to Grevious. Not only is he a Jedi MASTER, but he's also THE master of form III, Soresu. Soresu is all about an impregnable defense, and keeping the opponent busy trying to break it while you find their weak point and strike. Obi-Wan fought Grievous enough times to recognize that the only way to beat him was to have the element of surprise and stay on the offensive once he found an opening.
4:34 I vote Grievous: A Star Wars Story Live Action Movie takes place in Comic Books, Video Games, CW Adventures 2003, TCW Legacy and Chapter Books with Grievous in his pre-cyborg form, 1st Battle of Geonosis, Hypori, Utapau Kyber Krystal, and Coruscant(Kidnapping Chancellor) Arcs
Well i think that Obi wan and grievous final duel it was Kenobi first time seeing grievous fighting like as he knows he spins but not like a chainsaw. But when grievous first say that he trains under the jedi art by count dooku it is saying that he has improved and adapted over time as i recall that Dooku did trained Grievous but it was like a rush order. So i believe over time Dooku completes Grievous training. (Thats my idea).
Maul - the oldest archenemy of Kenobi with highest body count of loved ones Vader - most personal archenemy of Kenobi with highest Grievous - archenemy of Kenobi with highest duel counts
All the fights before the final fight in Utapau explains why Obi-Wan got Cocky with Grievous in that fight, LOL. Jeez man, I just love this show SOO much!
Not trying to be rude but first of all, Dathomir is known to be very strong to the dark side. Other Jedi? oh you mean Kit Fisto who somehow defeated Grievous but couldn't defeat a group of MagnaGuard (reminder that the same droid who can never defeat or kill a single Padawan), but his former apprentice Nahdar Vebb can. Just like the beginner Ahsoka on the mission to Teth which literally make no sense. Obi-Wan in Arc Troopers and Grievous Intrigue, actually never successfully won the fight since he only brought him down by Force pushes him against the wall relies on using his Force Power but never bother defeat him by relieing on his lightsaber skill to fairly overpowered/defeat Grievous. According to *Star Wars Fact File* as it stated: "Obi-Wan Kenobi and Grievous often fought to a stalemate when they clashed, so equally matched they were as warrior. Eventually, though, Kenobi was to learn how to best the cyborg." which make sense because we don't see Kenobi best the cyborg using his lightsaber. Heck, in Grievous Intrigue, ARC Troopers and Crystal Crisis, Grievous was fighting Obi-Wan fairly, yet Obi-Wan here being dishonorable just throwing random crap at him. Grievous never really lose that often in duel/on-screen, there are duel where he fairly gain victory over the Jedi. According to the book *Star Wars: The Clone Wars Character Encyclopedia: Join The Battle!* (2021) as it stated Grievous clashes with the Jedi in fighting battles, defeating Obi-Wan Kenobi, Ahsoka Tano, Adi Gallia.
Not to mention that grievous was not in good condition for duel when he fought Kit Fisto and still he killed his padawan and held his own against him. And the fight with i consider it a easy win for Grievous since at the start of the duel he literally send her on other way to the corridors and he would probably have killed get if wasn’t for the clones. And the rest of the fights was mostly Ahsoka that runs from Grievous and block some hit and she is able to escape only because she is able to push an arm on the other when he was about to kill her. But he still have three arms. So ahsoka basically survived to Grievous for luck

He was choking but the cough audio was missing haha ... because plot armor... but also he lost balance as well so he simply decided to push obi wan and not risk falling or getting struck by obiwan.
Grevious's main character goal is to murder main characters. Which means he's unfortunately destined to always fail on screen. "What the fuck is he doing?" Is a great description of pretty much all of Grevious's fights. He has four sabers, if he uses 1 to parry, 2 to attack, and 1 held in reserve there's sweet FA his opponent can do except run-away.
@@kirotheavenger60 That because the show struggles writing Grievous character, they don't know what they wanted to do with him, he was thrown in two unnecessary episodes, always have him fight throw Plot Armor characters, rigged his opportunity to kill Eeth Koth in Grievous Intrigue but nope, Filoni would love to use Eeth Koth a little more in the future which never happen, until 2018 Canon finally gave Koth a role and later get killed by Vader. Also Filoni gave Savage Opress two newbie Jedi to kill including stealing Adi Gallia that Grievous originally killed. Filoni doesn't believe one-on-one Grievous could really take on a Jedi because he doesn't have the Force and can't wield it but yet his show had two non Force-sensitive Cad Bane and Pre Vizsla who only know the basic of swinging a lightsaber able to hold their own, never lost a single fight and made them more competent than Grievous which makes no sense. Just a reminder it took them 6 or 7 year to finally figure out to get Grievous portray right and that in Season 7. The only thing that did him justice are in the comic Son of Dathomir, Kanan: The Last Padawan and Age of Republic writer did a great job on Grievous there. Including outside the show where they brought some of his old references in Canon.
Sorry but it part of Canon still, Grievous didn't behead his rival because when Obi-Wan is capture, I believe either he wanted him to be torture or wanted him to be torture to give out information. It like how Obi-Wan put his cruiser in self-destruct so Grievous won't have the information.
Obi-wan is captured, and Anakin rescues him. I don’t know if these unfinished episodes are still on RUclips, but try searching the Crystal Crisis arc up
Now that it has been established that Grievous and Obi had fought before episode 3, the dialogue "I've been trained in your jedi arts by Count Dooku" is a bit weird. You might think that Kenobi already knows that.
But wouldn't that be the same with Obi-Wan and Anakin fighting Dooku together in the episode "The Lost One" where the two Jedi Anakin and Obi-Wan engage Dooku together on the Pyke planet because in Revenge of the Sith this is what Obi-Wan said to Anakin when they're bout to engage Dooku in the Invisible Hand *Kenobi* said: "This time we will do it together" *Anakin* responded: "I was about to say that". Because of this you might think that Obi-Wan should've already know this, because the last time they tried this against Dooku, it have failed.
@@cwylfre Yes You’re both correct, it’s the same with the ”my powers have doubled since the last time we met line” It fits in comparison to Padawan Anakin in 22 BBY but in the new clone wars it doesn’t
While not the original intention, you could argue that Obi Wan never knew Grievous was trained by Dooku so Grievous is still revealing something Kenobi didn’t know. As for the lines between Anakin and Dooku, they still hadn’t fought for around 6 months iirc by the time of Revenge of the Sith. While Anakin’s powers might not of doubled he was probably much more powerful, especially due to the outer rim sieges, and he’s also prone to overconfidence and exaggeration anyway. Finally the “take him together” line makes sense as Anakin and Obi Wan were not well coordinated in their fight with Dooku on Oba Dia.
Its so funnt how anakin cant even fight grievous or maul ever in the clone wars. And he doesnt even fight people like Savage or pre viszla. So he ends up just fighting ventress and dooku over and over again lmfao

Why do people say the 2003 clone wars series events weren't canon? YES Windu crushed Grievous, this is why he coughs so much and say, maybe yes, maybe i AM wrong, but Grievous still scared MACE FUCKING WINDU into not fighting him due to his ability in dueling, for those who don't know, Grievous can easily predict and counter (even mimick) jedi fighting styles, and since Mace mastered one of the strongest styles of all, when Grievous started mimicking it he ACTUALLY scared mace into no longer fighting him in fear he'd become "Unstoppable"
I personally believe mace crushed grievous lungs, but that takes place right before riots, and he's seen coughing in tcw 2008. Therefore I believe grievous already had lung problems, mace just made them worse
Well the Force crush can still happen in Canon, the sound of Grievous's cough in the show isn't as bad or worse as Revenge of the Sith, the cough is the (better) reason why he was so weak and lost to Obi-Wan Kenobi and even though the cough happens at the start of the war, he still gain many victory over Jedi such as Ahsoka Tano, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Adi Gallia, Depa Billaba and Shaak Ti, even overpower Quinlan Vos with one hands. Not only defeating but killing the most Jedi more than Dooku, Asajj Ventress, Maul and Savage Opress, killing 16 so far.

in the ‘03 clone wars show mace force crushes grevious chest
Such an underrated rivalry...
@@dudearte Damn your right! We need ROTS rereleased to fit with the Clone Wars
I mean, how I see it, Grievous *DID* repeat his catchphrases *ALL* the time throughout the Clone Wars, so I think that explains why he told him that. If you're saying this because it was an error when tied-in with the Clone Wars.
grievous challenged obi wan to attack since grievous was a very agressive fighter, he could easialy beat oponents who attack him
but notice how kenobi went into the form 3 stance of lightsaber combat or otherwise known in the sw community as the "defensive" form
so grievous was forced to attack first

Yep, glad the writers acknowledge this major weakness. Kenobi was learning grevious fighting style the whole time to eventually defeat him after many attempts

Interesting how Grievous wins more often with 2 sabers out than 4
Cuz with 2 sabers it’s more lighter and faster
because if you pay attention he almost always wins because Kenobi doesn't expect him to use his two extra arms without a lightsaber in the middle of the fight
Greivous was never really good with 4 sabers. It's more of an intimidation tactic. Not actually practical.

For everyone saying TCW breaks continuity and doesn't make sense with the dialogue in the movies here's the explanation:
General Grievous' amour & cybernetics we're now updated and I don't think he used the spinning arms to that extent on Obi before.

Thanks for your explanation.
With all due respect, this explanation is bullshit. Stop trying making head canon to make TCW working together with the movies. There are far too many points in the show that just don't make any sense. The only canon that maches to the prequeks is the multimedia project. If you want to know why.

4:51 rip one piece of grievous collection

0:07 strike back in the Hello There war
Uh, need i remind you before their final duel Grievous killed countless Jedi who you know...CAN use the force?
Well when he uses 4 lightsabers he acts like all of these are one, or fighting with one or two and doing nothings with the others for full SECONDS

2003 Grevious was waaayyyy better, its him at his finest.

Now that it has been established that Grievous and Obi had fought before episode 3, the dialogue "I've been trained in your jedi arts by Count Dooku" is a bit weird. You might think that Kenobi already knows that.
But wouldn't that be the same with Obi-Wan and Anakin fighting Dooku together in the episode "The Lost One" where the two Jedi Anakin and Obi-Wan engage Dooku together on the Pyke planet because in Revenge of the Sith this is what Obi-Wan said to Anakin when they're bout to engage Dooku in the Invisible Hand
*Kenobi* said: "This time we will do it together"
*Anakin* responded: "I was about to say that".

I world like to see the duel where Grievous has only one lightsaber
I think that four lightsabers is a high ground😉

See
He could have won easily
But imagine grievous being able to use force
Then he would really be impossible to defeat
Yeah he is just stupid af in the clone wars 3d
@@grivous9515 ye cuz of plot armour
If we Look at 2003 grievous...
Oh obi wouldve died in less then a Minute to that monster
@@profilenotfound2525 not only plot armor, the guy loses every strategy battles, and when he win in others battles (very rarely) he always get ridiculized at some point.
@@grivous9515 no it is plot armour
Just Look at 2003 grievous (who is clone wars grievous but years before clone wars) and Tell me clone wars aint nerfed by plot armour?
@@profilenotfound2525 I said "not only"
Where’s the part where Obi-Wan kills Grievous?
I feel like obi wan just out classed him alot because he lightsaber form

@@themalcahtwinz4743Grievous retreated. Retreat counts as a loss
@@arkhamasylum8972 but his goal from the very start of the episode was to retreat, while Kenobis was to stop him from retreating
@@themalcahtwinz4743 still a loss for grievous. By that logic. Kenobi wins the first round.
@@arkhamasylum8972 honestly sure. A fair swap
Why the hell does Grievous stop to talk? And if in the clone Wars he had his droids prepared to kill Obi-Wan? Why didn't he do that in revenge of the Sith?
