some small but powerful advice. You can edit in a lower resolution and have zero delay/freezes and then just export at full resolution. That or you can just use proxies. Both are good options. Reducing resolution while editing is the most common way I see people do it. Including myself. Reduce to 1080p then I just export at full resolution. Boom done no issues EVER.

I've always used DaVinci Resolve, and for one reason. The way it handles colour, not so much about about the user interface, but more about the colour science under the hood, the colour transformers are next to none and may I say the best in the industry.
This was so entertaining regardless of the content, but glad you made the swap! Black Magic is doing things right with DaVinci, it really is one of the most powerful and customizable software I've ever worked with. Looking forward to any tutorials you all put out!

I’m really excited you’re switching to resolve. For me, resolve is a rabbit hole, a whole new different world of creation and getting work done. The color page, needless to say, is THE standard with powerful color management tools and grading features, enabling HDR 10 and Dolby Vision capabilities. For the last 4 years using resolve I have learned a wide variety of knowledge from color science all the way to node based animation and audio mixing. @@leseuloiseau Hi :) just to clarify....are you referring to Dynamic Link between Premiere and AE? It never worked for me. Just started doing some simple tutorial video work for my company. I mean, you can say there's a high learning curve but with the plethora of concise instructional websites and videos online, I was able to quickly understand how to use Davinci and was able to complete my first tutorial (4-min long) within a day as a side project (on/off usage). I use basic fade in/out and highlighting, cutting. I'm just happy it was able to do what I asked of it. Completed rendering in 8 minutes. Love it!

Keep doing videos, Captain! I loved it! The Peter parodies were fantastic. I'm very new to video editing and dove in with DaVinci so I'd LOVE to see more content, tutorials, etc. about how you use the software. Keep up the great work.
The first thing I noticed when using Davinci was that crashing was almost never a problem unless I did something far too intensive for my computer to handle. (Premier would crash randomly no matter what I was doing). It's such a great feeling knowing that I don't have to press Ctrl S every 2 minutes due to the live saves feature and significantly lower crash rate
Speaking of Bangers...this video was one of the best I've seen here...which is a high mark to achieve given the 'competition' of Pete's always-outstanding vids. No idea how I missed this, but glad I found it, because the info provided concerning DaVinci Resolve was the last nail in Adobe's coffin. I will be switching after I finish two videos that I have already started editing in CS6 Premiere.
I would really love to see some tutorials on DVR from you guys in future! There is not as many high quality tutorials for Resolve and i learned so much about Premiere from you in the past.
Dope video! And it's pretty cool that you made the switch despite being that experienced with Premiere. I also made the switch, pretty much exactly one year ago. Took me a bit (because I did not import any shortcuts, I wanted to fully commit) to get used to everything, but I can't see myself ever going back. And the color correction is second to none, it's on another level. Made me stop using LUTs and get into grading myself.

For those new to Davinci feeling overwhelmed by the UI, get dual monitors! I promise this is like the final piece to the puzzle. It feels kinda cramped and busy on a laptop screen but the second monitor just opens it up and it really feels like thats how it was intended to be used.
@@thehumblewolf On the primary is the viewer and timeline and on the secondary is everything else, media pool, effects, mixers etc. Ultra wide will be ok but i think dual is better because you dont need to open and close things like the media pool in order to have your timeline full screen, u can just drag things over from the second screen.

Captain my Captain! Loved that take-over haha 😂 Let’s see more of your DaVinci Journey. I’ve done the same with my editing work after loosing my mind with Premiere Pro! Loving the switch over to DaVinci
One the biggest things I feel like nobody talks about...In Premiere if you want to stabilize a clip, but say you slowed it down. You can’t put warp stabilize on that clip without nesting it, or you have to interpret the footage which sometimes I don't want to do. Also adds a whole extra step to the workflow. In DaVinci no matter what you do to the clip you can still drop a warp stabilize on the clip. No extra hoops to jump through and their stabilize plug in is miles ahead of premiere. That alone made me start slowly switching.
Congratulations, you have passed level 1. Go to the stabilizer on the colorpage (almost nobody knows its also there) to pass level 2. If you really want to impress, find the stabilizer options in the fusion page and you past level 3 😜
Kirk captured the exact feeling so well of what it is like to edit with Premiere with the constant pauses in the video. Brilliantly done, and hilariously accurate! 😂😀
Love my speed editor! I picked one up when I went from the free to paid version. I'm also considering a Loupedeck+ for Lightroom. I think having knobs and buttons is much easier/quicker than using sliders. I haven't considered the ergonomic difference, though. I'd love to see some Resolve tips on the channel.
Been using Davinci for a few years now. It's just way more userfriendly, and the presets really help. In premiere you gotta do alot of downloads of presets or make your own to make it interesting. It's time consuming and it ruins the mood. But keep in mind, Davinci really needs a good GPU for editing, while Premiere is more CPU reliant ( i think?).
So great to have you guys on Resolve! I left Premiere after years of using it back in summer of 2021. It's made editing so much more fun, as it works so much better for my workflow. The only things where Resolve falls short are 1) lack of AI subtitles 2) ease of effect templates 3) a little complicated with keyframes at times. Aside from that, Resolve crushes Premiere

Let’s see more of your DaVinci Journey. I’ve done the same with my editing work after loosing my mind with Premiere Pro! Loving the switch over to DaVinci
This is my first time here, definitely couldn't be a better way to deliver the message Mr. Captain, I am sure Peter's followers are cool with you.
I laughed so hard! This was so good! Pete can definitely go on vacation more often, the Captain has the ship under full control!
I'd love to see more of Kirk on camera or at least start their own channel! So entertaining Captain! 🫡
Good point!! I tried it and was baffled that it just worked without having to do any tricks.
I hope to one day be good enough at editing to understand what you just said
Congratulations, you have passed level 1.
Go to the stabilizer on the colorpage (almost nobody knows its also there) to pass level 2.
If you really want to impress, find the stabilizer options in the fusion page and you past level 3 😜
I used to use Premiere myself. DaVinci Resolve is the superior software, especially for color. Plus, having fusion built in is awesome.
Good job Kirk definitely got Pete’s mannerisms down. I guess from editing all of his videos.
I am DYING at the edits you made when you forgot what you were gonna say next. I'm stealing that.
Great work Kirk, love to see more of you or even on screen with Pete.
I'm dying, this guy is an entertainment machine. Good job I loved the premiere freezes.
Outstanding effort, great presen..............great presentation, certainly got your points across, Thx!
